Mmmmm. Tossin the salad. Now that's more appropriate for a restaurant.

i think you misunderstood. i didn't say that you can't feel fear and distrust and be present with them - emotions are simply that, emotions. You feel them and move on.

But feeling fear and distrust and acting on them is two different things. When it is appropriate to act on them (as in your dangerous to life and limb example) then yes, one should do so. But to act on fear and distrust in a situation where faith and trust are more appropriate, and better for the relationship, then yes, that is what i choose.

i don't think anyone would accuse me of being "heartless" and "cold" and "wiping out part of myself" to experience joy. Far from it. i embrace myself, and my life, and my relationships, completely, in all aspects. i just choose to act with emotional maturity - and yes i don't always make the right decisions, but i do the best i can.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I meant to get back to this sooner, I still see folks hanging out up there so the thread is still going but I am not sure where at this point. I'll add this in though, it has been niggling at me.

I am sorry it came off like I was saying you were heartless etc. I didnt mean it like that. I more meant it in the vein where back in the days they didnt usta use anesthesia on little infant baby baby boys when they snipped them. They said their nervous system was not developed. I would not say these people were cold etc, they didnt know at the time.

Nonetheless the experience for little man was not a good one. No doubt, not a good beginning in da world huh?

Like that. It is important to be connected to emotions despite how pressured to do otherwise is rampantly supported around us is all over the place.

It is not putting out for fear and distrust it is feeling them, sensing them, and dealing with them, not stamping them out with the faith and trust gun if these awkward things show their faces. There is a distinction and if you see it you know what I mean.

I cannot believe this thread has made it to 23 pages in like three days. Whatever else you can say about osf, he sure as hell knows how to make a thread that people respond to.

Yes she should if she truly is a slave and has the heart of a slave. The hypothetical question is one of slavery not civil disobedience. We are not discussing Thoreau. The motivation, judgment or sanity of the Master is not relevant to the discussion. The question is the depth of her slavery.

So, you would expect a slave to be obedient, even if you were insane? If you hit your noggin' on a fricking anvil- and lost your sanity, then tell her to shoot your son, she's not supposed to exercise any judgement of her own at all? If she's a twue slave- bang, bang, and that's it? C'mon...please...

Hopefully in that situation he would tell her to shoot him instead

Sigh.

Folks---inventing silly hypotheticals can make anything ridiculous. What's the point?

The President is the Commander in Chief. What if he goes insane? Should there be a military coup? Perhaps we should add that to the Constitution. And who decides? Or can we trust he has better information?

Forget slave for a moment. I'd expect the same obedience from an employee. No, not at once. I'd cultivate a culture of mutual benefit and trust. Then, I'd expect my team to obey first, ask questions later, and if I've successfully built that trust, they will.

But if the game is just coming up with more hypotheticals, don't overlook "What if aliens have suddenly taken over his brain?"

If I tell a slave to do something, even if it doesn't make sense to her, I expect her to trust there must be a good reason. Or an employee. Or a soldier.

Now, if I start developing a pattern of nutty decisions, fine, different story.

But in this scenario? She'd better strip, and not even hesitate first.

If that makes a girl foolish to you, there's a world of vanilla waiting for you, no worries.

But wait! What if there's a psycho who is only thrown off balance by the sight of naked flesh, and he goes off to kill half the city??!!! Don't forget that one!!!

That's the thing, though....the op is a silly hypothetical. BUT, when you put yourself into the situation, it stops being so.

Now, maybe, given your circumstances, with your sub/slave, that's a given. But know what, it's NOT in my world. I am a mom, with an ex that could use something like that against our custody arrangement. I'm a teacher, I work with children, it's my livelihood. A stunt like this could get me arrested, fired, and make me a sex offender and unable to work in my field. So, you better believe that ***I*** am going to hesitate, question, and ultimately refuse. Any Dom/Master I am with will know all of this about me, and would never put me in that ridiculous a situation to test my allegiance to him. I am obedient, but I am also intelligent, and I know what's safe for ME and what's not. This falls squarely into the danger zone. Since my Dominant is not god, he should not be pretending he is with my life.

But that's addressing you, not the generic situation.

And again, like others, you assume it would be done in a way that puts you at risk. Why would anyone do that?

And that's fine--but to then pretend that your take on things is gospel and anyone else is a criminal is self-righteous.

Happens far more frequently than you think. It just happens in controlled circumstances.

Not for you, fine.
