Which is exactly why I don't believe the argument that there are a thousand subs for every Domme. I've always found the proportion of men who were suited to me to be quite small and therefore the odds pretty even.

I've found that this ratio changes with the person speaking of it. A sub who can't find a domme says the ratio is a thousand to one, as does a domme who is trying to tell a sub that he can be easily replaced. ;-)

I think the ratio is often inflated. In December 2004, bondage.com had 5323 straight female tops to 25476 straight male bottoms (ratio of 1: 4.79). Considering straight plus bi of each made these numbers 10,912 female tops to 34,304 male bottoms (ratio of 1: 3.14. What does Pi have to do with this?!).

On CM, doing a search just now of straight female dominants aged 30-45 within 50 miles of my location in Austin gives 5 who have been active in March. Using the same criteria for straight submissive men gives 45 who have been active in March (ratio of 1:9). Adding bisexuals to each changes these numbers to 14 to 46 (ratio of 1: 3.28).

I used this search criteria simply to limit how many people I would have to count. This count is hardly scientific and, personally, I expect the ratio today would be better than the ratio in 2004. I don't think these numbers give a sound sample for what the ratio is.

Sure, the quantity of qualifying profiles drops off for women seeking companions but the same also occurs for men. Off the 5 straight female dominants within my search criteria, 2 are pro dommes (one is seeking clients, one is seeking part time personals), two have relationships (one seems open to additional partners), and one is seeking pets for play but not a relationship. I did not do a similar analysis for men but I expect I could find at least 1 out of 45 who is seeking a relationship, which would exceed zero in the other count. Add to this BDSM compatibility and interpersonal compatibility and the odds become tougher yet for each side.

The problem today is how Domiguy is turning so many femdoms into femsubs. Singlehandedly he has tipped the whole ratio several more percentage points.

In fact, and this may shock all of Y/you,

but right now ... qualified by a set of assumptions i am using to search ...

assumptions that include the fact I am legitimately open to relocating, and thus, not geographically bound.

I find the odds actually FAVOR a single, submissive man, who is legitimately seeking a relationship of substance!

I am finding there are a lot of bright, intelligent Dominant Women here who would love to develop a long term relationship of substance. And it is not hard to meet them.

Elan ... I am thinking your right, when you say ... age and experience do matter.
