sunshinemiss, wouldn't an ipod with instrumental music and a blindfold fix that? [;)] Seriously, I agree that I tend to get too distracted to really get into a scene, but for light stuff, it's fine. It is one of those things that has made me feel used and objectified a bit, generally in a positive way. If we were *only* playing with the TV on, that would get a bit irritating eventually, I think.

Sure that'd be fine. I think. Perhaps an experiment is in order? Oh yes, of course. Must have real data.

*bat bat bat.

I am curious to know, what people think about having the television on while playtime happens.  The reason I'm asking is because the other day, an NBA playoff game was on while I was spanking someone.  As I was enjoying paddling that hiney, the game became extremely interesting.  It forced me to stop for a second, get a beer, chips, salsa, & a sandwich.  [sm=skiprope.gif]  My lovely sub was left tied and gagged while I sat next to her cheering for my favorite team.  Needless to say, she was a bit pissed...........I made it up to her later that evening [sm=bust.gif][sm=bust.gif][sm=bust.gif].  But the question of having the television on while playing has been on her mind.............Is this something that I should worry about?  Have I become addicted to the idiot box again?  Will this hinder my future experiences........... [sm=banana.gif]

Ok let me get this straight....you're in a BDSM relationship, you're the Dom & your subby gets pissed because you stopped spanking her to enjoy yourself? Who's this about, her or you? Who's in charge??
You're actually in a vanilla relationship. yeah you like a little kink, but in fact you're as vanilla as the Brady Bunch. you (purposely lower case) are a top. you are bf, a sub posing as a dominant. you were there for Her entertainment and her satisfaction, which you obediently provided when you realized you didn't perform to Her satisfaction. Therefore, you did everything right. you just need to get your lables straight.

I work in the sex industry and from a hotel so have to be discrete so yes, I do have the television on in the background to mask noises I, or my clients make.
For those that find the television distracting, I use music. Or, theres always porn..with the sound down and radio on.

A television can have its uses , for entertainment , enjoyment , etc . If your  just going through motions  haphazardly spanking  but mainly watching the game , you should prob wait and spank at 1/2 time  or during the pre show , or after the show is over .Giving the dynamic and the person the respect they deserve .
Television can also be a fun torture device too , just tied someone up clockwork orange style and make them watch barney all day NOW that is being mean ..

Wow, a little harsh don't you think? What happened to "there is no one way to do things..."

So what you're saying is that any Dom who takes his subs feelings into consideration, is really in a vanilla relationship and is a sub but doesn't know it?

VirginPotty -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 11:14:15 AM)

Not at all, JB but he let her dictate the "session".
Sounds like when she gets pissed he bends to make sure she's happy not the other way around.

jbcurious -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 12:30:35 PM)

It sounded to me like she stayed tied up and gagged through the session...

ThundersCry -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 2:09:10 PM)

If thats your thing -L-
TV on is the last thing I want when playing ...

laurell3 -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 2:26:16 PM)

Really? Sounds to me like he was making a joke.....as is evident by the [8D] by the original post and his responses. I find it humorous everyone here jumps to arms to claim "untrueness" in response though.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 2:59:53 PM)

If you were tied up, like he said his sub was, then praytell, just how would you be walking away?

Unless you waited until he eventually untied you. Then that wouldn't be near as dramatic or skillful as dumpin his snack in his lap and then walking away.

how would you feel if you were screwing her while she chatted on her cell phone?

I would have been a little more than pissed. Of course...you wouldn't have been too happy either with the chips, salsa and beer deposited in you lap as you watched me walk out the door.

Jeffff -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 3:04:05 PM)

It would be nice to have an applause machine.

Every time I did something spectacular. the audience would go nuts!!!!

azropedntied -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 3:29:19 PM)

Now that is funny  jefffffff

jbcurious -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 3:40:24 PM)

I guess you wouldn't have to replace the batteries often...

Jeffff -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 3:41:13 PM)

Only when I put the perfect crease in a lab coat!

jbcurious -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 3:54:08 PM)

The last time I had to iron something, I first had to google "how to iron without an iron." [:)]

Damn, I guess that makes Valyraen a sub and means we're in a vanilla relationship. That's gonna suck to tell him. Oh, he's also cooking me dinner cause I've had a crappy day - does that make him a service sub too? [;)]

VP, sounds like the sub did exactly as ordered and just wasn't happy about it when it was over and expressed herself. Since he didn't complain about how she expressed herself or her service, I'd assume she expressed her displeasure in accordence to their relationship. Since he cares about her feelings he made it up to her, similiar to how Val will buy me some chocolate or flowers if he accidently causes a bad sub-drop. Now he's considering if he wants to continue to do it in spite of her objections or not. Honestly, the thread itself struck me as extremely light-hearted and that he isn't terribly concerned.

DesFIP -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 6:53:06 PM)

I also think VP was out of line. If he wants a certain response out of her during play, but does something that doesn't elicit this response, then he ought to be apologizing for doing things that if he had bothered to think, he knew would cause a bad reaction. Personally I get panicky if I can't hear or feel him while tied, gagged and blindfolded. Had he abandoned me like that to wander into the kitchen to prepare food he would have come back to a full blown anxiety attack. And yes, I would expect him to try to make it up to me.

Because he knows this will be my reaction. So wandering off anyway would say that my well being is so far down on his list of criteria that he didn't bother even for a minute to think about how I would react to this.

Whiplashsmile4 -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 7:38:24 PM)

She's just pissed cause you did'nt use her ass for the coffee or end table. LOL Next time you'll know where to put the chips and salsa.

UnFlinchingEye -> RE: Having the Television on while playing (5/11/2010 8:23:31 PM)

I like to have the TV on but its due to being raised with the TV as a babysitter. I feel a little off when I don't have a little buzz in the background. For something as important as sex I would certainly go with the sound way down/off and have nothing on that would actually draw my attention. Thats just courtesy. The sports thing seems like a pretty big dick move unless you are intentionally trying to make a point.
