Well, Farrakhan HAS told some jokes, but they sure as hell were not funny.
And BTW- practically everything he says is not true.

Agree with LadyC. Why do people conflate "conservative" with "racist"? The concepts are not even categorically comparable. Farakhan is explicitly racist, if by "racist" one means "hater of a certain race".

Have you considered a dictionary as a substitute for your opinion?

Musicmystery -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 12:31:44 PM)

Have you?

What I said was that I had not heard him say anything that was not true. Would you be so kind as to disabuse me of my ignorance?

I have a websters and an oed at hand and neither of them refer to that word with that definition.

Musicmystery -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 12:37:45 PM)

Look up "rhetoric."

The reason why is because a lot of conservatives make racist statements to incite the racist population in our society. During Hurricane Katrina, Neal Boortz called Hurricane Katrina victims "parasites" and "ticks on a dog." I don't know if Neal is racist, but that statement was racist and was said to incite racist people in our society. THIS is why conservatives are often labeled racists. They promote these over the top spokesmen who keep their ratings by inciting racist people.

However people want to parse this, Farrakhan is a manic idiot.

I have listened to more than one of his speeches and I found him to be neither manic nor and idiot.

Musicmystery -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 12:39:39 PM)

So we disagree.

Imagine.

So you too have decided to pick flyshit out of pepper.
When one begins a sentence with "I think" this is the relm of opinion.
When one begins a sentence with "This is a fact" the discussion leaves the relm of opinion.
If you believe that my statement was concerning farakhans opinions or conclusions and not his statements of fact then you have misinterpreted me and I am sorry if I was not more clear.
I hope that we are clear now.

The word was "racist" not "rhetoric".

This is a carry over from grade school.

Simply stating something as an opinion does not prevent it from being false.

You asked for an example. You got one. Now you're whining about that.

Back to your pepper.

Enjoy.

Just a few quotes from Farrakhan:

"The Black man and woman have always been looked upon as the 'property' of White America; and particularly, members of the Jewish community. They've always looked at you as 'belonging' to them."
Speech at Mosque Maryam,Chicago, 3/7/10 "Dewey, Kant and Hegel, and the rabbis that wrote the Talmud, make blacks inferior."
National Black Agenda Convention, Boston, 3/18/04
“White people are potential humans – they haven’t evolved yet.”
–Philadelphia Inquirer, March 2000

“Murder and lying comes easy for white people.”

Actually it is how adults conduct a discussion. Define terms and use agreed upon definitions.

Simply stating something as an opinion does not prevent it from being false.

As I stated above I was refering to his statements of fact and not necessarily opinions or conclusions.

You asked for an example. You got one. Now you're whining about that.

When you give me an example of what I was talking about, which has since been explained to you, you will hear no whining.
Now have you an example or not?

Owner59 -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 1:01:29 PM)

If Luis was the defacto leader of the democratic party and called the shots on the liberal side of the media, the comparison might have legs.

But he`s nothing of a sort.He has zero influence on anything,accept numerologists.[:D]

But he does provide images of angry black men for conservatives to exploit, tho.Don`t he?

Like Rev.Write did, for conservative consumption.

The fact is,there is no equivalent on the left to Limbaugh.

No equivalent to Ann Coulter,Liz Cheney,Sean Hanity or Michael Savage on the left.

Some of these right wing extremists have TV shows for god`s sake and an army of dupes to quote them. With a few soldiers posted and on duty here.

Nope cons, your stuck with the losers like bush and Sarah,Steel and rush.

Have fun defending/explaining/apologizing for them

Musicmystery -> RE: Is this a racist comment? (6/3/2010 1:01:54 PM)

You don't understand the difference between a matter of fact and a matter of opinion.

"I think the world is flat" does not mean one is entitled to that opinion, as it isn't a matter of opinion. No, adults don't conduct conversations that way. Not unless they're clueless.

You got what you asked for. You don't like it. Fine. But my work is done here.

When a black person is grabbed up and lynched that is pretty much "prima facia" evidence for that dead person being chattle property.

Speech at Mosque Maryam,Chicago, 3/7/10 "Dewey, Kant and Hegel, and the rabbis that wrote the Talmud, make blacks inferior."

It does not take a very deep read of those to find the truth in his statement

National Black Agenda Convention, Boston, 3/18/04
“White people are potential humans – they haven’t evolved yet.”

That seems pretty straight forward. Aren't we currently involved in thugging some arabs out of thier shit....hardly an "evolved" position on the scale of humanity.

“Murder and lying comes easy for white people.”

How many dead iraquies and afghanies are there so far?

Still waiting.
