A simple little " God Bless you " has you this perplexed ? At your age you don't know the correct response ? Do you get this perplexed when you sneeze and a stranger utters those dreadful words ? If a simple thank you is beyond your scope of politeness, then a simple nod or smile would do just fine. Mutter F you under your breath if it makes you feel better. The man was simply being kind to you and you know it. Yet cuz he uttered the " G " word you want to cut him down. Mike, you need to pick your battles and this one just ain't worth it. A wise woman once told me: You have a limited amount of emotional currency, spend it wisely. mbmbn

Mickey it is truly sad when someone says something positive to you and you rant about it and turn it into an ugly, negative experience. Are you ever positive about anything in your life? Can you not appreciate the intent without being displeased over his use of words? Not everyone shares your beliefs, why should they? And why are you so offended by the word God? And why do you think that Atheism is negative? I find nothing at all negative about Atheism, as long as people are able to coexist with their beliefs, it makes the world diverse and interesting. Can I have a SHEESH!

I don't understand what the big deal is, honestly. I grew up in Texas, and perhaps that's shaped my views, but a "God bless you" here and there won't kill you. You're not going to burst into flames. Just accept it, smile, even say, "thank you" and go on your way into Burger King or wherever you are. Hell, I get little Jesus loves you pamphlets all of the time from customers. I smile graciously, say thank you, and after they leave I either read it or chuck it in the trash. Now, if they'd said something like, "You're going to burn in hell you nasty heathen!" then I'd have gotten pissed off and probably responded, because at that point, they're being rude and disrespectful instead of just careless.
