As mentioned several times in the last month..I love my dogs. They're my kids. I love all types of animals though so it's generally a love and respect for all animals but of course more than a little bias when it comes to them :>

If given the chance I'll be more than happy to brag/talk about them and sometimes I'm likely to sneak it into a conversation anyway. :>

I work at home which works out great because they are with me all day. If I want to see them or they me..It's an easy do.

If you feel like sharing pictures or stories as to why you love animals or your animal/s specifically..please do.

This is Rambo. He's a 7 year old Scottish mix pound puppy. I got him from the local pound a little over two years ago. We had a rough go at first because of his abuse but he's come a long way. He's a happy go lucky fella now :>.

Right on, Icky; -THIS- is a thread I can get into.
I am a many-times-over lifelong animal lover and pet parent (mostly cats, some dogs, and a few random varmints like rats, turtles, snakes and fish) and also, my husband and I do wildlife damage control for our state. Last fall, several wonderful people on this site shared my sorrow with me when I lost my sweetheart, a rescue baby named Foamy who happened to be a squirrel. In the last year, I have had the care of the aforementioned squirrel, a duck, two blacksnakes, a baby robin, two raccoons (one of whom was a newborn who did not make it, the other still lives with us, being fat and healthy but not able to care for himself in the wild), and several oppossums.
Current furry headcount: four adult cats, five kittens, four white rats (one of whom just gave birth yesterday morning), and one whirling dervish, I mean raccoon, name of Reno.
Please send cheezburgers.

This is the rotten mess I call Zoe. She's a Field Lab and sweet as she can be...most days. She was given to me by a customer who was going to take her to the shelter as well. I fell in love with her the first time I saw her.

Between the two of them I've probably have bought 5 pairs of shoes and countless other smaller things but it's been worth it. Nothing I own has more value than they do so it's all just stuff compared to them.

She's trying to look regal by the way.[8|]

This is my rescue Golden. Defender of the house from all dogs and cats on tv, who never the less will allow a squirrel to run right across his feet while he cowers in terror.
He listens to The Man but spends his time glued to my side.

Oh and he has a truly efficient stomach. Ten minutes of six and he's waiting for dinner, and nudging me for a treat come 9:00 PM. You could set a watch by him.

Lol. You've got a miniature petting zoo there huh?

Did you have a lot of pets as a kid as well? I did and I remember those times fondly.

We had a flying squirrel when I was about 10 that was named Rocky. My stepfather rescued him from 4 neighborhood dogs. He actually jumped in the middle of them while they were in a frenzy and received a few bites for his trouble.

What a trip that squirrel was. My Mom didn't like it too well but she put up with Rocky..(He used to fly right for her bouffant hairdo every time..She loved that let me tell ya lol.)

We also had a pig, raccoon, dogs, horses and goats.

I wish I could have more..I have more than enough room but I'm not sure the landlord would approve. His house..His rules.

That's another reason I can't wait till I get to Alaska and back to nature. I miss the wildlife in it's raw state.

LaTigresse -> RE: PetsRus (8/20/2010 1:40:11 PM)

Just 3 dogs, 2 horses, a cat that believes he is a dog but somehow better, and one mean ass big yellow fish. Oh, and a leopard frog that recently moved into my horse's big water tank........and the chipmunk that has been hanging out on my porch leaving acorn shells in his/her wake........and driving the dogs CRAZY!

I think I've posted pictures of all of them (except the chipmunk and frog) recently. I can be bribed to post new ones however...[:D]

The above list does not include the 3 grandpuppies.

Alas, I'm the only pet in this family.  I think Firm figures I'm a handful all by myself.  [;)]

I don't know of a pet that doesn't have the potential of bringing a lot of love to a house so I'm sure he's fine with what he has.[:D]

He is.  [;)]   I'm actually fine with it, too... though sometimes I really do miss having a dog or cat.

I just don't miss the dog or cat hair... or cleaning the litterbox... or walking the dog... or things getting chewed/scratched up... or not being able to travel on a minutes notice.

Oh My Goodness, lookit all teh BUPPIES!!! When I moved here to Kings Mountain, the hubby had a Shar Pei name of Bear, not too tall but stout and a wrecker of all doors and window screens. He was a big ol sweetheart but in the end we let him go live with a family that had open acreage and a female Shar Pei who was evidently looking for a hookup [:D]. I look forward to when we have our own acreage again because dogs are a goodness.
