It is not true; USA is still one of the richest countries on Earth. The government just needs to collect taxes and make cuts in less important areas.

Collect taxes?  Business' are closing doors, people are walking away from their homes, just who is picking up the slack on the taxes not being paid?     With so many people on unemployment, making a small percentage of their usual salary, the income tax is drastically reduced.  The trickle down effect, is less purchasing done at retail stores, meaning less sales tax.  The old saying, "you can't get blood from a turnip" was never more meaningful.   

Unless they start taxing sex, or other "free" activities,  the government will need to find alternative means to pad the purse.
