You really have not given us enough information to help you. First and foremost is her health and that responsibility lies with you. If her mental acuity is not affected by whatever condition she has, then reading books, updating your calander of events, answering your emails might be a suggestion. If she has had a traumatic event and healing emotionaly then I would put the D/s aside and focus on her complete recovery so you can get back to your D/s lifestyle. Medical questions really need to be directed back to your doctor.

questions about what are some tasks my slave can do to feel like a slave while on bed rest is notreally a medical question nor one you even need to ask the dr about.

You can intelligently ask the doctor her physical and mental limitations. You do not have to tell the doctor you have a slave. You can ask: can she fold laundry, can she have sex, can she have anal sex, can she have oral sex, can she sit up in bed and do X, Y and Z task.

I am NOT being selfish - I am trying to help her in a way that is primarily focussed on her recovery but whilst still enabling her to focus on her chosen role and lifestyle.

My initial reaction to the OP was to wonder whether we had a jackass on our hands or not - but his response to these early comments did seem to show that he's pretty fucking clued in where it comes to supporting his sub.

Thanks to those who have taken time to give a positive contribution to this - it has certainly given me plenty of food for thought. Some of the ideas I had thought of anyway, such as research and writing etc but good to have reassurance that I was on the right path. My slave is now a lot more content and seems to be on the road to recovery. She has a scan coming up at which point I can hopefully ask the doctor for some more advice as to what she can and cannot do. I wasn't present at the last appointment so was unable to do so.

I will keep you posted as to her progress and perhaps update the thread with what I actually do with her - what works well, what doesn't etc.

Now, now. I am not saying he should try them all, because I don't know how she is. I just suggested some so they can can consider them in the light of the present situation, and practice the winners. We are assuming, since she's sick, that they will talk about everything first. Like it should be.
However, you'd be doing good, and I'd be doing the same thing. It's just that there are people who really NEED it, a lot more periodically than I do.

Skip the sex. Let her rest and stew in her own juices and desires for a while.

You take care of the house and of her needs until she is better. But for crying out loud don't wear a maids outfit and don't let her see you sweat it.

Her new duties include writing 4 erotic stories at least one page long the are about a slave but instruct her that this slave is not her and that her doms are not you.
This is a great way to get a slave to disclose their fantasies and fears without them realizing it.

Bring her a tape recorder and have her record them as a gift to you using her sexiest voice. If you have a laptop you can do it there use the microphone and just burn it to a cd afterwards.

Buy some leather scraps, some wooden dowels of different sizes, some nice rope, some fake fur, glue nice tacks needle thread at a crafts store "michaels or joan here".
Instruct her to make 4 toys of her own design to use when she is better. Tell her she gets a special treat if she includes the toys in her stories.

After every story is done and read to you by her and after every toy is handed to you reward her. Maybe use a massager (not a vibrator) to bring her off while her hands are tied to the corners of the bed and you kiss her. I think this whole combination will give her both something to do and something to look forward to while allowing you to learn more about her.

I have to jump in and give props to the OP. From what I have read, he seems to be a sensible, sensitive, and responsible person. He and his counterpart seem to have a great open line of communication and they both seem to be on top of getting her back up to speed and healthy. He really and truly respects and honors the limitations and limits imposed on and by his partner in her slave role. I am going out on a limb here, but I am assuming all of this is inline with HER expectations of her role and within HER new, albeit temporary limits.

I don't know your particular dynamic and tastes, so specific activities and the like I cannot suggest. But, the only truly important sex organ lies between the ears, not the thighs. It can be stimulated and rewarded and return the favor in so many ways: sensation play, sensory deprivation, guided imagery, reading to one another, writing assignments, etc. I was actually thinking a term paper on all the things she is going to do for you and how she will serve you when her convalescence is complete. Here, also is a novel suggestion; ask her if you have not already. Denial is one of the strongest weapons in a dominant's arsenal. I have images of allowing her to devise something she wants to do, building her anticipation of following her suggestion, and then assigning her some non-erotic task, such as writing lines or translating some poem into a language she doesn't speak.
