Yikes, kisha!  i researched it first, and decided the side effects were more do-able than a 5th baby...heh... but i didn't read/hear from my doctor anything about side effects AFTERWARDS.  i would be most grateful if you wouldn't mind maybe mailing me a few more details, please?  If it isn't anything too personal, of course.

Not trying to hijack this into a birth control thread, but... well... how well is that ring really IN there?  We aren't always the most gentle of people over here, and all the "insertible" methods scare me by virtue of their possible dislodge-ability... ?

I'm on the pill (perimenopause symptoms not for contraception) so my periods are predictable and light (5 days max). The only things I get is migraine-type headache the day before and on the first day, and tend to be sleepier than usual.

My mother had endometriosis and eventually had to have a total hysterectomy in her mid 40s. She has had problems ever since with hormone replacements which never worked for her and made her feel worse than being without them She's now nearly 70 and has osteoporosis. I know I am lucky that I never got it too

I cannot use any of the hormone based birth control methods;
The Pill, Depo or Norplant, because all raise blood pressure.
Going off The Pill meant that the servere PMS, resembling first
tri-mester pregnancy symptoms, came back with a vengence.

I headed over to the health food store and stocked up on women's vitamins
with particular minerals and herbs included.
I have also tried the pre-menopause topical cremes to reduce the
cramping.  Soaking in the bathtub, lower back and foot massages, drinking lots of water,
and moderate exercise all help.  I also recommend doing research
on the particular vitamins, minerals and herbs
that apply to your symptoms before purchasing
unfamiliar products; some can cause interactions with other
medical conditions and medications.

Blessed Be,

Vendaval

3 weeks in, one week out, it was teriffic. If you are really prone to migraines [with auras - flashing lights/lightning bolts and the like] like I am, I was having 2 to 4 a week lsating for 6 to 18hrs, each, the estrogen will be a problem. The ring won't fall out once it's in, its in until you remove it. Even if you have a lot of sex and its aggressive [yes, I speak from expereince]. Hard to damage the ring, even with vibes and other 'fun stuff.'

beth~ That's one reason that I am all over the place emotionally right now, 5 adnormal paps in 2 years, plus 6 biopsys, plus cryotherapy in Jan of this year and right now we are waiting for result sof the last biopsy for cancer screening. I think all of this stuff is since I never had really bad PMS. In my teens I would be doubled over for hours and I missed school a few times, that changed after I had my munchkin.

Isn't it FUN being female?!?! Ok, the good out weighs the bad, but the bad can be miserable.

the first time, it slipped out a lil, but only b/c i hadnt inserted it correctly [later, i found a tampon applicator works wonders]. i read that basically, the only way to dislodge it is incorrect insertion, and a *tough* bowel mvt

it has NEVER been a problem during sex, and only sometimes can He feel it, but He says it does nothing to diminish the wonderful feeling of *me*

the only hard part is getting it out, b/c after 3 weeks of the kind of sex we have, sometimes it can get pretty snug against my cervix. Luckily i have a Dom in love with me, and He helps [its hard with my fingernails, to feel them against my vaginal walls makes me squirm bad - and in a bad way]

i used to have really heavy 7+ day, painful periods. i am down to 4 days now and only moderate cramps, and it is much lighter. i experienced no mood swings from the hormones and no weight gain. most successful BC for me so far.

kisha-  it's fine- we "share" this name.  He told me i could have my own profile, but this way i don't have to worry about rude mail from "Doms" who can't/won't read.  =)  Besides, the birth control decision is ultimately up to Him.  =)  Thank you!

becca~

Too much estrogen can be the cause of migranes in some women, hense the migraines and severe headaches during PMS. I changed birth control 4 times in 3 months [patch, to ring to some pill] due to migraines, my nurse practitioner made me 'purge' my body for 2 months [NO birth control] and then she got me on this progesterone only bc pill and so far so good, NO migraines. I am on daily migraine therapy as well, which has been a life savor.

Email me directly if you would like more info, unless other ladies are prone to dibilatating migrianes, then I will share all I can.

I become emotional and either cry alot or fly into a temper. I do not allow My breasts or nipples to be touched anyway. They get sharp lines of pain running deep inside the tissue (am I glad I am so small). I get chocolate cravings. I get ovary cramps, every bone aches in my body like flu, a lack of appitite, foul mooded, barely sleep, hot flushes since I first started at 14 yrs old which can make me pass out for seconds or just go light headed. As for sexy when bleeding dont I just! I have met a few females who will pleasure me when bleeding but they are rare.
My adorable TVslavedoll tiptoes around me, offers me chocolate, and distances herself  in another room. She is scared stiff of me. I do not scene with PMT, I am not in control of myself, the menstrual demoness Jaki is!

I usually don't get the very horny stage until after my period ends. Probably the only time i'm actually very agressive. *blushes*

Gawd ... *grumbles*

When I have a period, it lasts for several weeks, sometimes months ...

But then again, I can go for 6 - 8 months without having one at all.

The pain is pretty horrific ... Before I became sexually active it hurt a little but after I had the miscarriage it just became miserable.

Currently I'm on Desogen. Its like being pregnant ... Everything makes me cry or pisses me off. I'm arguing with people about stuff they havent even done. Its like I'm paranoid or something. My breasts are swollen and tender, I have headaches, I'm always tired, my nipples aren't leaking but I have noticed moisture, I'm not sick in the mornings but after about 12 noon I don't even want to think about food. I'm truely miserable ... lol ... Stupid pills aren't even regulating my period.

I've asked to be put on a different pill but they're hesitant to do so because Desogen worked so well for me about a year ago. I'm like, well somethings changed because it aint working now ... I'd love to get on the patch, personally. I won't take the shot because my niece got pregnant while on the shot so that seriously makes me doubt its effectiveness. Either that or her boyfriend had some seriously potent lil soldiers.

OMG,..you poor things!  I am so blessed.  I never had PMS, only very slight cramps,  Even giving birth didn't hurt that much.  However, my sister SUFFERED!  My heart goes to each and every one of you.

PMS -- Yikes! Before I got on The Pill I had every 'symptom' in the book and then some, including screaming and *throwing* things at my BOSS (needless to say, PMS is directly responsible for losing *that* job). Luckily I was single back then, but even my best friends fled in my PMS-y presence. I was a true bitch, agressive, annoying, irrational, paranoid, frighteningly full of rage, and just awful to be around. Then, of course, there were the physical symptoms. My PMS was so bad it was losing me friends, because it would happen about two weeks out of every four, and the threat of losing my friends finally drove me to my obgyn, hoping for some help.

Hormone therapy, in the guise of the birth control pill, has allowed me to reclaim my life. Now I get 48 hours of being a rage-filled paranoid mood swinging depressed and irrational subhuman with insomnia and hot flashes instead of two weeks, and I know when those two days are coming, so I can plan to isolate myself as much as I can from those I might hurt. In addition the physical symptoms are almost gone, and the duration itself has nicely fitted into the week I'm off the pill, instead of taking up half my life. I don't think I would ever give the BCP up -- it allows me to be more or less normal most of the time, since I take it three months in a row, which means I have periods once every three months. This stability has given me the confidence to start a serious search for a dominant, now that I know I've gotten everything under control and don't have to worry about seriously injuring anybody in a non-consentual manner. The incident with my boss prior to getting on the pill was NOT the first time hormone-induced rage made me take swings at people. Physically, The Pill has never made my blood pressure rise, nor have I gained weight from it, or experienced any side effects much beyond a bit of nausea the first few months. I do find it harder to LOSE weight, but that's a fair trade for what it provides. It's not impossible, just harder.

With any luck, if I ever partner with a dominant, he'll understand it's in everybody's best interest to let me disappear for 48 hours every three months. I'm not very sure that trying to scene with me in that irrational, paranoid, bi-polar emotional state is a good idea.
