I never heard of tomatsmor. Perhaps my Norwegian family came from a different part of Norway? Or maybe since they left there in the 19th century they hadn't heard of such a thing? And yes, they were indeed heathens, Ron. Because that's the way Granny always made it for us.

I recently found the Ellis Island foundation site. I located an ancestor's info on there. She arrived on Oct 28, 1896. Ship of travel was the Teutonic. As I recall - it's been a while - he did give me an address once but it didn't pan out. Some old dude called Olaf answered the door and didn't know who Ron is. I blew him but it wasn't the same.
