because breaking is usually part of the ceremony

No, it's really not....

if you participate in breaking, yes, it is

mixie, I am not trying to argue with you for the sake of arguing but you said "usually". Now I have been to MANY collaring ceremonies over the years and I can tell you that in my experience...breaking has NOT been a part of the ceremony.

Regardless, if you read the OP and the responses...what you refer to as breaking is not at all what her idea was of the concept.

The gist of your posts seem to indicate that you have a romantic notion of "breaking" and that you somehow relate the level of how much pain or beating a submissive takes as though it is an indicator of how submissive they are. If this is what works for you, then by all means...but please do not make the mistake of putting us all into that same box by making a generalization like "usually".

sorry all i was aware of was the fact that i was answering his question, of when breaking was involved, and because i omitted a few words [which, i didnt think i did, i guess it was i stuck the word 'usually' in there] but i was just trying to state that if you participated thats when it was

Okay there are a variety of things here, has anyone stopped to think that "breaking" doesn't necessarily have to include pain.  Breaking can simply be mental torture or deprivation.  Breaking in my opinion is a very dangerous way of trying to change/mould someone into something you want them to be.  Not to say that its wrong for all people, but for some it can be very dangerous.
An example here is breaking a horse, not exactly the same thing, but you dont' necessarily have to beat the horse and make it cry it out in pain, you just make it uncomfortable enough using the bit, bridle and a sadle to make them feel more comfortable doing what is a natural thing for them.
Any human that is deprived of any kind of stimulation will eventually "break" they will be able to be moulded and shaped into whatever you train them to become.

In all honesty I believe that rose is speaking of becoming humble on the mental level, it's not that she wants to be beaten, branded etc....it's that she wants to mentally know that she has place, feel worthy, humble, cared for, protected (need i go on)

i get it, in every possible way that she meant it.  Being a slave isn't easy, the emotions that run through our heads sometimes overtakes us, there are times when we question ourselves, there are times when we question our place, our worthiness, our purpose to our Owners etc....and it's something that i think we have all felt at one time or another and that's where the thought of being "broken" which i say humbled comes into play.

Rose, communication with your Owner is the best prescription that i could give out right now, if you keep everything your feeling inside you will start to question him and yourself more than your already doing it.  It's not healthy and in the end it will only damage what the two of you have.
