Do you consider yourself a Bitch?

  • If yes, what does being a Bitch mean to you? Why do you like it?
  • If no, how does it feel when dominant women either refer to themselves or are referred to as Bitches?

There really isn't a right or a wrong answer. I'm purely interested in perceptions at this time. Of course I have my perception but I'll reserve it for now ;-)

A man of clear vision is considered opinionated, authoritative and decisive, while a woman with the same vision is a bitch.
A man with suggestions gives a critique: a woman with suggestions is bitching.
And bitch is used by men when they trying to exert dominance to any gender.
So yeah, the word is offensive to women and general and Dommes in particular, and should be expunged from the media our kids hear just like the n- word. I imagine the gentle souls of the 1950's BBC having massive coronaries when they see and hear what's on TV now. The censors made a major mistake letting b- pass: f- is still bleeped, but b- isn't? That's f-'d up, man.
And TV's and would-be-subs with b- in their usernames, thinking that makes them more girly or sub? Eurgh. Any guy msging me with b- in his username is instantly blocked.
Still don't think it's offensive? Walk up to a big dude, and say, 'Hey, dawg'. Uh huh. Now walk up and say, 'Hey, b-'.
Enjoy your stay at a local trauma centre.

Am I opinionated, authoritative and decisive? You bet. But as Tina Fey sez, 'Bitch is the new black: get used to it'.

Well ... no ... not really!

But I can be some what of the male equivelent, sometimes! LOL

Yet I will share:

I have always found a Lady, with, shall we say an edge to Her ... quite attractive and desirable!

So I feel, calling Yourself a bitch ... is not always a bad thing at all!

In fact, it can be a desirable trait!

There's a joke that I've told a couple of times on the boards.

Bitch = Being in total control here.

On a more serious note, I don't think I'm a bitch, but some people might say differently.  I know I'm the wrong person to tick off.  If I don't like someone, it's pretty obvious and I really don't hide the disdain.  Doesn't happen all that often but I can't say that I like every person that I meet.  I'm also (get ready to be shocked here) VERY BLUNT.  <gasp>  Darn stubborn, too.

However, that's a really small slice of My personality and the opposite of all of the above paragraph is also true.  Most people that I meet, I do like.  If you're important in My world, I'll do darn near anything in My power to help you if you need it.  I'm actually rather friendly and I happen to be charming.  I read people really well and that works a lot in My favor.

I sarcastically say I am a bitch from time to time, when I just know... lol... someone else is thinking I am.

When I was in business, there were very few women around. Many of the men had never worked for a woman and were angry that they had to. I did lose two from the job site in the middle of a shift, where I was working right along side them, because I told them to take it easy, they were breaking windows. That was the last order they were going to take and they packed up and left. lol The other guys loved working for me because I was fair, open, honest and cared about them. I also paid them more than the going rate. So that might have had some benefit to it.

The men that have known me in my personal life most often thought I was anything but a bitch... but when a bitch was needed, I was a good one. I make the word work for me, whether it is considered a bad thing or a good thing. If someone meets the bitch in me and that I can truly be... then they have done something wrong or something I see as wrong.

Do I nag people in my life? Do I boss people around that I have no right to boss? Do I inject my will upon people I shouldn't? Do I like being bitchy... NO.. to them all. Anyone that makes me bitchy... is someone soon headed for a doorway. You really have to cross a line to take me there.

Now, let me address sarcasm. lol That I do have in abundance. I love the irony of most anything and will be sarcastic. If that makes me a bitch... then I guess I am and gladly. So much fun sometimes.

As I wrote in the OP, I'm curious about the different perceptions on the issue. Bitch is an empowering word for some and a derogatory for others. I like understanding different perspectives, which is why I start topics like these.

Sorry LadyA I read the OP as simply being interested in opinions. Do you want answers from D-types only or can us s-types chime in?

And yet, I never used the word opinion. But I did use the word perception a few times ;-)

Well my question was directed to dominant women primarily, but I don't see any point in limiting the discussion to them. So please, by all means, chime in!

I consider it to be a word of empowerment. I've had men call me a bitch before and I told them "Spell that with a capital B."

Most of the sting of the word is taken away for me when I realize the user is trying to intimidate me or get me to back down from something. It's an attempt at control that I will not give into.

My sister lives in near horror of being called a bitch. To her, it's among the meanest of things you can say to a woman. It was in her ex-husband daily repetoire, so I understand her point of view.

I take the point that it's a term generally reserved for females. (Note that 'generally', Lady C. ) That's a discussion all of its own.

Aside from that, a 'bitch', to me, is one of two sorts. The first is (I hope) rare: it's a woman whose coldness is bordering on the psychopathic. The second sort is much more common: this 'bitch' is nasty, regularly, in a schoolgirlish way, whatever veneer is put on it. Once recognised (which may be admittedly difficult), there'd only be one solution for dealing with the psycho sort: to get away from her, and fast. As for the second sort: God knows. I'd deal with that as about as smoothly, or otherwise, as any woman who's dealt with regularly schoolboyish behaviour in her partner.

Side note: Chrome seems to think that 'schoolgirlish' is a bona fide word, but not 'schoolboyish'. Interesting . . . .

I'm absolutely a bitch.  Sometimes.

I'm stubborn, opinionated, blunt, call BS when I see it and take BS from no one.  I'm sarcastic and a misanthrope.  If someone ticks me off enough, I will tell them exactly what I think of them.  It will be eloquent and vicious and it will not be over quickly.  I can be ruthless or devious when necessary.  I'm demanding in that I expect someone to do what they say they will do, when they say they'll do it, and I expect them to give their best effort.  I won't accept something half-arsed and I'll speak up if it is.

However, that's only a small portion of my personality.  I'm also loyal, compassionate, rarely lie and do my best to live with integrity.  I'll bend over backward to help a friend in need.  A guy I used to know got kicked out of the place he was living.  It was February in Nebraska and he was planning to sleep in a doorway.  I didn't know him very well, but he was a member of a club in which I was a member.  You always help a Cammie in need.  It's a rule.  So, I took him back to my house and he slept on my couch until he found a new place to live.

To me, being a "bitch" means having high standards and refusing to let people push me around.  It also means I follow my personal ethics, even if doing so goes against social mores.

  • What strikes me is ... expressions that is is used in a derogatory sense. Like Nig*** or Pole** or W**

While I believe I saw a web based article articulating a line of reason recently discussing this topic; the anger it inspires in some does shock me!

Because i have heard the word used so frequently without reference to gender ... like a co-worker (male) is " bit***** up a storm ...

I have also seen women say they were bit***** up a storm over ....

Plus this past week I likely shocked my Female Boss!

Instead of being agreeable ... as she forces me to work 24/7 i bit**** about the subordinates she is assigning to me! LOL

Good thing she doesn't know I am a submissive! Or maybe ... She does!

    a bitch? me?
fuck yeah im a bitch. what does it mean to me? fuck all, it's the word used to describe a woman like me who won't pull her punches and doesn't give a damn what others think about her and who will tell you exactly what i think about you or any given subject in no uncertain terms. in other words, one who will act the same fucking way a man would in the same situation.

is it an insult? it's meant to be, but it's not. men use it to try control, women use it to put down. i use it as a descriptor. it is an accurate one in my case. and in the case of several others on here.

it does however have an alternate meaning:
    Beautiful
    Individual
    That
    Causes
    Hardons.

    yup, that's me alright.

No I'm not. To me a bitch is a word that's thrown around like cunt and whore and slut. I'm not any of those either unless he specifically wants to call me those but anyone else I would just walk away and figure they're simply a rude person.

Yeah i know there's this whole "women taking back" words and giving them new meanings but to me it's still an insult  to mean that a woman who is rude, cold, condescending and just plain ornery.
