Your mistake is in taking that sort of commentary seriously. It is not meant to denigrate the male gender as a whole, it is merely a sarcastic way to cut you down because you've made statements they disagree with. To your broader point, an argument could probably be made that, realistically, the average female has been taught to cook and clean to a greater degree than the average male. Hell, it's conceivable there is some biological qualification that makes them better disposed. Who can say? Obviously there are exceptions etc etc, but just as the average male has more experience fixing cars and building furniture than the average woman, an overall skill survey taken of the female race would undoubtedly give the results I've outlined. Personally I can't do any of the above well enough to keep from embarrassing myself, but such is life. Regarding women's liberation, that is not intended to be an attempt at homogenization - no one really believes that there is no difference between the sexes. Some would say that these differences are cultural rather than biological, which I would assert is probably incorrect, but nonetheless anyone with access to a university library could bring you thousands of studies that confirm there is a substantive difference between the genders. Instead, it is simply the assertion that neither gender should have their rights infringed upon or be considered a lower form of human being simply because they are of a given gender. Feminism, as I've noted before, is an entirely different bag. Many self-styled feminists are in reality far closer to the ideals of women's liberation than true feminism, but those who actually adhere to it are of rather a different bent. A simple etymological reduction (femin=female, ism=doctrine of) will demonstrate that the intent of that movement and the intent of the women's lib movement are different. Feminism is essentially the advancement of the feminine, which is an inherently open-ended affair to which the only logical conclusion is matriarchy. Again, most self-styled feminists do not necessarily see that as a desirable goal, but such are the vagaries of language. Those who do adhere to a true feminist ideology are never going to be satisfied - they really DO want everything men had along with the old perquisites of their gender, which is a laughable and unrealistic goal which will only continue to exist for another 10-20 years until the pendulum stabilizes and we move past the penalty phase. The moral of the story is this: Do not conflate these two ideologies. The difference between them is the difference between equality allies and white supremacists. Again, though, unless I'm mistaken the people you are responding to are not espousing an ideology but simply taking things to extremes to prove a point. It's a strange and back-asswards version of reductio ad absurdum which I've only ever seen on the CM forums, but there it is.
