I haven't fiddled around much with the Friends/Favorites/Admirers features at this site. (And just now, in poking around with those, discovered that I'd acquired an Admirer over a year ago and never dropped her a note. Oops., I usually try to do that just to be polite.) Most of the local kink community seems to be more active over at FL, so that's been better for staying in touch with people, events, etc.

Having the Favs/Adms labels on the bookmarks does seem a little awkward, though I can see why the site would want users to be aware that people had viewed, tagged to review, etc. And there have been a few times that people perved My profile, but closed or hid their profiles soon afterwards. I've never checked to see if the latter takes them off the Favs list. Oh, well, might experiment with that later.

It also looks like people who perv a profile can see the Friends, but not the Favs or Adms.

I always checked who's viewed me, too, and it's almost always total strangers from BFE. It's the internet! We have profiles so that folks will LOOK at them!

It's nice, wistful even, to see the name every so often, the grieving cycle seems mostly done.

I am going to clarify ONE LAST TIME!!!

I believe people are being presumptuous when they add me to their favorites list BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT ASKED ME IF I WOULD MIND IF THEY DID!
I think it makes NO LOGICAL SENSE to add some one to your "favorites list" when you have never spoken with them before and you are ear-marking them to watch.
Littlewonder said it perfectly... "why someone wants to bookmark me is beyond me."

I NEVER SAID profiles are presumptuous and rude. I said SOME PEOPLE ARE, in my opinion. I am NOT being deep nor psychotic. I am merely stating MY FEELING on the actions and why it bugs me.

To those who didn't think I worded the beginning of my thread "correctly," all you had to do was explain the how/why reason behind a "favorites list" and tell me not to let it bother me. Comments like "seriously????" and "chill" were hardly what I expected...especially given their origin.

And Stella? My day will improve when I stop returning to this post of mine, and realize I needed to dissect and analyze everything before posting.

In case you had not previously realized.......when you create a thread you have zero control over what others type in response. Kinda like you have zero control over who 'favourites' you. Why you are getting so excited over either, is beyond me. Trust me when I say, the only one that is showing any emotional investment in this thread is you. So what it didn't go as planned. So what people don't agree with you. So what you don't like how you think people are perceiving your posts or visa versa....

It's just pixels on your computer screen. It's not that big a deal.

while I don't understand why someone would want to bookmark me, it doesn't bother me either. I just shrug and laugh.

Why are you letting it bother you? If you don't want others to view your profile then hide it.

Hell if it's wrong to have a favorite profiles list, then it's equally wrong for you to drive down certain streets over the holidays to admire the lights on a house. After all, how incredibly rude and presumptuous of you to look at their decorations since you didn't ring their bell, introduce yourself and ask permission to admire their reindeer collection.

There is a solution -- HIDE your profile, then you won't have to be all indignant when people put you on a favorites list lol.

But i guess that wouldn't be convenient because you don't mind 100s of people looking at your profile on a website, you just don't want people to bookmark it so its easier to look at -- never mind you have no clue WHY people are adding you to their admirers list.

Its a website, tons of men are oggling your profile, many you may not even know about as people can view your profile without clicking on it and triggering the view concept.

Do you feel the eyes watching you? I know there is a song out there.

I don't do the favorite list thing. As for friends...the only people listed here as friends are people I know irl. When I get requests from people that I have never spoken to before I point out that it would be nice if they actually sent me a msg before asking. Now someone tell me why I just got a msg of thanks from someone that l was one of his admirers? I don't admire anyone enough to poke that button hahahaha.

On the other side is a HELP button. Clicking the HELP button finds this:

What are admirers? Admirers are simply other users who have added you to their favorites list (by clicking on the 'Add User to Favorites' button). Similarly, whenever you add another user to your favorites list, you will show up on their admirers list. One exception is that you will not see users on your admirers list whom you have blocked.

What's the difference between favorites and friends? Favorites are like bookmarks. They are profiles which you find interesting and would like to keep track of for future reference. Friends are people who have agreed to publicly associate with you by appearing on your full profile page. Aside from both beginning with the letter "F", friends and favorites are completely unrelated features.

But I didn't favorite him. I have never even viewed his profile. I am just going to assume he is lieing and trying to make the site look at if it doesnt work....as that was his excuse for me showing up when he too knows that I never viewed/added him.

Someone shows up on your Admirers page when they add you to their Favorites, something you have NO control over. On the other hand, for someone to show up on your Friends list, you have to approve them first. If you don't want them as a friend, reject their offer. This you DO have control over. To think that someone has to ask you first before adding you to their favorites lists is, well, ridiculous. Just be glad that someone likes you that much. You need to stop being so serious. A person would think you have, ahem, control issues or something. Just because we are Dommes does NOT mean we can control EVERYONE. Your own profile says "each of us is responsible for our own happiness and well being," so why not start now?

Ummmm... you know, if you really dont like someone having put you on their fav list then just view their profile and block them.. they are instantly removed from your admirers page. You would need to do that with each person, of course, so it takes a little effort (not much imo)..

But if it really bothers you that you are on some or all of their lists you can do something about it.. I have done that in the past the odd time myself..

thats not true, actually... you can view the admirers profile and then block them.. they are instantly deleted from your admirers page.. so it is also something you have control over, just as accepting or rejecting a friend request..
