Over-exaggeration is a redundant term.  Much like irregardless.

Personally, I believe many people here should run down the traditional symptoms list of what constitutes as narcissistic personality disorder before branding another person with it.

There's also circumstance/situations.  Do you think this guy would say this in reality?  No.  Some people on the Internet just don't take it seriously and seeing as they think they will never meet anyone here, decide to shoot blindly and forget about it.  It's the power of being anonymous and all that.

It's less about being yourself and more about taking one side of yourself to eclipse all others.  Like taking your self-confidence and turning the volume up until you hit arrogance.  After all, who cares?

Cyber-rage and road rage do work very similarly, with the exception you can't easily ram somebody with your computer.

I don't know... don't you think it is a little "high on themselves" when a person demands to be called a title of power?  Or in some cases, have a totally new name affiliated with this title?

Yeah, I've always had trouble taking the guy in the purple feathered hat who wants to called Lord Banana Pants seriously.

Untrue, I knew a kid that got kicked out of High school for doing exactly that one too many times. He just kept breaking laptops over peoples heads, I guess he must have wanted to make sure he got his moneys worth on the warranty plan.

True enough.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Irregardless, I like how over-exaggeration rolls off the tongue and spills out on the page.

Seriously though, I"m not exactly in disagreement with you.  Just as I wasn't really putting much thought into the redundancy of the words I was using, I'm sure many innocently make the mistake of exaggerating the obvious in their profiles, posts or correspondence.

The likelihood of what comes across as narcissistic, in a medium such as this, actually being pathological - most likely falls within the same probability as what one would see in the general populace.  It seems more prevalent online, but so does a great deal of other oddities.  Anonymity and apparent absence of any sense of accountability seems to inspire people to do a great many things that I personally consider distasteful and/or unethical.

Anyway, I'm tired.  This has been interesting, and I've enjoyed the discussion.  But, I'm off to get my beauty sleep.  We can't all be young and gorgeous, dontcha know.

Naw, now that irregardless is a word. All the cool kids are going with disirregardless in order to over exaggerate.

Those damn rebellious pups, and their lack of respect for our classic tradition of overly used pleonisms.
