See that hill over there. Im older than that. You old men bitching about not getting younger women. Go buy yourself a blowup doll. LH is young enough to be my daughter but I dont hold that against her. I dont date women older than me because there are none on here who are older than me.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 8:10:31 AM)

ACTUALLY Rayray you're not holding anything against me. It's enough to make a woman pout. POUT I tells ya!!

Mmmm OK. The next time we will skip lunch.

50 last October.
I wasn't looking forward to having that number be official but it's fine. One cool thing is it feels like now I have officialness. 50 seems to weigh something, people seem to give you more import. That part is kind of nice.

Yesterday in class we had to design and do an aerobic exercise program as though it were for a patient. We had to line up by age- of course I was at the head of the line, which is embarrassing- it's not fun to have something pointed out in such an obvious way. Then the fun started, I simply kicked ass. I was asking for ankle weights and free hand weights to use when I found out that my program needed more oomph- had to raise the heart rate more. I actually gathered a crowd before I was done of my fellow students.

Why? Because I'm old, but I put the other younger students to shame. It was cool though feeling like I had more of their esteem because of my age for once then having it be a liability. Reaching 50 has kind of been like that, you seem to have more respect. I dreaded it happening, now I kind of feel like I have the best of both worlds.

Little older than Lady H and Lucy *grinz*

Truth to be told, a few years older since they both are lying and have added years to their actual age!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 10:46:14 AM)

~~BEARBEAR FTW!!~

Though I have always been honest about my age, and roundly mock those that are not. I made my ex change his just from commenting in my journal about it! AsfuckingIF anyone would have believed what he was posting anyway.

MissKittyDeVine -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 10:52:01 AM)

Lizi, you´re another one who looks way younger.

Isn´t ´real age´ rather meaningless ...

r1a2y3m4o5n6d7 -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 10:57:54 AM)

If my age is meaningless then would that make me meaningless???  Im as old as I feel and if a woman lets me feel them I dont care how old they are.

Thank you.

I see what you're saying about age being meaningless but on the other hand my years belong to me and I like the perspective they have given me in life. I'd never want to go back to being younger, I rather like the things I've learned.

Duskypearls -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 12:11:40 PM)

I'll be 56 in a month.

Age has always been a funny thing for me. When I was 13, I appeared, acted, and felt older than 20, and was never carded or questioned. At 55, I look like I'm between 40-45, and feel and act like I'm 20. Go figure!

Ah... the one third age life crisis.  I've never seen anyone else write or talk about it but I'm quite convinced it's real having gone through it myself and watching many others do so as well.  It usually hits around 26 ro 27.  Its that point in time when you realize that, sure, you're still young... but not for much longer.  It's that horrible realization that, "my god, youth really will pass away."  My advice: dedicate yourself to making your 30's an awsome decade... then your mid-life crisis won't be too bad.   [:)]

The ONLY crisis birthday for me and my pal Mary was 25. We were appalled that we had hit the quarter century mark and were looking down the barrel of Not Where We Expected To Be. Sad/scary. The rest of the years have been gravy!

That is really interesting.. because in hindsight it seemed completely irrational but you are right. Turning 25 seemed cool.. mid 20's, young enough not to worry, but once I broached 26 (and now the looming 27) I'm panicking about my 30's!

26 for me has been a life changing year, though, so realistically I am looking forward to my late 20's (and 30's and so on). The years just go so quick now! I mean it's February already!!!

just turned 40 and having difficulty coming to terms with it.

I know this sounds really cliche but my life (the way I was meant to live it) really began at 40.  And it gets better every year.

I'm 46.  I had to come to terms with my late start at happiness and how much time was lost, but then I started focusing on how much road there is ahead of me, to enjoy.

The only thing I am really noticing is that physically I have to be more careful with my body.  Like working out and such - I get more pains in my joints pretty easily.  I think sometimes I forget my body isn't in its 20s anymore lol.  But overall, this has been the best decade of my life!

yeah, see, that's the problem I'm having with turning 40. I'm restarting my life now with my daughter gone, I've sold my home I lived at for over 10 years, sold or gave away almost everything I owned, up and moved to another state to be with Master, quit my job and now I'm finishing college since I was never able to before, going on a vacation overseas since I was never able to and just doing things I want to do for me now.

But I think about how half my life has "wasted" away. I know I know...I raised a daughter, worked in a career that will help me to advance when I decide to go back to work, etc....but I still feel like I should be so much further ahead especially since I see my friends from high school who now have good jobs, have really done stuff with their lives.

But it's funny....4 of them either got married or just got engaged and just had children or currently pregnant while I did that 20 years ago lol.

Wolf2Bear -> RE: How old are you? (2/3/2012 2:31:36 PM)

The one thing I find as I get older is I am enjoying life more and more. I am enjoying how life has turned out now I am 51 and so looking forward to see what the next 40 years has in store.

I will be 50 in April, and the only birthday that ever bothered me was the 25th. I cried all day, felt like 1/4 of a century was old, and I was not where I should be in life. One good thing came out of it, my ex comforted me and my son was conceived that day-lol.

Now, as 50 comes at me like a freight train, all I can think is I hope the 50's are as awesome as the 40's have been. That life begins at 40 has much truth in it.

My only problem is I think of 50 year olds as being grown ups, and I don't feel like a grown up person yet.
