I caught this yesterday on the ABC evening news.

There appears to be more and more scientists, that are slowly coming to believe what many of us, have thought for YEARS.

Global warming does exist, and the climate is changing.
In fact, many scientists believe that not only does it exist, it is also
accelerating.

At this point, many of us just sit back and watch as the weather continues to change and accelerate.
As I was telling someone today, many will never believe, even if the average temperatures rise to 150-200 degrees.

Many of us, continue to find this odd, wild, interesting and incredible.

Many Scientists believe global warming is accelerating/ABC News

We need an energy policy. A viable, workable energy policy that takes us off of fossil fuels and puts us on as much "green" renewable energy as quickly as possible.

The republicans will never get behind that kind of legislation.

Sadly, there are some Democrats who wouldn't either.

If anyone is interested, google global warming images 2012, and you will really be fascinated by what you see.

Many don't get the connection {and I am far from being scientific in any form}, that the high temperatures creating a lot of artic melting-->can create weather extreme's in the winter also.

Climate Changes/Global warming creates extreme weather in summer and winter.

According to researchers at Cornell, the melting artic ice MAY be setting the stage for extreme winter weather in 2012.

Researchers at Cornell feel artic melting may create extreme winter in 2012

Those of us that follow, and are interested won't be sitting around with our mouths hanging open saying, "What's going on with the weather?"

Anne, I agree with you.
Many meat eaters won't stop eating meat no matter how hot it gets, no matter how cold it gets, or no matter how EXTREME the weather gets.

While global warming is definitely not a good thing, I do hope this coming winter is more extreme than last years nonexistent winter.

I had steak for dinner. I love steak, and ribs and hamburgers too........Yummy While we may be experiencing climate change I don't believe it's a result of man made activity or especially eating meat.

Space Based Solar. It's raining energy and we're too stupid to put out buckets.

Its so simple guys. We just place all the GOP members (and their conservative supporters) in bondage gear. Hook up reruns of Democrats talking on any old thing. Than hook their mouths up to tubing that is linked to generators. Finally, ask them what they dont like about President Obama, the Democrats and/or what they would do.

With so much hot air being generated, we'll be able to sell the power worldwide for $0.01 a megawatt.....

Space Based Solar.

I'm also for space based solar as well. If I were a member of Congress, I would give the matter serious attention.

My inclination is to be cautious. I accept global warming since I don't believe the scientific community is lying per se. The problem as I see it is figuring out if man is merely contributing to the problem in perhaps a small or big way, or is the problem. It seems more credible to me that it is the sun that is the culprit. I could be swayed either way I suppose.

Meh! According to the Mayan Calendar nutsoids there will not be much of a winter in 2012 anyway, so don't worry, be happy

Not a damn thing is gonna change until you can quantify and show clearly what is going on. I am a skeptic of anything and anyone when they start preaching the holier then thou sermons, as most of the left and right do these days right or wrong.
I like many others want clear concise quantitative data.

So in order to provide real solutions,we first have to define, quantify what is the real cause of the problem.Until recently, we did not even have data on what the sun's general output was or in relation to what the sun was even doing on daily, weekly basis. We have just started to get data on the sun.In the last decade we have learned the sun has cycles of higher and lower outputs, those really make the difference in climate change.Did you know that none of the current global warming models have no sun radiation cycle data outputs? You wanna know why?

One: Their is no conclusive evidence that shows man is the culprit, we just do not have enough of real and good data, nor do we have the number crunching capability yet to actually get accurate computer models. The data thus far has been severely skewed depending on who you talk to.

Second: Everything is currently a grab ass event, people grab at what they want. you have all kinds of hidden agendas being played out .

Third: For one, a hundred, a thousand scientists, mainstream science to say anything one way or another is just another ploy at grabbing power from the masses. Garbage in garbage out.Anyone in the science industry and yes, it is a industry, these days because it is not real core science anymore, everything they do is geared towards getting more funding for whatever their particular area of research is. The National Science Foundation is the most asinine politicized power hungry group of people you ever want to meet, let alone hang your life, career on. Don't get me started on the UN science research goals.

Lastly on this subject, until you can control China, Russia, India and third world outputs as well as everyone else s outputs globally, it is a waste of air, money and effort.
You cannot find/provide a solution until you know what the problem is.

On the subject of space based energy supply systems: My current research, practical employment is doable, if we can find funding and adequate support. But again everything we have currently in problems, large and small are easily fixed, if we have the intestinal fortitude to make it happen. Until we get off this rock and put most of our population in orbit, we will continue to see increasing levels of dwindling resources and lowering of living standards throughout the modern world. I am not talking about living in a cubicle, instead we can live on man made fresh water oceans and large tracts of land, forests, parks, sustainable farming in orbit with all of our infrastructure and living standards modern man has become accustomed to.We can fix literally everything on the planet here, it is not technology that is the problem it is a end user problem.

Sadly, the current trend is to lower the living standards of the upper 10 percent of the world's population, instead of raising the living standards of the rest of the world's population.

Now before anyone get's their panties in a wad, I happen to have a lot of real time experience in several different subjects concerning alternative energy, agriculture, space aerospace technology, as well global warming related issues.

I head a group of old farts who are actively engaged in providing real solutions to the more pressing problems facing mankind in the next few centuries. We started out as a think tank and now have moved on to more productive activities which will provide us with the funds to move forward.

We have a combined knowledge and real life experience that is well over 1000 years as engineers, scientists, and other vocations, not bragging mind you, but instead of sitting around playing golf or bitching about who is in or not in the white house, we prefer to put our energies in to something more rewarding.
WE ARE A NATION OF CAN DO PEOPLE WE PUT MAN ON THE MOON WITH SLIDE RULERS WE CAN DO THIS

I LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD, I LIVE SUSTAINABLY, LIVE ON A FARM BY CHOICE. GROW MOST OF OUR OWN FOOD INCLUDING LIVESTOCK, USE PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES TO SUSTAIN OURSELVES INDEFINITELY.

STOP BITCHING AND DO SOMETHING, EITHER YOU ARE EITHER PART OF THE DAMN PROBLEM OR PART OF THE SOLUTION. IT IS UP TO YOU TO DEFINE WHICH IT IS GOING TO BE.

Has anybody worked out a transmission mechanism for that outside of Analog magazine, yet?

Yes a Japanese company in fact has a working prototype of a microwave system that works with less then 12 percent loss of energy over a 200 mile distance.

There appears to be more and more scientists, that are slowly coming to believe what many of us, have thought for YEARS.

As far as peer-reviewed scientific articles, scientists were already in consensus as of the 2006 "An Inconvenient Truth."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Inconvenient_Truth

A 2004 survey, by Naomi Oreskes of 928 peer-reviewed scientific articles on global climate change published between 1993 and 2003. The survey, published as an editorial in the journal Science, found that every article either supported the human-caused global warming consensus or did not comment on it.[32]

[Here's where the problem lies:]

Gore also presented a 2004 study by Max and Jules Boykoff showing 53% of articles that appeared in major US newspapers over a fourteen year period gave roughly equal attention to scientists who expressed views that global warming was caused by humans as they did to global warming skeptics, creating a false balance.[33]
