Obama - 'If youve got a business -- you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen'

I'll remind the eatery I'm going to tonight of that. Nope, wasn't your risk of your capital. Nope, wasn't your knowledge. Nope, you had nothing to do with it but get lucky.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Roanoke, Virginia on Friday night, Obama made the case that those who created businesses should be taxed at higher rates because they are fortunate and were helped to achieve success by the government and other people.

'There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me - because they want to give something back,' he said. 'They know they didn't - look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own.

'You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart.

Two things, thats not what he said, you are imbecilically inferring that from a place of cretinism, and he was speaking of much larger business' than your little vomitorium/greasy spoon.

He wants to cut taxes on small business.

But its the mail, so its moronic as those who quote it as credible citation.  Oh, and sun myung moon.

and it aint going to haunt him.  for the review of morons:
What was his audience?
What was the actual point?
Has he said he wants tax breaks for SMALL business or no?

I agree with his point and believe it should be double or triple anti in to the American Market for Multis and Foreign corps.

How about "if you have a business you didn't build it" a slap in the face of every businessman in the country.

It may not come back to haunt him because people are stupid enough to agree that being pro business means more and more regulation.

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -- look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

We rise or fall together as one nation, and as one people, and that's the reason I am running as President because I still believe in that idea. You are not on your own, we are in this together.

How about the whole story....

The taxing is reasonable.

Saying the government built the Internet for business (instead of research) is just stupid and wildly inaccurate.

True but to even suggest that government regulation and higher taxes build business is patently absurd.
Those things donot build businesses, they arn't the ones that put their lives on hold to get it going and they arn't the ones who put their futures at stack to start the business. The people who do that are the ones whobuild businesses by, in part, taking advantage of allthose things that you mentioned. If it fails they are the one who pays the price, not the road crew, the teacher, or the water company.

Nor did I hear Obama trivialize those aspects.

Now, you are reading into what he said.

Address what he actually said instead of what you want to read into it.

Interesting. The GOP has traditionally lionized business owners, and denigrated those who work for them. Obama's veering IMO too far in the other direction, but at least he's recognizing that the business owners do owe their success to others as well as themselves.

And the 'others' they owe their success to, would be the government.

Now read it in context, where it says something very different than your rant.

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -- look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own.
