Gym floors are typically padded.

During a basketball game?

In this case the facts show that Zimmerman got punched in the nose, someone wound up on the ground and his head hit the concrete once just hard enough to break skin. No reasonable person would fear imminent death or great bodily harm from that.

I actually question if Zimmy's head hit any concrete at all, he imo just hit the ground and maybe something hard there like pebbles or gravel in the grass caused the scratches.. given that Zimmy pushed Martin off and given the direction of Martins body, Zimmy's head was IMO some distance from the sidewalk.. it just sounds "better" for Zimmy to say his head was hitting concrete.. so I dont believe his statement on that either.. JMO

It has already been testified in court that George's multiple head injuries are consistent with his head meeting concrete multiple times.

No, the ME said his injuries were consistent with his head hitting something once. If it hit multiple times those instances did not cause any injury at all.

The ME said Zimmerman got hit once or twice on the nose, most likely once, and once on the back of the head. That is all the evidence supports.

tazzygirl -> RE: Zimmerman Con't / Predict the Verdict (7/4/2013 5:33:01 PM)

Yes. The padding is beneath. Its spongy like. Hitting your head wont cause an external injury... but it can cause an internal one as the brain shifts.

That ME is not the only one to testify to George's wounds, and on cross examination the defense got the ME to admit it could have been multiple times.

The PA that actually looked at George's head, instead of just photos, had previously testified George had multiple bumps consistent with hitting pavement multiple times. She pointed out each of those bumps and marks to the jury.

First off he didn't know the extent of his injuries.

So all he had to work with was the intensity of the attack and the medical evidence shows it was not that intense it was a fistfight and Zimmerman fell down.
quote:

He wasn't under oath on Hannity.

He wasn't under oath when he spoke to the police. That's why the Hannity lie impeaches every claim he made.
quote:

The prosecution has proven that Martin racially profiled Zimmerman, not the other way around.

The call to NEN makes clear Zimmerman did racially profile Martin
I quote from the transcript
quote:

Zimmerman: Hey we've had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there's a
real suspicious guy, uh, [near] Retreat View Circle, um, the best address I can
give you is 111 Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he's up to no good, or
he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking
about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy is he white, black, or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.

The only thing suspicious about Martin according to Zimmerman was that he was black unless you really believe simply walking slowly and looking around is somehow inherently criminally suspicious.
quote:

No reasonable person could deny that Martin started the violence.

No reasonable person knows who started it. I think it far more likely that Zimmerman did.
quote:

Prosecution has even demonstrated that Martin initiated contact.

In your imagination perhaps.
quote:

Prosecution has demonstrated that Zimmerman was glad to hear (though it later turned out to be false) that there was a video of the incident.
Your criteria totally eliminates self defense as a plea.

Self defense with lethal force is supposed to be reserved for the truly direst of circumstances not for losing a minor scuffle.

Which only proves my point.

One consistency in your posting is that you feel everything proves your point and nothing impeaches it.

Gun proponents like you want to see the use of guns as legitimate and hence want to see the facts in favor of Zimmerman. Hardly any of you even consider Zimmerman stupid and reckless.

----------

I've been thinking about Zimmerman being on the ground with Martin on top of him, and can't for the life of me think of why Zimmerman (the heavier adult male) couldn't simply roll him off and try to deescalate the situation. Zimmerman had 20llbs on Martin. Its very disconcerting that Zimmerman had so few inter-personal skills and physical wherewith all to handle Martin (who was unarmed) without the use of a firearm. The firearm became a measure of first resort instead of last resort.

BTW: Zimmerman has ballooned up 100 llbs since being arrested. That is kind of mind boggling. Some see the weight gain as impacting the trial.

The PA is not a trained expert on determining what caused a wound. The ME is. The ME says Zimmerman's injuries were consistent with a single punch and his head hitting something hard once. The ME conceded other blows could have occurred but that they did no damage.

The ME said the injuries on the back of his head were minor .. I have fallen on my knees several times and each time had considerably worse injuries than Zimmy did, and after Zimmy was cleaned up after the paramedics arrived, they werent even easily noticeable, my knees looked a hell of a lot worse, and that wasnt my knees "meeting concrete multiple times".. and I have scars also from those falls.. so I dont believe Zimmy, period.. you can believe him, I dont have to..
[/quote]

She sure did. In fact, said his injuries were insignificant. She went on to further say that GZ's injuries could have been caused by one blow.

Her account of it being "one blow" also could lend reason to why he hand no blood on his hands, and why he only had one cut on his ring finger, suggested as proof he hit GZ one time, at least. But if GZ's face was as bloody as the picture the defense showed of him, you would also suspect he'd have, at least, a teeny bit of blood on his hand or hands, too.

The mother of TM testifies tomorrow. I think both parents do, but know for sure the mother is.

The ME tried to call bumps from a photo a normal shape of his skull, that the PA saw in person and tesitied was swelling.

The parents can add nothing factual to the case.

Raiikun -> RE: Zimmerman Con't / Predict the Verdict (7/4/2013 6:03:11 PM)

TThe Defense got the ME to admit the left side of his head could have been hit 4 times, same for the right, and acknowledge the possibility of the back of his head having multiple injuries. Her direct testimony kinda got demolished on cross examination.

There was no padding on this floor

I'm not putting her on the stand!! lol We can only wait and see why the defense wants her testimony.

The subflooring. Gym floors are made to give, some even have padding of air instead.

Further you are either a newcomer to this debate or have a poor memory or you would know that I have criticized Zimmerman's tactics.

I wouldn't call it demolished! It held a lot of weight with the media down here! They are all waiting to see what else the prosecution wants the court to know. [;)]

Muchof the media has been demanding his conviction from day one.

Much of the media are card carrying members of the lynch Zimmerman crowd.
