Arent most of the terrorists male???

Actually, no: there's a fair few examples of female suicide bombers in Israel.
But the Palestinians haven't killed any Americans since the '70s, so I suppose that they don't count.

tazzygirl -> RE: Anti male bigotry exposed (8/17/2013 10:07:20 AM)

Sana’a Youcef Mehaidli, a member of the secular Syrian Social Nationalist Party, conducted the first known female suicide attack in April 1985 when she drove a truck filled with explosives into an Israeli Defense Force convoy, killing two soldiers and injuring another two.

I notice the fact that that site only tracks muslim terrorists... he ignored that too...NOT definitive, sorry,
well maybe to you it is, but in the real world, ...not a chance

In the sad twisted world of a fanatic or bigot, facts are only "definitive" when they confirm the fanatic/bigot's prejudices.

Unless the facts said confirm said prejudices, they are denied disputed or ignored. The kind of blind hate exhibited by some posters on this thread cannot be reconciled with 'real world' data. It can only be sustained by highly selective or imaginary data, as is clearly shown in this thread. Thus bigots remain impervious to the real picture.

For everyone else, quoting the real data to rebut bigotry illustrates just how imaginary the worldview of bigots is and must be.

Yes. Smart move! I'll always support any woman's right to choose! [:D]

As am I. The last girl I dated had a 10 year old daughter and I was the one who picked her up from school every day. For the first week I had to deal with teachers calling her mother to make sure it was okay for me to pick her up. It was probably another week or two before all the teachers began to remember me. But I didn't let that bother me. In fact, I was more pleased that they actually did check up on me just because I wanted to know they were watching out for her.

Fact is, men have been the primary suspect for every kind of crime since the dawn of civilization. If you haven't accepted that by now then you're way behind the curve and possibly being a little naive. My advice? Man up and deal with it or gracefully remove yourself from the situation.

Men are responsible for most crimes therefore I should accept being profiled and discriminated against? Bullshit! Sure, checking up on an unknown guy picking up a girl at a school is one thing. When a man can't enjoy a lunch at a restaurant with his little niece or is made to feel uncomfortable by society if he wants to sit and relax near a playground, then something is wrong with society. If you think that is acceptable then you are the one who needs to man up.

Sorry for being a bit late to the party here (as I usually am, and never in the "fashionble" sense), but things are as they are now because of 'heightened awareness' to a nearly schizophrenic level across society. Permanent amber alert, SWAT teams for towns of pop. 5,000, etc. You stated in your initial post that all this scrutiny re you and the young family member occurred in the last four years or so.

That's not male discrimination at all. It is rather the incessant inducement to all of society to freak out at almost anything that was considered normal 15-40 years ago.

If the "professionals," i.e. the police, can't tell the difference between beer and water, and seemingly no one, professionals, landlords, 'neighbors,' or otherwise, can tell the difference between tomato plants and pot plants, then I don't know what element of 'good sense' we can expect from any public corner anymore.

Being able to tell the difference between an uncle or a grandaddy vs. a perv is far down the list. You'll have to wait your turn, there.

I have more of an issue with granny being felt-up by cretin hirelings (whatever their gender, that is just perv to the max, sorry, (and stripping 3 yr. old kids, too)) by the private contractor TSA at the airports than I do with your plight, come to think of it.

Just as I overlook the putative 'concern' of people who bring up anecdotal evidence of 'male pervs,' who then seem to have no issue at all with the above, come to think of it.

Society has completely lost perspective, safe to say.

I tend to view it more like a loss of innocence on the part of society. We we're always becoming more aware but then 9/11 happened and it really pushed us over the edge. I think we've been feeling vulnerable in ways that probably only the WWII generation can relate to and everyone is overcompensating by being paranoid and panicked about everything. I guess I'm just able to understand that and can avoid overreacting. Unfortunately, there's too many people who can't help but run around screaming that the sky is falling.

Bullshit.
Every other nation in the western world has been subjected to large scale terrorist attacks over the years. The fact that you guys were lucky until 2001 is no excuse for absurd hyperbole about the second world war. Until it looks like Al Queda have the capacity to carry out an invasion, that argument really doesn't carry any water.

I'm not talking about every other nation on the planet. I'm talking about the US.

I'm probably more in tune with what's going on in my own country than you are. What's your point?

Moonhead -> RE: Anti male bigotry exposed (8/18/2013 9:56:19 AM)

My point is that comparing a couple of ugly buildings getting knocked over in New York with a global war that lasted for five years is ridiculous hyperbole. Wasn't that clear?

That isn't what I was comparing. Wasn't that clear?

Moonhead -> RE: Anti male bigotry exposed (8/18/2013 10:08:53 AM)

No it wasn't.
"The only people who can possibly comprehend how traumatic 7/11 was to us Americans are people who remember the second world war," was the gist of your comment.
I say try telling that to a Basque or an Israeli, to pick the two most obvious groups who spring to mind.
I'm sorry you found your country's invitation to the real world that the rest of us have been living in since the '50s so upsetting, but let's not go overboard with the exaggeration, eh?

Well, instead of jumping right into getting your panties in a twist, why don't you just ask for me to clarify my statement?

What I was talking about is how the WWII generation in America is probably the generation in America that understands the panic attitude in America best since they were the last generation to see the effect of such an attack on Americans.

Does that help you?
