If you want to look at changing cultural norms, watch an episode of the Rosanne Show. I remember when it first aired that people were amazed that such an obese woman could star in a show of her own. I watched an episode recently, and she was no longer obese, just fat!

Since i'm pretty sure she didn't shrink on film, i'm thinking that what I regard as obese has changed.

Which makes me wonder how much cultural perception fuels what we consider to be unhealthy.

My mum has been mildly overweight most of her life, and apart from some arthritis has hit 84, in possession of all her faculties, and going strong. So , is her "overweightness" really contributing to her overall unhealthiness - or is longevity and healthiness more to do with the genetic pool we inherited.

As a bacon lover who consumes bacon regularly, I hope to never come across a place serving the Maple Bacon Comfort. Id slip into bacon-y alcoholism way too easy. Would that make me a bacoholic?

I'm fat to keep the close minded bigots away. Oh yeah and also because I like breathing way better than I like being skinny and fucking medication side effects.

I'm otherwise in decent shape and reasonably healthy. My skinny bff has more jiggle in her legs than me. And also bacon. We consume approximately the same amount of bacon. It just sticks to me and not her. Because she doesn't have to take steriods to breathe. D:

Funny, you know, I was at a healthy weight until I had to start taking those damn things.

So, bacon. I had a bacon maple lollipop once. It was pretty okay but now they don't ship to Canada. =(

As much as I hate to veer away from the bacon path, I'm in the middle of baking a pumpkin pie. We grew just one pumpkin, but it's big. I'm going to make an enormous pie with crushed ginger-biscuit crust, and then do other unspeakably delicious things with the remainder of the pumpkin. I'm thinking cheesecake, muffins, truffles.... mmmmm. I love anything with pumpkin and I don't care who knows it. For optimum fatness, most of my recipes will involve copious amounts of condensed milk.

Pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash, sweet potatoes. You can pretty much swap any of them for another in a recipe.

But if you're doing a squash family, you get the seeds to eat. Butternut seeds are much thinner than pumpkin, better snacking.

Pumpkin soup the way Mum made it, using a bacon (yep, there it is again, I had to go to the bacon again) bone to flavor the stock. It is absolutely delicious. Of course coming from NZ, the idea of using pumpkin as a sweet dish is foreign (lol - get it, foreign from a kiwi)

Oh, I crack me up sometimes.

I'm only going to say this once - Pumpkin is NOT the new bacon.

I asked for a pumpkin pie donut at a Dunkin Donuts drive up Wednesday. First they gave me the pumpkin muffin, which they let me keep as I touched it. Then they gave me the pumpkin donut. They finally gave me the pie donut. Neither were as good as bacon and eggs.

Oh, I miss Dunkin' Donuts. It's the first place I head when I go home. I used to have my mother ship their coffee to me before you could get it in the stores here.

We finally got one out here and it's on Camp Pendleton, so it's an ordeal.

I thought you were only supposed to bake with the little sugar pumpkins?

Naw, the little culinary pumpkins are sweeter but the big ones are fine if you just compensate a little in the recipe.

This ^^^ is only one of the ways to lose fat. (as mentioned in post #252)

even tho that's what zerona is supposed to do, I think it has pretty mixed results.. imo, there are other ways that do a better, more reliable job.. lasers do tighten but not enough if you lose a lot of weight so have too much loose skin.. now there is also lipotuck which is a combo of lipo & tummy tuck.. I think for the best results you need to do a combination of things.. and of course getting the best doc you can afford..

And... that doesn't mean you wont be right back where you started in a few years tho!!!..
