I can't believe you are trying to blame the victim or his family.

While I'm completely unsurprised that nobody on the gundiot front is prepared to have their methodology thrown back in their faces.

Whoever was responsible for the care of the dead guy failed. What's hard?

Have you ever cared for a person with dementia? Short of restraints how precisely would you prevent this from happening?

My grandmother with dementia is in a locked ward of a care home.

By calling it a "clean" shooting, one gets the idea that respondents here would have done the same thing.

Perhaps that illustrates a greater problem with the "one" than the "one" would like to admit.

Here in St Louis we had one walk away from a care facility... it happens.

HERE is another...gee i hope she doesn't knock on any ones door.

HERE is another... man i hope he doesn't knock on any ones door.

HERE is another...damn hope she doesn't knock on a door.

HERE is another... yep if he knocks on a door they should blow him away.

I could go on... notice all these were in the last year in one area... I guess it is a good way to get rid of them... blow there butts away... all you have to do is wait until they knock on a door... sorry to point this out but I am just following methodology as they say.

I wouldn't be too sure on the locked part of that.

It might help if you called this particular shooter a reckless dope lacking in both common sense and courage.

It would help more if you didn't.

One more time, and I don't know why you guys are having so much trouble understanding this.
He wasn't shot for knocking on the door!
He was shot because he ignored not one but three warnings not to advance on the homeowner
with something metallic in his hand.
It should be obvious even to the densest out there that the home owner made a serious effort
to avoid shooting the man who ignored three chances to avoid this outcome.

I'm sorry, but there is no way I would shoot an 71 year old man with Alzheimers carrying a flashlight.

Like you'd know it's a flashlight and that he has Alzheimer. Your hindsight works well, though.

I wouldn't have a gun, I don't need one. I don't live in a state of fear and paranoia, and I don't want to kill or harm anyone.

An adult male with any sense does not leave his house and shoot an unarmed, 70 year old with dementia. That is lunatic behavior.

Bama... you don't understand... he should never have left the house...A responsible person would wait for the police by the door protecting his girlfriend... not leaving her alone... going out in the dark not knowing who or where anyone was. Stupid...aggressive and asinine.

Finally... three warnings huh... this poor Alzheimer patient was probably terrified and just wanting help... going towards someone who could help him get home... He may have thought it was his own home... hell he may have already lost his ability to speak. He killed an innocent man through incompetence. There is no justification for this gun happy cowboy. He let circumstances through poor decision making get to the point where he murdered..even if under the law he was within in his rights... What a dumb ass law that puts people in those circumstances in my opinion anyway.

OK lets say it was a mistake all the way around... he was just an idiot... should not the NRA at least use this as a teaching tool... condemning it as a mistake and not indicative of responsible gun owners? I'll wager you hear nothing from them.

Butch

I spoke to that when I first joined the thread, Ken. Pay attention.

How about you answer the questions I asked, before trying to come in with your own?

Lovely. Let's hope you never find yourself staring into the barrel of someone else's, while bad people do horrible things to people you love, but were too idealistic to protect.

FR to the "The police will handle it crowd"

I once had a bullet come thru the front window when I lived in miami.

Inside lights off, outside lights on, weapons off safe, 911 called.

FORTY-FIVE FUCKING MINUTES LATER. An unarmed "civilian auxillary" shows up.
She wouldn't look at the bullet hole because she was scared of a fucking SPIDER WEB and this is what is gonna protect me?

If you think the police will protect you, I have a bridge you might be interested in buying.

Did you kill a helpless Alzheimer patient?

Did you kill a helpless Alzheimer patient?

No but I was a finger twitch from killing looters after Hurricane Andrew. They decided to go rob a vacant house instead.

Again, it isn't soaking in.

There was no way to know the victim was an Alzheimer's patient.

He was a person in the dark who was refusing to back off.

Do you have the super powers to know the mental state, capabilities and what everyone within 50 feet of you is carrying?

You seem to think the homeowner did.

Bama wouldn't do it... TheHeretic wouldn't do it... none of us are dumb shit cowboys like this asshole. We have the sense to own weapons that can kill... he didn't.

But Aylee... you of all people know how much it costs... most... and I am not exaggerating...can not afford that type of care.

But as others have pointed out the victim was not at fault and when the situation escalated through stupidity he was killed. The shooter did not know he was a helpless man... but he should not have been in that position... not when the police were on the way and he was not directly threatened.

Again, do you have the super powers you ascribe to the homeowner?

By the way, I met those looters OUTSIDE the house.
Had I stayed inside, I would have been at a severe tactical disadvantage.
