ORIGINAL: kdsub We all have to live with our mistakes...but...I think a private phone conversation is a little thin to ban someone for life. I will admit in anger I have said some things in private that I would not say in public. Most of those things are because of my anger and I don't really mean them. From what I have heard he has not been in trouble before and I think a suspension of next year would have been sufficient. If his players wanted to be traded or not play for him... will... that is the price he would pay as well as the decrease in attendance. In the end I believe he would have sold his interest if nothing else from a business standpoint. I wonder how many racial slurs or issued on the playing floor ... certainly in football... are they also going to be banned for life?..Yea right. Butch What do you consider "in trouble"?.. its not a mistake on his part tho, his racism and sexism is very well documented, he has paid out multi-millions in lawsuits he lost.. he heckled and harassed his own players during games.. every coach has had to sue him to get paid.. Really, he is a pretty disgusting person.. When I lived in CA I saw his "charity" ads so I did a little research on the guy.. he is a shrewd businessman tho, incredibly cutthroat.. with Sterling Plaza he negotiated a contract for the whole building to pay the owner a small fee & 15% of any rental income, but then never rented any of the rest of the building out, he is the only tenant.. basically one pretty nasty squeeze play.. The owner cant sell the building to anyone but him (who would buy with a lease like that?) and they cant make any income on it as he keeps it empty.. "As a tenant, Sterling is just as cunning. He doesn't own the land on which Sterling Plaza stands; rather, he has a 99-year lease with the Mayer estate that requires him to pay a relatively small annual fee and 15% of any rental income. But he won't rent to anyone. With no other tenant, the Mayer estate faces another 75 years with virtually no income from its Sterling Plaza property. By sitting and waiting, Sterling may force a fire sale." http://si.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1018960/4/ http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/28/what-is-sterlings-racist-history-everyone-is-talking-about-here-is-a-short-review/
