It was an incredible night for Money in politics.

It was an incredible night for Obama and the Democrat party and their policies to face a referendum

That is extremely doubtful. The nutsuckers policies are now facing a referendum, I think this will prove to be the nutsuckers last gasp.

Perhaps some republicans will be born from the coming carnage.

The Republicans can now either act like Democrats and be as hated as Democrats are, or they can govern as moderate conservatives and enjoy mainstream support

Well, since the Teas have been systematically driving moderate conservatives out of office as RINOs, that doesn't seem likely.

What change would that be, exactly?

What about the GOP's radical rethink on gun control? I never thought that would happen.

What about one Dem after another trying to tell people they were as pro gun as Reps? A sure sign of desperation. And they didn't fool anyone.

I'm certainly not a friend of the NRA. But you are an idiot -- The Dems include not only sportsmen but also very conservative folk in the middle, south and west especially. Card carrying NRA folk.

Whats so radical about the Tea Party, that they seek to curb government spending and power?

Appears that the public at large is with them, meaning you and yours and the RINOS are the "radicals" since the Dem leftists and their egregious policies have been thoroughly repudiated here

Musicmystery -> RE: Republican Wave! (11/5/2014 3:43:34 PM)

Why are you confused about actual stated positions of the Tea Party?

And how the hell are Dem leftists "RINOS" when RINO is the Tea Party acronym for "Republican in name only" because they aren't "conservative enough."

You're even clueless about conservatives as they discuss themselves!

My arent we getting defensive

Must have hit a troll nerve there

Heres a news flash for you professor

RINOS are called RINOS because true conservatives view them as Dems running as Republicans, essentially consider them one and the same

The TEA Party seeks to offer up a contrasting choice

Which it is funny as hell to see you rant on one thread about "conservatives" running up budget deficits exactly like drunken Democrats in defense of the Democrats, then rant about the TEA Party actually striving to introduce our government to the concept of budgets

lol...We, as I agree with your political positions in most cases, just now have minority views. There are of course the gullible but not by the millions...We just have to face up to the fact that more disagree with us than agree and act accordingly.

Butch

Surely the more money you have, the more adds you can get out. Which means those with the biggest financial clout get heard most. Take rick Scott spending $100 million on his campaign as an example.

I also fail to see how anyone can elect Scott Desjarlais, giiven his private and public stance on abortion is at odds with each other. Nor can I see why Grimm got elected given the federal charges he faces soon.

No

"Comedians" such as this buffoon are heard the most

Along with your assorted actors and leftist professor types

Far left "news anchors" Like Dan Rather

Nothing wrong with some balance

kdsub -> RE: Republican Wave! (11/5/2014 5:30:22 PM)

Politesub... tell me has any attack ad EVER changed your mind? The only reason for ads is to get those that already agree with the ad to get off their asses and vote. The personal integrity of a politician means little except in rare instances. Most people vote according to their feelings and beliefs that they represent. No political ad will change that.

I never said money means nothing... the point I was making is it is not the money that is changing peoples opinions. Otherwise the people who voted in America believe in the stance of the Republican party. Money is not buying their minds but it is getting them to vote... see the difference.

If Democrats want to regain their votes they had better get along with changing minds not blaming big money. The same goes for liberal posters on these threads... they are in the MINORITY. Sure there are more liberals posting here BUT in real life they are now the MINORITY.. so get over themselves and holier than now crap and get to work changing what drove voters away.

I am not sure of the exact figures but spending levels were comparable between the parties anyway

This spending issue is just another way to deflect blame from the policies and personalities that were voted on

Legislative inaction due to different views in the House and Senate a is not a bug – it is a feature designed to promote deliberation and limit government action.

In theory deliberation, in practice ideological posturing for cable television and special interests. The complete stonewalling on immigration, infrastructure spending, agency appointments, judicial appointments, et. al. were all examples of putting the country second.

In the current congress, Democrats did nothing to try to work with Republicans and its way obvious that what the Democrats were trying to accomplish was highly unpopular among the voting public anyway

Most who went with the gang of 8's immigration bill LOST this go around. Most Americans do NOT want amnesty.

Yes, only Americans should have amnesty for breaking the law, right?

Many people speed on the roads each day. Over and above the posted speed limits. When they do that, arent they....breaking the law? Of course they are. If what you say is true, then these people are 'ok' with breaking a law several times a day....BUT....that guy who hopped the border? We should throw the book at him! For what? Fleeing crime, corruption, drugs, hatred, sorrow, disease, agony? Because he wanted to live life better and knew he could never change the mechanics of government (or those that REALLY rule) in his life time.

How petty Americans have become.....

BamaD -> RE: Republican Wave! (11/5/2014 10:27:13 PM)

That is silly. Not catching them, even not enforcing, is not as bad as passing a law to give them a pass. You want to pretend that since not everyone who speeds gets a ticket that is the same as opening the borders to anyone who wants to come in. The Indians (native Americans in Mass) had that policy and see where it got them.

SadistDave -> RE: Republican Wave! (11/6/2014 2:59:00 AM)

I don't think joether seems to grasp the obvious.

I'm sure that if you explained it as having someone come into his living room and just decide to stay there, he still wouldn't get it.

If you further explained to him that when someone moved into his living room, he would accept all responsibility for that person, he still wouldn't grasp the stupidity of his position.

As poor lil' joether spent more and more money on the feeding and care of this random interloper, he would still bask in his ignorance and happily restock the cupboards and pay the added bills.

When the person who had invaded his homes habits inconvenienced him, joether would hide in his bedroom, so as not to make them feel unwelcome.

And let's face it. Joether is a a bit of a dim bulb, so when the guy who just decided to move into his living room sold his house he would stand out on the street wondering what had just happened...

There hasn't been moderate Republican leadership since Ford (not counting his pardoning of Nixon).

They dont change my mind Butch, but then again I am English. [8D]

Constant adds do change minds, because if they didnt work no one would spend $100 million on a campaign. States wouldnt swing from red to blue and vice versa.

Your idea of "moderate" was just given the bums rush

MrRodgers -> RE: Republican Wave! (11/6/2014 1:06:41 PM)

Ads can and do influence the 'undecided' who claim not to vote party line. The whole problem with repubs is that they aren't conservatives. One could probably count on one hand the real conservatives in either house.

ObamaCare was the 'conservative' approach to health care (1992-93 alternative to Hillarycare) until it was proposed by the dems.

Then it became either a socialist govt. take over of health care or worse...communism. That very ignorance caused a swing and was purchased with right wing money and can and did cause the repubs to get out the vote to defeat dems...no matter most the other issues.

Why do 1/3 of those regist. as repubs in Louisiana believe that the failures in the federal response to Katrina was Obama's incompetence ?

Ignorance and M O N E Y !!

Not sure how that happened, since Ford is dead.

But we did just pass Halloween. Did he come back with Elvis?

And who rushed him out this time? (Last time it was voters upset over his pardon of Nixon).
