which proves the point. being born in the US does not guarantee citizenship.

How do you get there from here?
In the case of Samoa it was part of the treaty of annexation. With the native American he was born in a "possession" of the U.S. which contained the nation to which he owed his allegiance. Children, of foreign nationals, born in the U.S. are (according to the 14th. amendment)citizens because they are born here, not in a possession as in the Samoa and the native American case and they have no other allegiance as in the native American case. Their parents have renounced their allegiance by the very fact that they are here with no intention of returning.

The Hispanic, Black, and Asian votes are all gone for the GOP. The GOP has lost control of its fringe, and as such, lost its ability to appeal to most Americans.

Look at Ken Dickey: all he cares about is what he cares about -- he shows little if any ability to empathize with others. Immigration is an imaginary problem created from twisted conservative imaginations --- this view has held the country back in 2007 (Bush Reforms) and cost you elections in 2012 and now 2016.

George Will ain't no leftist. It reminds of Gail Collins who said, the only guy Mitch McConnell hates worse than Barak Obama is Ted Cruz.

As for your post, you are comparing a BAD policy position that affects millions of people DIRECTLY to a minor scandal that affects no one. (No one has proven any harm caused by HC using a private server.) It's not like she started the IRAQ war or botched Afghanistan by using private emails.

For the GOP, guys like you are the problem, and as you've shown in spades you aren't going anywhere.

cloudboy -> RE: Trump's Immigration Plan (8/22/2015 7:30:22 AM)

>Could Trump really change birthright rules?<

NO. Wake up. No landmines. No snipers. No wall. No police state to serve your own big government fantasies. Ain't gonna happen.

At least liberals have fantasies about free higher education and better paying jobs. Those kind of things don't seem to motivate you at all. You see it as "unrealistic."

The Constitution hasn't failed, Congress has.

I read the article and could find no place where CNN said Trump was right. What I did find was a link from CNN to someone who does believe Trump is right. That link was to Ken Klukowski who writes for Brietbart.

Trump is a fucking nutcase, Ken. *Nobody* outside the USA thinks anything different. Nobody on the left, *nor* on the right.

I don't want to exert any pressure, being a non-American and all, but the rest of the world is actually in real and serious fear of the democratic right of millions of brainless American cretins to vote in Trump as the POTUS.

You are right BOY I like what I like. I like
- a strong America
- freedom of choice
- a strong economic system devoid of politics
- legal immigration
- equal opportunity for all

I don't like
- interlopers coming to tell me how to run my business
- politicians telling me how to spend my money whether or not we want to or should
- strong family values
- education
- government entities making decisions beyond their pay grade and without or with limited oversight
- civil forfeiture because it is easily abused
- using the Administration against people for the purpose, perceived or not, of subjegating people

There are things that I both like and dislike. But they aren't necessarily important at this time.

Just what do you believe in BOY?

cloudboy -> RE: Trump's Immigration Plan (8/22/2015 2:19:18 PM)

I don't spend my time concerned about imaginary problems like the EPA being out to get me, putting a wall up in Mexico, lacing the landmines under ground to maim migrants, or putting together a massive deportation machinery to forcibly remove 11 million residents.

^^^ This makes America weaker, weakens the economy, supports failed policies and laws that need to be updated, undermines family values, subjugates people to government authority, and costs tax payers extraordinary amounts of money.

Now, have you checked how many of his buildings have been done with union work?

Republicans have no values that matters for the nation.

No, I don't feel both are necessary, especially when they oppose each other.

How would it be possible for them to oppose one another? Correct me if I am mistaken but when a law is proposed isn't there debate(in committee and on the floor)and finally a vote is taken and the votes are tallied. Wouldn't you agree that knowledge of the process from start to finish would be more useful than simply the tally?

Gee, I don't know....

Obamacare subsidies?
As written, they are only for those who sign up on the State-run exchanges.

Intent (as deduced by the SCOTUS in opposition to Gruber's allegations) was for subsidies to be available to anyone signing up on a State-run or Federal-run exchange.

Clearly, those two things oppose each other.

If you want to go through the discussion process to figure things out, are you still going to argue that the 14th Amendment wasn't intended to include children of illegal aliens?
    quote:

In 1866, Senator Jacob Howard clearly spelled out the intent of the 14th Amendment by stating:
"Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons. It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideratum in the jurisprudence and legislation of this country."

This understanding was reaffirmed by Senator Edward Cowan, who stated:

"[A foreigner in the United States] has a right to the protection of the laws; but he is not a citizen in the ordinary acceptance of the word..."

The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude American-born persons from automatic citizenship whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. With illegal aliens who are unlawfully in the United States, their native country has a claim of allegiance on the child. Thus, the completeness of their allegiance to the United States is impaired, which therefore precludes automatic citizenship.

quote:

quote:

I don't know that slaves were illegal aliens. Please cite your source demonstrating that we knew them as illegals.

How shall we define illegal alien? I think it fair to say that a citizen cannot be an illegal alien. Also fair to say that a tourist could not be an illegal alien as they would have had official papers (passport/visa) declaring their intent to return to their country of origin. They clearly are not citizens, as defined by the constitution. They are clearly not tourist, as they hold no passport nor visa. They have no status except that of non-citizen,non tourist...if one is in the U.S. today and they are not a citizen nor a document holder of some sort one is an illegal alien.

    quote:

The United States did not limit immigration in 1868 when the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified. Thus there were, by definition, no illegal immigrants and the issue of citizenship for children of those here in violation of the law was nonexistent. Granting of automatic citizenship to children of illegal alien mothers is a recent and totally inadvertent and unforeseen result of the amendment and the Reconstructionist period in which it was ratified.

According to the article, there was no limitation on immigration.

So, where do you get that the newly freed slaves were "illegal aliens?"

Trumps got staying power.

Why Donald Trump Won’t Fold: Polls and People Speak

In the command centers of Republican presidential campaigns, aides have drawn comfort from the belief that Donald J. Trump’s dominance in the polls is a political summer fling, like Herman Cain in 2011 — an unsustainable boomlet dependent on megawatt celebrity, narrow appeal and unreliable surveys of Americans with a spotty record of actually voting in primaries.

A growing body of evidence suggests that may be wishful thinking.

A review of public polling, extensive interviews with a host of his supporters in two states and a new private survey that tracks voting records all point to the conclusion that Mr. Trump has built a broad, demographically and ideologically diverse coalition, constructed around personality, not substance, that bridges demographic and political divides. In doing so, he has effectively insulated himself from the consequences of startling statements that might instantly doom rival candidates.

He leads among evangelical Christians, despite saying he had never had a reason to ask God for forgiveness. He leads among moderates and college-educated voters, despite a populist and anti-immigrant message thought to resonate most with conservatives and less-affluent voters. He leads among the most frequent, likely voters, even though his appeal is greatest among those with little history of voting...

Seems CloudBOY doesn't know what he believes in.

A few more things of importance for my list BOY

I believe in
- fair taxes for all based upon their income and with the same percentage being paid
- elimination of most if not all exemptions
- the concept of all people SHOULD have healthcare insurance.
- the right to bear arms.

I don't believe in
- mandated healthcare without choices of services desired
- sanctuary cities
- gay marriage. They need to find a term that encompasses all because the term marriage, until the politically correct crowd changed its definition was between a man and an woman. They find a new term and I'll support it.

So I ask again BOY since you asked me and I had the respect to answer - WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IN BOY?
