Have not watched it yet. But I may have to set my dvr to record all the episodes so I can skip all those commercials!

DS, it makes for excellent binge watching. [:D]

Yeah, I do that in a heartbeat.
As an aside, I read online somewhere that he originally auditioned for the role of Merle, but they liked him so much they wrote the part of Daryl just for him.

I love him.

Can't wait until tomorrow!

Yeah, it's pretty stupid I agree. My kids keep asking me questions like:

"If they are dead, how come they need to eat?"
"Why do they need to eat fresh meat? Why can't they eat other zombies?"
"If their bodies have been rotting for 6 years, how can they even move?"
"If their ligaments are not attached to their bones, they wouldn't be able to move."
"How come we don't see any baby zombies?"

I just have to tell them they're smart to ask such logical questions. And remind them it's a stupid show, but fun to watch. :)

I love zombie stuff, and coming up with silly explanations for my son's questions like this were always fun. But the comment about zombie babies is exactly why I don't watch the show. A while back I caught my first episode, I have no clue which season, but it was of a man and a couple of teens running around trying to stay alive. And they had a baby with them. I found my blood pressure going sky high every time I thought about a zombie getting that little baby. It was more than I could take. And I am not usually squeamish like that. I never tried to watch another episode.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/13/2016 10:21:06 PM)

That would have been Tyreese, Lizzie, Mika, and Judith (the baby). It should have been an episode called "Inmates," which is during the second half of season four. If it helps any, Judith is still alive on the show. You'd have to watch "The Grove" and "What's Happening, What's Going On" to find out the fate of the others.

I watched several episodes last night, and it was tough because Judith was in them, and at one point I thought it was over. I made it through it. Normally I hate knowing what's going to happen, but I am weirdly relieved to know that the fictional baby doesn't die in the fictional show. I may actually be able to watch it now. For all the sense that makes, lol.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 7:03:38 AM)

I make no guarantees past season six, episode eight. Anything that happens after that, I don't know and I can't predict.

I will say that I find the comics to be darker. Robert Kirkman is definitely one twisted f^cker. Some of it is just plain too harsh for cable tv.

*** Only read if you can handle it. ***

The closest the show ever comes (so far) to dealing with the reality that babies die is an episode called "Bloodletting". During the episode, the situation is that a character called "T-Dog" has incurred a very serious cut on his forearm, and he and Dale are searching cars along the highway in hopes of finding some antibiotics. During a search of one of the cars, T-Dog doesn't find pills, but he does find a pack of cigarettes. He takes one out of the pack and lights it up. As he looks to the back seat, he sees a child's safety seat. The evidence of what happened to the child who had been riding in it is obvious. Visibly shaken by the harsh reality of the new world, T-Dog gets out of the car.

*** Only read if you want a hint about the mid-season premiere. ***

This episode is being lauded as something that doesn't happen terribly often. ALL of the cast members will be depicted. All of the characters get screen time. Every character will face their own version of peril. From what I've read, nail-biting doesn't even begin to cover it.

satanscharmer -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 7:47:36 AM)

Ugh. I remember the car seat. That was hard to see.
Anytime there's some sort of huge attack, I ask the TV "Where's Judith?! Who has Judith?!"
I'm counting on them to show the last episode before the new one - I always need a refresher.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 8:52:44 AM)

I double checked the criteria for what constitutes a "spoiler" for this section. The mid-season finale was two months ago, so I'm in the safe zone.

<Cue the cheesy announcer voice.>

When we last left our heroes, a group of our survivors are trying to make their way through an Alexandria full of walkers. Carl is carrying Judith.

See, now I am going to have to watch it.

At work Friday a bunch of people were talking about the show, and one woman said she still hadn't decided whether or not to keep watching, because of Daryl. I had to laugh because this is one of the most even-tempered, rational people I know, and she has been obsessing for weeks about whether or not to watch tv tonight.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 10:10:02 AM)

The question is, if Daryl's fate mirrors that of the graphic novels, is there going to be any reason to continue to watch the show?

Having only watched my first episodes within the last few hours, I can't judge how critical he is to the series. As someone who has, from the outside looking in, watched the popularity and obsession with the show grow, I can't see how losing one character, as pivotal as he is, would bring the whole thing crashing down.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 10:24:39 AM)

I love the show, and a large part of the reason is my "attachment" to the main characters. I'm not invested in the new cast members and if they killed off too many of the original five, I'm not sure if I'd have the same desire to tune in weekly. It would probably become one of those shows I wait for to binge watch on Netflix.

ETA: I had a significant lack of connection to the characters in Fear TWD. I hope that changes in season too. Otherwise I don't see myself being terribly interested in it. I'm more looking forward to the new show coming out by TWD producer (Hurd) I think it's called Hunters or something like that.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 12:19:33 PM)

I was interested in and watched Fear TWD because I was curious to see how the end of our world might play out (zombies not necessary). So I enjoyed that season, watching what people go through when the unthinkable is happening and their minds are 10 steps behind. Once the destruction of the world gets to the place it is in TWD, I don't see watching it anymore unless they do bring out interesting characters. So far they're just mostly assholes.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/14/2016 12:26:02 PM)

I've heard them nicknamed the "first five". There are only five characters left who have appeared in the all seasons since the beginning. (Rick, Carl, Carol, Daryl, and Glenn.) All of them are important to the show.

FtWD (Fear the Walking Dead) hasn't hooked me in the same way. They just aren't likable characters to me. The two I actually liked are dead. (Mrs Grizella Salazar and Alicia's boyfriend Matt.) Props for writing Nicky's character because they wrote the guy as a realistic drug addict. Victor Strand could be an awesome character because he's a deal maker. Daniel Salazar? I don't like him much, but I like the "I'll do what it takes" attitude.

I am so pumped for Negan.

I do like Rick (not nearly the same, but probably enough to still watch the show). But man, there'd be a TON of pissed off fans.
