SC, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing the article you found, too. I'll admit, I'm a bit nervous about the rumors of exactly that. I'll be nail biting during the season six finale. I hope Gimple's got a good place to go into hiding if he takes that path.

By the way, my apologies. I spelled Nicotero's name incorrectly in prior posts.

Win, I'm an Abraham fan, too.

FR

I've got this little hypothesis that they'll never get rid of Eugene. Instead, when the show starts to flag or they begin to run out of ideas, they'll turn him into the finder of the cure for the zombie plague.

The cockroach of characters.
It seems unlikely he would have survived this long in real life, but he does manage to come through when it really counts. Personally, I wouldn't have the patience.

Putting in a couple of lines so no actual spoilers hit the scroll. This is the post that you want to avoid if you haven't seen episode ten of season six yet.

I kind of like episodes like this. Even though it was a search for supplies, it was more what a road trip with your best friend would be like after the zombie apocalypse. I even liked the way they introduced Jesus. (Comic fans have been waiting for his arrival.) Plus, it finally happened. Richonne! I just think they have better on screen chemistry. I was never big on Rick and Jessie.

Was it just me who watched that last scene thinking, 'No! No! They're all sweaty, dirty and smelly!'

Wasn't just you. Wasn't such a big deal made about toothpaste in the opening scene?

Have to admit, though. She was gorgeous in the opening scene.

satanscharmer -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/24/2016 7:04:54 AM)

Don't they have running water?

They did set it up nicely.
At the beginning I made a comment how they were already like a family and the two should hook up.
She was very beautiful, I thought the same thing.

Imagine if she dies next (and I really hope she doesn't. She's my third favorite, right under Rick - pun intended).
If you were Rick, would you be completely done with intimacy?
That'd be hard to recover from, IMO.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (2/25/2016 1:23:38 AM)

You'd never know it by looking at Daryl but yes, they have running water. Sorry but dude seriously needs some shampoo.

I'm kind of seeing one of the short bits from one of the episodes in season five as a retroactive Easter egg now. When they first get to Alexandria and have access to running water and toothpaste after such a long time, there's a small bit in there about Michonne coming out saying that she couldn't stop brushing. She'd been brushing her teeth for twenty minutes. That's why I really liked the toothpaste request/bringing home the breath mints thing.

The question about intimacy is always a good one. Lori's dead, Jessie's dead, so if Michonne ended up dead, too, I could see that being the end of getting close to anybody on that level.

Season six, episode eleven. Avoiding putting spoilers on the scroll.

I think, because episodes nine and ten were just awesome, this one was just <meh> to me. Hilltop didn't wow me. (The main house, yes, because I'd have been into the historical aspect of it. Not a settlement that, aside from the house, looked like mostly FEMA trailers.) I already expected Gregory to be a dick. Not sure how I'm feeling about the quick jump to volunteering to go take care of the Negan problem. We already know that Daryl blew up nine of his guys and Negan still has muscle. I just see it as, if you keep poking the bear with the stick, eventually, you're going to piss the bear off.

I don't want to see another git of a town-leader. Not after David Morrissey. Jesus is more interesting, though.

And I want Darryl to find a lady-friend. (Er, unless his tastes don't go that way? Now that's a thought.)

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/2/2016 2:52:29 PM)

Quit messing with my fantasies, peon, unless you want to be a part of them. [8D]

There are so many "is Daryl gay" articles out there. While I'm still pulling for a Daryl/Carol pairing, it's occurred to me that the show could do something really cool with why Daryl hasn't wanted to be with anybody in that kind of way. Keep in mind, Daryl's father was supposedly a drunk and a very abusive prick. They could totally spin that into he doesn't get intimately involved with women for not wanting to be like his father (who was probably also mistreating his wife since he was being that way towards his sons). It has awesome story line and character development potential.

With all of the speculation about possibly losing one of our first five before the end of the season, they need to hurry the heck up with the idea.

LP, now then. Are you indicating that you have *read* such articles? Hell's bells, aren't we entering obsessive territory, here?

Well, whatever the truth about Darryl, he is, and has always been, a bomb waiting to explode. There's a ton of stuff that could happen with his back-story.

Lordy, you know ... after all this time, this show gives no sign whatsoever that it's tiring. There could have been so many ways in which it could have gone stale ... but it's nowhere near stale. In a way, that's surprising to me: scriptwriters have screwed up before with even the best of premises.

Do you remember 'V' - the remake? Aliens land on Earth, are actually reptiles looking for food (and humans fit the bill) but manage to pass themselves off as benevolent. You might think 'How could scriptwriters fuck up a premise that good?' But they did. They turned it into yet another tedious soap-opera about love and families. It was all repulsive teenagers snogging and weeping, with the producers assuming that we'd all care about said teenagers, though all the while we just wanted to see them killed. God, I hate it when a series starts to zero in on the Romeo and Juliet theme. I cannot dredge up the slightest ability to give a swivelling one about teenagers and their romances and really, really don't give a flying rat's arse if their True Love is Realised, or if they both get machine-gunned out of their - and our - misery.

In short, the V series' bosses made an absolute brainless, mushy, bollocks of it. Perhaps they got too scared of stepping outside The Formula. No surprise that it wasn't signed for a second series. Well, that clearly hasn't happened with TWD. The makers avoid stale old stereotypes like the plague, it seems. Good for them.

I think I knew that TWD would be ace the moment that Maggie and Glenn got together. A Chinese-looking bloke and an all-American, big-eyed, strong-toothed American lass - *that* was new. 'Right', I thought, 'This show has some guts'.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/2/2016 3:38:43 PM)

Hello. My name is Lady Pact and I am a "The Walking Dead" addict.

I absolutely do read articles about the show. They aren't all Daryl focused. I think I mentioned to you before, when they pulled that trick about Glenn being dead, I was reading speculations and such. When they post the Comic Con panels on youtube, I watch those, too. I do it more than when I first started watching.

I don't think I've seen the "V" remake. The original, I was glued to the set. Remakes are always iffy. I agree with you that they sometimes take something very cool and just completely screw it up.

The original was *fab*. I, and every kid I knew, was glued to the set, every week. God, how well that *could* have been done with modern computer graphics and suchlike, in the revamped series.

As for TWD: most of all, by far - I want poor Rick to have a lady-love who *doesn't die*. I keep thinking, he's a reluctant leader. Nothing but grimness for him, relentlessly. He deserves a bit of long-term happiness, the sad sod. Well, his new GF is capable of looking after him. Thank god for a woman who can pack a punch, I say - especially one who looks pretty damned feisty and handsome when all sweaty in a fight. [:)]

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/2/2016 5:32:49 PM)

Yeah. I get you. TWD isn't exactly a glamorous show but the opening scene from last week's episode was one of those 'holy heck, she's pretty' moments. The actress is stunning and that doesn't get to come out an awful lot in character. Not to mention, she's very intelligent, and it shows in her interviews.

How many times has she smiled, to date? Two, three? I hope the scriptwriters let her lighten up a little. And Rick, for that matter. Then they could do 'funny and subtle' together. I'd like that, anyway.

satanscharmer -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/2/2016 7:11:04 PM)

I actually liked the "V" remake. [&o]
In my defense, I had never heard of the series prior to that so I wasn't comparing it to anything.

PeonForHer -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/3/2016 5:47:18 PM)

Freddie Kruger was in the original. It wasn't bad. Kept me hooked, anyway: the plot moved pretty swiftly into the mode of rebels defending the world against the aliens. Few distracting and tedious subplots about teenagers snogging each other etc.

LadyPact -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/7/2016 2:46:09 PM)

Dang it, UK people. Hurry up and watch this episode! [8D]

PeonForHer -> RE: The Ultimate Season Six thread for The Walking Dead (3/8/2016 3:23:25 PM)

Watched it. It was good. Lotsa action, but much soul-searching to follow, I fancy.
