We have better slang over here.
I always find it hilariously that the chavs (who are remarkably racist) go around trying to speak like black rappers. You're paler than most fucking goths, lads: that isn't going to convince anybody. At least if they spoke like a proper British wide boy the high pitched squeaky delivery would be less obtrusive. (I really hope the suggestion I heard that the stupid little twats do that because they think it makes them sound like they've been autotuned isn't on the level, but they probably are stupid enough to try to fake that, sadly...)

You know the 'gangster' kids on the estates here refer to the police as 'the feds'? God that makes me wince. It's embarrassing.

Do they do so in a affected castrato shriek and a fake sarf lahndahn accent as well?

I was thinking of the SE London kids, in fact - that's where I spent my twenties. The gangsta kids around Bristol, where I am now, aren't even intelligible to me.

WhoreMods -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (9/4/2017 4:38:36 AM)

Mea culpa. They can get away with the accent in south east London, I suppose.

herservant -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (9/6/2017 2:05:17 AM)

When I hear the word "thick" I think of women like Ariel Winter or Kate Upton. Some people think women with those kind of bodies are fat. I think they're gorgeous.

Well, I've always been partial to chunky calves on a woman, me. No idea where that came from, mind you.

I have always been partial to a man being thick. [;)]

(Not thick-headed with his big head, mind you...)

Here in northeast New England, "Wicked Pissah" is a compliment. As in, "That gal is one WICKED PISSAH!"

Watersports are big up there?

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (9/6/2017 4:37:28 AM)

Around here calling a woman "thick" might get you punched. "Curvy" is a much safer, more feminine term.

When we say someone is thick, it usually means we think they are a bit slow in the brain function.

That would be the assumption here in S. England, too.

I saw on youtube, one man comment that, "That girl's legs is thick!"

Then of course women got offended.

And then loads of men defended the dude explaining to the girl that, calling a girl "thick" is a compliment. It means her legs are hot and womanly! The Original person who made that comment also wrote back to confirm it was meant to say she is hot.

I'm just curious in what countries do men use "thick" as a compliment?

I think to most women, that would sound like an insult.

*************

Chics get offended at everything.

If you say they look good without makeup....you're a hater for the naturals.

If you say (at 40...or....50) they look great...you'll get drilled about "compared to the women in your office....WHAT do you MEAN?"

You're a "shamer" if you like thin women...you're a "shamer" if you like big girls.

If you like girls that fit in the middle...look out....(you're probably gay).

If you look at a woman in a social circumstance and you're older (and don't look like Brad Pitt), you're a perv. If you DON'T look at her (and she dressed up for the night)...you're gay.

If you have money...you're a boor....if you don't...well....

The ONLY thing a smart man (with money) can do at any social gathering is....have a hot chic on your arm so all the women can wonder "what's he packing?"
(and rest assured...if you say NOTHING the entire night....you'll be Frank Sinatra).

(In ANY case...unless you look like Brad Pitt (or Frank)....the best thing to do is....wait for your phone to ring because....you're an asshole.

KinkyBlackMan -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (9/7/2017 7:05:53 AM)

Yes, thick is a compliment here in the US.

Just because you intend it as a compliment does not mean it will be taken as one

When this popped up on my Facebook feed today, it reminded me of the confusion and contrary opinions in this thread... especially since it named a body part as being thick and lists it as an asset. Apparently "thick" is common enough of a compliment to used as T-shirt slogan media.

Now I think about his more "thunder thighs" is probably the closest UK equivalent, and it definitely isn't a compliment...

(Just because a man didn't mean anything untoward at all....doesn't mean most chics won't be offended).

Reminds me of that old joke..."If a blind man walks in to a forest....will Helen Keller still be offended?"

(Yes).

Of course he did (he's a guy).

(He has a penis...ergo...he's wrong)

She's right, he missed the point of that shirt. Never at any point did she say it was because he's a man.

Oh, no, no, no indeed.

You are thick
your brain damaged
and your looks abhorrent
