I saw on youtube, one man comment that, "That girl's legs is thick!"

Then of course women got offended.

And then loads of men defended the dude explaining to the girl that, calling a girl "thick" is a compliment. It means her legs are hot and womanly! The Original person who made that comment also wrote back to confirm it was meant to say she is hot.

I'm just curious in what countries do men use "thick" as a compliment?

I think to most women, that would sound like an insult.

Women get offended at everything.

(Because...they can).

Men will defend women on anything.

(Because they think it'll get them pussy).

Yes, thick is a compliment here in the US.

Calling someone stupid is a compliment?
Not in any part of the U.S. I've ever been to.

Girls is "lardy fuckwit" a compliment?

Certainly. Didn't you see the film in which David Niven said 'Darling, you're such a lardy fuckwit!' to Jean Simmons and she melted into his passionate embrace?

I think the problem is, WM, that this is mainly an American forum and they just don't know how to do sensitive and stylish romance the way we Brits do.

If followed by 'as shit' then no, not a compliment.

Growing up in Detroit, I watched the compliment "thick" migrate from black culture to the hip underground 40 years or so ago. Like "phat", it is compliment on womanly curves. So in the USA, major cities, thick is a most often used as a compliment as far as I know.

Hey RS, going back 40 years, Likely you also remember the Jethro Tull album ...

"Thick as a Brick"

Great album and music, no?

Even though it was not MOTOWN.

[;)] Enjoy

ResidentSadist -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (10/12/2017 12:14:36 AM)

That was an epic album. I remember it well. Hell, Jethro Tull was an amazing artist... a fusion of styles in much the same way as Traffic or ELP. Mixing rock, jazz and classical flavors in his own unique signature style. Thanks for the flashback. I popped over to Youtube and listened to the lp. It was ear candy.

"Really don't mind if you sit this one out."

"My words but a whisper your deafness a SHOUT.
I may make you feel but I can't make you think.
Your sperm's in the gutter your love's in the sink.
So you ride yourselves over the fields and
You make all your animal deals and
Your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick."

I prefer Aqualung, myself. TAAB is a great album, but I'd enjoy it more if it was broken up into a few tracks...

No HE was not, HE isn't a HE, He is a THEY. Jethro Tull is the name of the band, not any of the members of the band. At the time Thick as a Brick came out Jethro Tull consisted of Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Evan, Jeffrey Hammond, and Barriemore Barlow

And a shitload of session musicians, if I'm thinking of the right album: that's the one that's one long number with timpanis all over it and a couple of xylophone solos?

I personally find "thick" Women to be very attractive. That's just me. However, I wouldn't just say that to any Lady I see. That's out of respect for the Lady. I have told some Women that I have seen that I think they are very beautiful and I mean that in a respectful manner.

Greta75 -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (10/13/2017 12:34:42 AM)

FR
In conclusion, when men think a woman is "thick" body figure wise, it's actually meant to be a compliment.

Because if they think a lady is unattractively overweight, he wouldn't even be thinking "thick". He would be thinking "fat" outright. And would just call her "fat".

Some men has the awareness that, "thick" is not an appropriate word to pay a woman a compliment and knows not to use it.

And some men just feels like, they love 'thick' women, it's a genuine compliment, why shouldn't they use it.

That's the summary! :)

So what is the political correct term for a man who likes a woman who is bigger than a normal woman? That a woman who is bigger than normal can take it as a compliment?

Ian Anderson is still an amazing artist (Flautist from Jethro Tull). From his latest album, Homo Erraticus:

They weren't talking about her body but commented on the posts... So thick would indeed be a compliment, in fact a rather generous one, obviously somebody didn't want to say effed up crazy bint who should be on meds or kept away from people

ShiftyGears -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (11/1/2017 9:12:07 PM)

Yea its a compliment, cause he wants you to break his neck with your legs. haha *wink wink*

edit: supposed to be in reply to OP. smh

Thick is a description, a little like saying someone has brown eyes and is not to be equated with saying someone is fat or obese.

To me saying someone is thick is saying they are not petite or fragile and are not likely to break easily.

Examples of thick women can be found in sports like Wrestling or Boxing and I would say Ronda Rousey is thick and most people would consider her pretty.

95 posts later.
Not one woman who has responded in those 95 posts have said its a compliment.
I wonder why that is. Not a single one.
Thanks to the chaps who COULD and did see it as an insult.
To the rest, it becomes like a self fulfilling prophesy.

DocStrange -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (12/30/2017 9:09:44 AM)

Lucy hit the nail on the head!
Fuck ups, then trying to come to the forums to "explain" your way out of said fuck up, never ends well.

WhoreMods -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (12/30/2017 9:13:23 AM)

The whole notion that the internet usage* of "thick" somehow makes it a compliment is a strange one, true enough.

*("she's definitely a bit on the plump side, but not such a hogbeast that I wouldn't give her one, and not even lardy enough that my mates will call me a chubby chaser if they see me with her")

Lucy, the key of the post is not about IF women think it's a compliment.

But when men actually use that word to describe a woman's body. Do they mean it as an insult or a compliment?

That is what my OP was about.

Obviously, all women would hate any word that would suggest she is larger than slim.

Probably even Ronda Roussey would find it insulting to be called thick. That's pretty much most women reaction to that word. I mean, even women like Beyonce are described as thick sometimes, you see online.

So I appreciate the different opinions from different men on this word.

Lucylastic -> RE: Guys, is "thick" a compliment? (12/30/2017 9:38:57 AM)

i dont care why you posted what you posted
Some men think its ok to use as a word to describe a woman.
They have been informed that its NOT, by women
Yet they still insist, that it is to them.thereby missing the point, that should they use it in public, to a woman they want to impress, they are likely to get more than a polite "no thankyou".
It says more about them, than it says about anyone that is the target.
