the company is not "failing"

its simply getting less revenue than in the past, and the only recognizable thing, at least to the public, is less viewership related to the nfl, and their being associated with the nfl.

The problem with blaming the NFL and Kaepernic's protest is that movie attendance has just reported a 22 year low. Go explain that. I would guess there are other external forces at work. Streaming movies maybe?

Big socialism freaks in Hollywood alienating half of their audience by pushing a literally communist agenda plays a leading role in that picture as well

that, and please Vincent, by all means, make the intimate connection between movie attendance being low and papa john's pizza sales being down.

I've already told this board why Papa John's sales are down. They are suffering from competition...for food. These aren't the days when Dominos first franchised the pizza delivery market.

The NFL viewership started down long before the national anthem deal and because it's becoming a shit product.

Lack of good coaching
bumbling players not professional at all
Crazy self-absorbed celebrations and behavior after almost ever fucking rare successful play and TD's have gotten out of hand.
'Great' passes that are in reality, mostly jump balls down field.
dropped passes
extremely inconsistent officiating with conferences on almost every call.
penalties on almost every fucking kickoff or punt
far too much commercial time some of it an effort to make up from reduced income from them

There's more but get this today:

First time in 51 years (1966) a team won with more penalty yards then yards of offense and from a team considered a contender no less.

The NFL should be embarrassed and I don't watch because of any team. I watch the ones I wager on...that's it.

Example of what the average fans sees: I had been a Wash. fan for over 50 years and see that they still suck, are horribly mismanaged and as Ive known for many years now, would never win a super bowl again as long as that ignorant, greedy, socialist (wants a new taxpayer financed stadium) otherwise known as just more capitalist scum...Dan Snyder, owns the team.

If Papa Johns lost some dough, then he can tell his minimum wage hirelings otherwise known as the great capitalist proletariat...to make some more dough.

You're right (again). NFL profits went UP EVERY YEAR (for about 30 years) UNTIL 2016 and that is obviously due to the devolution of the game.

Again: Ya can't make this shit up.

Well some of that windfall up until 2016 and for many years now, is directly as a result of cable TV. ESPN and NFL Network being on the 1st tier (ESPN) or 2nd tier NFL Net...are heavily subsidized by every household that can get them...but don't watch it.

As the broadcast rights go up ($8.4 billion from ESPN) every cable bill is threatened to go up. When as we all know, the subscribers begin to feel the pinch by paying more for that and other channels they don't want...they pull the plug.

A neighbor of mine, friend and sports junkie, has the entire Century Link sports package and pays $120/mo. $14 of which is land-line telephone.

So ... NFL fans are unplugging from cable and that's why the viewership is going down?

First, fans of local teams, by NFL rules, have to be able to see their team play as long as there have been enough tickets sold to the game, itself (NFL teams have been known to buy tickets from themselves in order to accomplish this). Sure, they could have one of those digital antennae that only provides local programming and still be able to see their games but, I doubt that's a large portion of the market.

Second, in the case of "displaced" fans (such as myself) who don't live in the "local" market: Why would they unplug from the only means by which they can get their game, every week (DirecTV)?

I have no doubt that people are unplugging in large numbers. I question an NFL fan, suddenly severing themselves from their lifeline to the NFL.

No, I think people are good and pissed off at the NFL and I strongly doubt it's because the game has changed so drastically, the last couple of seasons. Officiating has sucked for a decade. Quarterbacks were turned into "special snowflakes", decades ago.

I wonder what could be causing such disfavor for the NFL? I'm sure it has something to do with the Thursday night uniforms, next.

He would disagree.....James Murdcock.

Although there have been a lot of theories on why the NFL's TV numbers have tumbled from Donald Trump to national anthem protesters to Roger Goodell feuding with players Fox chief executive officer James Murdoch isn't buying into any of them.

Murdoch, who spoke at the Paley International Council Summit in New York on Wednesday, said he believes ratings are down because there's an "overproliferation" of football. Basically, there are so many opportunities for fans to watch games that the market is now oversaturated.

HERE

I say it's the above and it's a shit product.

Tackling is a lost art.
Getting two feet down on passes is too.
Everybody running out of bounds soon as they, players going down on their own...don't want the hit.
Quarterbacks bailing out on plays and going down or throwing the ball away..

Yes, was you have is correct. However, all of my lists are coming together and is now the entire game we watch...and every game.

None of which is new to the last two years.

Just excuses, more trying to ignore the elephant.

That's the obvious point. The product, behavior by all players and performance has been sliding for years and I agree with Murdock, market saturation and this has been brewing for years, coming to a head now.

The national anthem bullshit is a sorry commentary on American appreciation for the BoR.

You're no better at mind reading than the rest of your friends on the Left.

My issue with this has NEVER been the Bill of Rights.

The players have every right to behave like spoiled little scumbags and I have every right to call them spoiled little scumbags for doing so.

My issue has been and always will be with the NFL/Roger Goodell for not behaving like a business and disciplining its employees.

You see, the Constitution doesn't guarantee anyone employment, when they've pissed off the boss. It just guarantees they won't go to jail.

It's time to remove the anti-trust protections enjoyed by the NFL and let some other football league compete and see where the cards fall.

you strongly allude to it, but i'll come right out and say it: not only is he no better at mind reading than the rest of the comrades, he's in the same dismal boat in not actually understanding the 1st amendment. ive lost count of how many times they've had to be corrected on that very point.

It occurs to me that there's an incongruity of thought happening, here. I swear I am not assigning motive (yet) like "hypocrisy" or such, but it bears revealing:

There's a contingent in this country that is convinced the NFL, forcing these spoiled little baby-men to stand for the anthem would be a "violation" of the 1st Amendment, but a good portion of those same people believe the government (courts), forcing a baker to violate their Christian tenets is NOT a violation of that same amendment.

I think there's a gap in principles, here.

Peace,

Michael

i wonder how much of that seeming discrepancy is owe-able to the latter instance involving "discrimination" against one of their pet groups and its simply a matter of their choosing the side they think is more important? which is actually all the more easy to do in this case because of their general hatred of Christianity.

that is, they value "anti discrimination" more than they value religious freedom in general, and all the more so because its gays vs Christians.

There's a quote that comes immediately to mind. It was a sentence spoken by a man I greatly admire. In the context of that day, one of the words could clearly be construed to mean "Discrimination":

quote:

ORIGINAL Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Red Font by DaddySatyr)

"Injustice (Discrimination) anywhere is a threat to justice, everywhere."

I think it's fair to give some people a break in that they believe their sect of Christianity to be the "won twue way" for everyone. Of course, most religions believe that, also. It's just that only certain "Christians" wish to use the government to force their sect upon the rest of the populace.

"Pro bono publico, you heathen bastards!"

Peace,

Michael

How easily you sweep away the cruel history of slavery and the continuing consequences. Shameful that some Christians believed they could lawfully OWN other humans. And now the progeny of both are dissatisfied.
