A wise man once said something along the lines of 'i may fight with you over everything you say, but i'll fight for your right to say it'. Popeye has what i believe to be an honestly held view. i disagree with it for several reasons, as i have posted. However, to cut him off from debate is to deny the possibility of change. Essentially it is to give up, a surrender. Never give up.

It seems to me that those who have a problem with illegals, now could have a solution; Oh happy day! All you need do, is to shoot them - and then run your car into their dying bodies. Since it was the running over by car which killed them, the most you will face is a charge of wounding - and then you can argue that it was a mercy shot after the car collision since they wouldnt have had medical insurance for treatment of their injuries. In any case, theyre illegals anyway, so have no right to be regarded as human beings - the most you might get is a small fine for using a gun in a prohibited place or the sort of fine you might get for running over someone's dog? E

Even better. If a precedent can be set for illegals having no recourse or protection under the law, then you should immediately release all the serial killers still held in US gaols. They can be set to the task of solving the illegal immigrant problem, enjoying themselves to their psychoses' content, and this will deter others from entering the US. Everyone's happy. E

....i just wish this stayed an honest debate, instead of the point scoring. There is one of those hard-to-define-but-enormously-important points being debated here. From a discussion of a tragic accident, this has legitimately moved to a discussion about the nature of human rights. To whom do they apply? What classes as a human right? On a day when it is reported that the US has unilaterally changed the definition of torture this is the important point. Cheap point scoring off Popeye achieves nothing. i will argue with Popeye as hard as i can when i disagree with him, and i will try to argue with him on facts or concepts. Sarcasm though just makes it harder for people to listen.

Human rights are those inalienable rights we have as human beings - unless we happen to be aliens in which case we are not human beings in the first place. That seems to be about the score? And MC is right - human rights only exist where we can enforce them. The problem here seemingly being, that we can now pick and choose according to our own interests, who qualifies as human, which rights are applicable when, and whose rights we feel like protecting today. The slippery slope to dictatorship and absolute allegiance and submission to the Leader, lies before us once we start talking like that. If you want human rights - well then, obey and submit to the Leader. If you dont obey and submit then you no longer qualify as a citizen or a human being and all bets are off. Any good citizens here need an organ transplant? I should warn you though I'm not in such good shape...... E

On behalf of the aboriginal people of North America (of whom I am a mixed breed descendant) I'd appreciate if you would please go home if you are living in the "USA". We agree, we should have closed our boarders, but now that the US citizens are finally able to see that people don't be long here if they didn't arrive here legally, I think now is as good a time as any to get the fuck off our ancestral lands. I really appreciate the sudden sensitivity to our plight.

I read that in the newspaper this morning....why should cops be exceptions to the law? He should serve his time but we all know a cop won't serve half as much time as one of us...sad but true...I am mostly Native American Indian (Cherokee) so I'm about to tell all of you'll to get off my land lol[:D]
