*sigh* Yeah, I've met such a wide variety of people with a wide variety of experience... it has nothing to do with time.  Experience can't be measured in time but in what you took from that experience.  I was willing to give this 18 year old the bennie of the doubt .... Till I got to talking to her.  oy vey!  I'd not let anyone I know be her sub!
On the other hand, I've met a 15 year old Dom that can put most of the people who've been doing this and very active to shame because he was like a freakin SPONGE and had this eerie concentration and intuition.. *shiver* super cool.

My main point with my responses was that just because someone thinks they're a Dom doesnt' make them a dominant.  Same for subs.  I've met people who say they're one thing, then when we met up, they're totally the opposite.  I mean, I change according to who I'm around (us darn switches!) but you'd think that after you've talked to someone for a while you'd have figured out whether you're Dom or sub or indifferent to them. How stinkin annoying!

Oh, and the ones that tell me I'm a sub, I don't know what Dom is or how to be Dom.  *snicker* Tell that to my subs.  I'm sub to some, Domme to some.  The ones that pay attention know that I switch.  The ones that are too arrogant to see beyond themselves and what they want see exactly that - only one part of my personality.  And screw them.

Oh that brings me to another thing!  So-called Doms who equate "submissive" with needy, co-dependent, weak, stupid, lazy or a host of other negative things or when they refer to me as "girl" or "slave" in an initial email.  They're very quickly reminded that I'm neither of those things.  Also, the arrogance of some Doms who think that just because they're a Dom means I'm going to swoon and give up my entire life because they've emailed me.  I am respectful to those that treat me with respect.  Those who do not, quickly find out that this kitty has claws.  =)

HarryVanWinkle, thank you for starting this thread! This is better than therapy!

the same things that irritate me about people in general:  ignorance, irresponsibility, stereotyping, hypocrisy, hubris, blah blah blah...

People with experience that feel that they know everything and their experience applies to everyone elses situations.
People who do not open their minds and see others' points of view, even if they only agree to disagree with them.  There are many ways to look at a given situation.
People who don't respect others just because they claim to be a submissive or slave.
And lastly, people who lie about who they are or what they like just to gain favor of another.

Just my humble opinion (just had to add that!!!)

LA I tend to laugh at it too sometimes, but other times it's gets a bit irritating when I don't conform to the norm and someone says 'OMG Squeakers you didn't have a safe call and you met in private---you'll end up dead!!!!' Seriously would anyone on the net really care if I did wind up dead?   And honestly no one would know anyways---it's not like I have a statement in my will----'after my death go to collar me and let them know that I finally got killed because I didn't have a safecall.'
I follow my own gut and conform to my own rules and guidelines.

People who learn about BDSM via the internet, get some RL experience, and then instead of improving the medium by which they were originally exposed to BDSM criticize it as a way to look 'cool.'  Obviously if we make fun of the internetz then we are more real!

I absolutely agree with this...

What do I find the most irritating? Well recently it is "people" that talk about performing sexual acts on other members of this site that are nonconsensual and think this is cute and funny... then they do not understand why the people they are making these comments to get uptight about them
Ditto.....oh so very Ditto!!!!!!!!..have one particular gent in mind on that one Julia!..Tempting

People who are rude and/or arrogant.

On the subject of “one wayism”

Let me split "one wayism" into two parts, both of which are irritating but one more so for me than the other. There are the people who profess their way is the only way. I find this irritating and arrogant but I ignore it and continue doing it my way. And there are the people who are looking for the one way. . . "Does a dominant XXXX" "What is the right size for XXXX" This person scares me. The first person has an ego problem, the second person is the start of a mob. Of course taken too far even my view becomes "one wayism"

My pet peeve, I have 2.
The ones that whine that they cant find anyone (after a whole week or so of searching) and then when they do finally find someone they complain like crazy when it doesnt work out on the first try.

Second is the ones who think they need to offer you ideas on how to train or interact with your sub without getting to know anything about you, or them.

I lveo the free exchange of ideas, and I dont even mind the "its al about me" stuff... I just dont like the unrealistic expectations, I guess.

OK, I'l add that to mine as well.  Those who think that becasue they are in an open forum, they dont need to respect anyone elses opinions and those that dont agree, they can attack with whatever they can think of.

On a serious note what I find staggering is the absence of clear thinking...Those that wish to eliminate the "vanilla" from their lives and then can't imagine why relationships don't work out?  The majority of what we learn is instilled in us at a young age...Many of the same pitfalls that inflict relationships "here" are no different from the ones affecting all relationships in general.

I know this might be somewhat contradictory statement but I wish the women out here had more balls.  Meaning that I enjoy the company of a woman who is diverse, and realizes the sum of who she is cannot be defined by her three holes.

The use of the words real, true, fake, wannabee or other words designed to try and get someone to think less of what they do or how they feel.  "You are not a real/true submissive/dominant if you do X"  or "You are just a fake/wannabee because you won't do X"

This also is a big bug of mine. There seems to be a percentage of people who feel the need to self promote themselves by tearing others down and/or get on a pedestal and tell you how the right way to live another person’s life.

I am also with LA, “For me it's people who think certain things DON'T happen in the scene because it's just "too out there."

In a more general way it always bothers me when people who have either never done something and/or is a limit feel the need to chastise, warn or write in such a tone to judge others who do the things. It is like since they will not do this then others should not either because I need to be the coolest which none of this is ever about.

There are a lot of people who warn you about the dangers of fast food as they are lighting up their umpteenth cigarette.

Newbies who are "under protection" of some online dom....like he can really do something to protect them from whatever it is they need protecting from.  Also, same newb's whose emails must all be sent to DaddyOnlineDom for approval, censoring, or whatever it is they do with them.

Amen, that was so much better and classier then what I just posted. Wish I would have written that instead.

I will add when people throw in the reason of “keeping it real” or “this is just who I am” because there is no way a person can go through life and hold a job and keep friends if that was truly the case.

don't know if someone has already mentioned this since i didn't read everyone else's responses - however what peeves me the most is the thought only real-time submissives are true submissives.

just because i'm not lucky and fortunate like many of you to have your Dom close to you doesn't  make me less of a submissive to my Daddy.  i'm not a "service" submissive (whatever that is). i'm a full-time daughter-submissive to my DaddyDom.
