Actually, I find that so rarely the case, that I said as much ON my profile!  Many people don't even know the boards exist!  Seems a shame to me...I teach submissives I'm interested in how to 'search' the boards and suggest they go read there.

I'll be sure to find that other thread...

That's one of the things that initially attracted me to CM; to be able to get to know more about a woman by reading her posts before making contact (and vice versa).

I see a good sub as someone similar to a Geisha .  One that is well versed in all pleasuring skills in , AND OUT of the playroom .

So to me , a well rounded sub would take care of themselves both physically and mentally ,  and be able to hold their own verbally in conversation .  Along with being a companion in the truest sense .   Someone fun , and exciting to be with while sharing in many activities  .

Thus - what I'd like to see, and what I find the most appealing first contacts to be,  are those that tell me of the PERSON , not just that they are submissive and have a big foot fetish !   I want to hear of their strengths , and feel a sense of confidence .  What do they have to offer that will make both our lives together more interesting , easier, and fun ?

And because there is never a second chance at a first impression - those that take the time to write more than a line  (or a few silly words) ,  with meaningful content - and make sure their spelling and grammar are reasonably acceptable ,  will always cause me to have a second long look !

Please do give thought to the fact that while I am ~asking~ what kinds of service you can provide, I am ~learning~ about you as the person - how you respond to questions, if you are eloquent, if you are long or short winded, are you humble or overly proud? I learn more from the first conversation and what the sub asks me than I do from their answers to many of my questions.

But that does remind me that in initial e-mails I should ask if they like going through caves, driving through animal parks where we feed animals by hand, riding roller coasters and playing at water parks, and photography.

Elorin,

The same question is colored differently by different contexts. The question about labor skills is different for someone seeking a barter relationship than for someone seeking a service only relationship than for someone seeking a romantic D/s relationship.

Even if I did not know about you, your relationship circumstances, your interest in service for its D/s value, and your interest in submissives beyond what skills they have, your post seems fine to me. When I write an introduction that is for service only, I do indeed discuss service skills as examples of how I have served in the past, what ways I am willing to serve, and to convey my interest in service by demonstrating that I learned these skills because of this interest. As I have examined my objection to this question, I have found it to be pertinent when a non-erotic unworthiness is suggested, which I do not see from you. In fact, I can even see myself processing this unworthiness appropriately and still engage but on a one-on-one or one-on-few basis versus a general basis. In these forums, I process on a general basis. I will add that for this type of processing, I am discussing a different type of a relationship than what I generally seek.

I see your point that communication in general sheds light on a person. Thanks for hearing my point. I am off to add another pedicure tip to the mix of things ;-)

Cheers,

Sea

Here's one for pedicures, use 3 strokes of polish; one down the center and one on each side of it.

This advice applies for the big toe only ;-) For the other toes, one stroke suffices.

A sitting bottle of nailpolish needs to be shaken. Shaking it like an aerosol can will create bubbles inside the polish. A better technique is to roll the bottle between the hands (the movement of the hands is the same as what one would do to warm up cold hands).

I use two coats and keep the first coat thin so that it has dried enough for a thicker second coat when I come back to that nail.

In addition to the clear aftercoat, I use a clear or white precoat. I do so because I am of the impression using darker colors directly on the nail leaves a bit of stain on the nails.

I think nails also look beautiful unpainted and carry a notion in me that including periods of unpainted nails is good for the nails. That is probably the part of me that appreciates things organic. I consider skin care to be the more important part.

I have heard keeping nailpolish in a fridge is good for the polish. However, I recommend taking it out or hiding it behind the produce if you are going to host a gamewatching party and the beer is in the fridge ;-)

This public announcement about pedicure tips is sponsored by Elorin ;-)

My advice in general towards any skill--be that skill pedicures or fixing plumbing--is to seek information from a forum that carries expertise in that area. I initially got the pedicure steps from a woman who used to give salon pedicures in the past. And Google is my friend. If I were looking to do something with plumbing, I would find a home improvement forum or the like, or contact a friend whom I know to be handy.

Cheers,

Sea

Sea,

Exactly!  In another post somewhere, I believe I made the same correlation between do-me subs and wannabe-dom/mes.

<snip>
…and understand that while I’m asking such things, I’m also asking about gardening and music and fishing and camping and films and books and foods and cooking and…

Thanks for the further clarification in your post :)

I can wholeheartedly understand that if you felt, when asked a question, it implied that you were somehow lacking or unworthy outside the realm of sex, you would object to the question. Thank you for the point...

And the pedicure tips. ~giggles~

Not so grasshopper!  It depends on the size of the toe!

I agree, I was taught to roll the bottle as well.

For me, it depends on the woman's preferences and the condition of her nails.  I tend to use an oil first (usually something like a rose tips based oil) after doing her cuticles.  This is particularly helpful to those women who have trouble with nails that tend to split, plus it helps those with dry skin.    I agree that a base coat does seem to help prevent discoloration of the nails.  Many are also reinforced to strengthen the nail and thus further strengthen the nail, helping prevent splitting.  Again, it really depends on the woman, the condition of her nails, and her preferences as to whether or not I apply a base coat.

Perhaps that's why I have something of a preference for the American version of "French Nails"?  I have an appreciation for the clear look with the white tips.   Now if only I could learn to do it well (need to have a steadier hand for the tips)!

Hmmm...  I will have to try that one!  It makes a certain amount of sense, but doesn't it cause the polish to get a bit thick?

Makes sense.  I learned a lot about plumbing and such while putting myself through college; working for a slum lord (actually he was a very good friend of mine) repairing low rent housing.  I learned a lot in general about housing repairs back then; framing, drywalling, plastering, pouring concrete, etc.  I also did refrigeration work and for a while held a State certification for doing brazing work that was required at that time.  But that was many years ago (geez ~25 yrs).  After redoing three houses from top to bottom while living in them, I vowed after the last one I'd never do that again unless I absolutely had no choice.   Minor repairs or small projects are a different thing.  Have even made some furniture with the help of a former father in law.  That was lots of fun.

They have forms you can use.  Apply two coats of the clear or buff colored first with the form in place.  After it dries, it will leave a small ridge to use as a guide for the tip.  While painting the tip, instead of the standard 3 stroke forward pull, use a side stroke and allow the polish to cover the edge of the nail too, which helps prevent moisture from getting underneath the polish.  It takes practice and you may find yourself wiping polish off the skin until you are better at this technique.

*Okay, for now on I need a subby type to proofread my posts.  Any volunteers?

You have painted toes where the smaller toes needed three strokes as you describe, cricket? Take a picture of that next time, will ya? Was it Shaq with his size 25 feet?

The polish gets a chance to warm up to room temperature if you pull it out before the pedicure. I imagine over time the polish breaks down and refrigeration slows down the break down process.

Sea

I like to see posts that are not about their cocks, kinks and sexual desires. If they post something that shows introspection or a desire to learn about themselves then I think it is a wonderful thing.

Thank you for the tip Domin8ting!  I'd expect the local Sally's Beauty Supply would carry the forms you speak of.  I've used polish touch-up/removal "pens" in the past for fixing mistakes and I think they'd be a very handy item to have around while learning this technique.

In many professions, Mistresses cannot wear colored nails (Nurses for example), plus I find this style to be very pleasing to my eye.

Sea,
It was the middle toe and sometimes the one next to the big one that required 3 strokes (I often require many more strokes for myself, or so Mistress tells me as she smiles wickedly at me with lust in her eyes... ).  Plus, I was also speaking of manicures, not just pedicures.  Some of us subs try our best to provide full service.

Oh, and I suspect I once had a blind date with the Incredible Hulk's cousin.  The photo had a decidedly green cast to it and I don't think we were under flourescent lights.  She had very big toes and wore shoes larger than Herman Munster!

What you say makes sense to me.  That would be consistent with the "store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight" warning labels that appear on many products such as nuclear bombs.

If you cannot find the forms in packages of their own, get a 'french manicure kit'.  The forms usually come with those.

I haven't provided professional manicure services for quite some time...I imagine there are all sorts of new goodies available for those who do.

Oh my, sounds like I should start a business for Dommes called "Pixel's Pedicure Palace" or something similar!  It could be staffed with buffed-out, half-dressed boys in leather thongs properly trained in giving manicures & pedicures to discriminating ladies. LOL!  We could have a massage therapist in back, skilled in relieving tired muscles (Sea comes to mind) plus a reflexologist or two always ready to pamper tired and sore feet with invigorating rubs to relax & perhaps exhillarate/excite them as well (I know how much some of you ladies get off on having your feet rubbed)!

With a clientelle of 3 lined up from all over the USA, I'm sure the bankers would have a good laugh while they had security escort me back out to the front door.
