That's singularly insulting. If you knew me a little, you would know I am utterly sincere when I propose we look into ways to end xenophobia (a reasonable proposition, considering the liberty with which local xenophobes speak, and the truly horrible things they say). Why aren't you jumping down their throats instead, and focus your energy where it's needed?

I'm sadly disappointed, Al. But life's made of that.

NEXT!

As for my supposed racially abusive comments identified by Zensee; I think my reference to "you sensitive souls" is apposite.

One does not have to be particularly sensitive to find sneering references to grub eaters offensive. One does need to be particularly obtuse, oblivious or specious to claim that their clearly articulated words did not say what they obviously say.

Be a mensch, Seeks. Own your words or keep them to yourself.

I said you never made that statement in the OP, and then claimed you had, which is borne out by the facts.

And if you are so concerned about xenophobia, why do you continue to play games to derail those who are trying to condemn it?  Are you nominating yourself as the only one superior enough to speak for all victims of xenophobia everywhere?

Once again, you've lost me. We're on different waves and it's obvious neither of us is hearing the other. Good luck.

If you don't want to hear other people, then you won't, plain and simple.

I've been pointing out that 'race' needs to be addressed for many reasons, scientific, medical, as well as social.
Shutting the door on race as a genetic concept doesn't shut the door on the fact that people in real life hate and attack members of other races.

One of the most intolerant posters on this board, in addition to railing about how TGs shouldn't be here, and how immigrants should be rounded up, regularly tries to shut down discussion of xenophobia/racism/bigotry by repeating the rigid definition of 'race' from only one source, and then insisting that there can be no other. This is a transparent ploy on their part to imply that Jews, and other groups haven't been the victims of racism.

Why anyone would want to join that person in using the same tactic to stifle discourse about race is beyond me, but I can't imagine a good reason for it.

Or,  please enighten me as to why you have such a problem with me talking openly about useful definitions of race and applying them to combat racism.

Just a thought to no one in particular I have just realised that the difference in classification methods employed by evolutionists and geneticists opens up the possiblity of life form A being the same race as life form B but a different species. !

See "my silly question" on page 24 post 478.
Now there's a can of worms fit for an Abo's breakfast !

Then we've agreed all along, as I suspected. Whatever is the problem? Perhaps we should take this in private, because I certainly don't want to add to the circus show ambiance right now :-)

Thompson, i really think there is a difference between a government getting into a war, with the obvious loss of life to follow, and a government setting out to murder thousands of its people by creating something such as 9/11

I made the point in the last re-hashing of 9/11 that I honestly believe the US Government was involved.

I think Dick Cheney FedExed a box of box cutters to Osama Bin laden.

There is one human race but 'race' as it's commonly accepted here with its colourful definition (pink, brown, peach, and green) simply doesn't exist. It's very possible that I, a seemingly white Jewish chick from Europe, could have more in common with Nelson Mandela, a Zulu from South Africa, than with my cousin Billy Goldenberg from Australia.

I attach  a handy-clickable for information. Fuck, I'm mad.

http://proteinwisdom.com/?p=8149

Then, if there are no races, there is no racial inequality...no discrimination because of race...no racially inspired incidents...no hate crimes. It must mean we just don't like other human beings for who and what they are, as individuals, not because of their race...which doesn't exist.

So THAT'S the "6000-year-old tribe" you've been talking about.

Well, the idea that their culture hasn't changed in 6000 years (which is what you were arguing in some other thread) is absurd.

One of the classic historical insults between cultures is to refer to food eaten by Culture A that Culture B considers taboo or repugnant.  Eg, the French become "Frogs" and the Germans "Krauts".  What's interesting is that there's evidence that this practice dates a very long way back indeed; fragments of early writing from various civilizations include some bemoaning of exactly this nature.  Food taboos are deeply ingrained in most cultures and tied inextricably to uncontrolled emotional response.

Grubs of all the known food species I've sampled are absolutely delicious as well as nutritious, and if you can't get past your irrational cultural taboos to eat them, you're missing out on something good.  Also you're a slave to your socially conditioned irrational taboos.  How many other irrational bits of programming may be rattling around in your head, even if you think you are an enlightened modern?  That's a good question to ask yourself.

Since they were pre stone age when the ancient Egyptians first wrote about them 6000 years ago and Colin Turnbull, who studied them in the late twentieth century says that they are still pre stone age what do you find absurd?

Alumbrado:
I do not believe we (you me and kittenSol ...just to name a few) disagree.  You have stated the problem quite succinctly when you point out that some people define "race" in such a way as to allow them to be pc bigots and avoid being called a racist by a semantic convolution of definitions.  I doubt that any of the three of us would disagree that there is discrimination based on what is commonly referred to as race.  What has been happening for the past twenty some odd pages is trying to address that problem with out being hampered by some peoples convoluted definition of race.  You correctly pointed out in one of your earlier post on this thread the term race has an enormous variation in definitions.

Maybe a better word than racism would be elitism. Before anyone says dont compare the two, please hear me out.

People of one colour discriminate against people of another. People of the same colour discriminate against people of a different nationality. People of the same nationality discriminate aginst people from other districts. Rich people of the same district discriminate against the poor. The poor people discriminate against people who are in someway different to themselves. Men, in many countries, discriminate against women.

None of the above is right and sadly it still goes on.

Apologies to any discriminated persons i have missed out

Has any expert got an answer to the question posed on Page 24 post 478.
Is it being ignored because its a stupid question, because the experts cant answer it or because the experts haven't logged on and seen  it ?

Zensee: and others, just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder so may the perception of sneering derogatory comments be there also.

Any attempt to make discrimination more illegal that it already is will result in a race of robots having no choice at all.
Is that a racist statement ?
