Posting this without having read the preceding pages, so apologies if it's redundant... It seems to me that the process of becoming a confident (any D/s,M/s role) builds upon an understanding of one's self. The more thorough, the more introspective, the stronger the foundation. The BDSM community is still a subset of the larger general populace...one that, by and large, does not place very much 'practical' value in really understanding yourself psychologically that well. Older individuals just get enough time to realize these personal discoveries. It seems to me the same sort of question as asking why you'll find fewer 30 year old virgins than 20 year old. And, though it suddenly occurs to me that this build up appears self-fluffing, it honestly wasn't meant to be... That being said...I'm 32.
