My dad and I were talking about business policies, and if you didn't like the business would you still shop there, and talk turned  about clothing, and how there's only like  two places I know that I can buy clothing that fit, and if something about them pissed me off, I would continue to go, since where else would I buy clothing?

Well my dad said there's plenty of very fat people running around out there in clothing they must shop somewhere.

Which leads me to the question I stated. If you're very very large, larger than most shops carry, where do you find your clothing. I would assume special order catalogs?

lane bryant, catherine's, sewing their own, searching the internet for catalog stores that specialize in sizes for the very large.  haven't seen a listing for omar the tent maker, lol, but i'm sure there are people out there doing extremely large size clothing.  that world's fattest man gets his clothing someplace!  i'm not a small girl, but i'm still able to find clothes in your average store.

above a size 30. 500 600 700 800 pounds.  LaneBryants is a bit of a cock tease so to speak, they do carry some plus size stuff but they stop at size 26. Catherines stops at size 30, in tops and in pants, and then there is of course IReenes fashions at large, and her store goes up to a size 60. However if you don't have an Ireenes store in your town, ya won't be ordering from there lol.

Cato's. Fashion Bug Plus. Ross Dress for Less. To name a few. All of these stores carry sizes up to 28-30. Not sure what you mean by "large" but there ya go.
Would I stop shopping at a store that I felt I was being rude to? Or I felt had shady business ethics? You bet I would. I would learn how to sew my own if I had to, but I will not shop at any store that I feel I am being treated badly or discriminated against. I have stopped going to stores/events/restaurants etc. based on the fact that I have been rude to because of my blindness. I will not tolerate being treated badly for any reason, by anyone, any more.

If you have money Ulla Popken has some stuff. Their sizes run large but they are pricey. Also Silhouettes has a lot of larger clothing.
The Catherines by me goes up to 34 or 5x.

Not me.  Even shirts in the mens department which were supposed to be 4xl in  Walmart barely fit. Shame too, since the shirts were cool. Even before I weighed 300 pounds my naturally large chest ruled me out of most shirts too, except large ish ones lol being a 48 DDD will do that. I pity the hard time women who're like tripple G or H or tripple those larger sizes have lol.

Yes..and FBP doesn't have the cute selection as the others I mentioned.

One of the great mysteries in life...other than the abduction of a single sock taken from your dryer after putting both in..

is this..

Why is it that designers feel that large women WANT or NEED to wear huge polka dots or stripes? If I wanted to look like a clown, I would go and kill one and steal his clothes! And don't get me started on the wild ass colors that designers use for us larger women!

yeah I know or leperd print, or zebra print, if I wanted to look like a large fat zebra I would skin a zebra and wear it.

Now some  animal prints are cute, Hell I had panties with lepard spots and a zebra pair a couple years ago,  but I have noticed this tend in old lady clothing, in the 50 plus department of some places, just very ugly very gaudy stuff.

Just my opinion.. but.. I've been to 37 states and Mexico, and I'm 5ft10, 285lbs, with a 44DD chest. Perhaps not quite comparable in size, however... I've been a few places and trust me, I shop! I hate shopping, mostly because you can *never* find the same cute styles you find in the small clothes... in the real women's sizes. Still, I look.

Catherine's (you seem closeish to my age?)... my 73 year old grandmother shops there. While I don't know much about their sizing... their selections suck. If I wanted to wear her curtains - she DOES sew. Lane Bryant is overly expensive, and it really depends on the area in which you go to as what their selection is - I.E. there's two Lane Bryants in Savannah, GA - the one at the Oglethorpe Mall is all really ghetto flashy crap, where the one at the Savannah Mall is tasteful and sometimes cute. Fashion Bug is having business issues, and they're shutting down some of their stores - but if you have one close... go buy out the store, because they're awesome and I've STILL got a pair of jeans I bought there when I was 11, and they're in good working condition. :-) That's value.

Cato's... hit or miss, and they're not on the west coast. They have some decent styles and prices, if you head down to GA. The Avenue is a west coast store... but be careful, There's "Avenue" and "The Avenue" - one's plus size strictly, the other isn't... and I never remember which is which. :-)

IF you have the money to do it, and the inclination... still not finding anything you like at these stores, I highly recommend trying the local crafter's fairs they have, susually at the expo centers and whatnot. A *lot* of the vendors (at least at the ones I've been to?) sell their own clothing, and if you can find one that's willing to work with you... that's a friendship made in fat girl fashion heaven. :-)

OH... and "Avenue" I believe... is the only place I've found that sells cute fat girl knee high black leather boots with at least a 3 inch heel. Just incase you were looking. :-)

I saw this really cute skirt, almost school girl plaid style but full length in Catherines, and then I saw the same one at Layne Bryants, well guess what? IT was like 70 dollars when the skirt at Catherine's was only 55, and there was a buy one get one free sale going on at Catherine's, when I finally did go and buy the skirt almost 3 weeks later, and so not only did I get the same skirt for way less I got another awsom skirt for the price of one too.

I like Catherine's, they got some awesome panties, and they're bikini cut and they come in a size 15.  but it's hit or miss, and some stores are better than others, like if you go to the one down by Arden Fair mall in Sacramento, you won't find near as much great choices at the Cathrine's in roseville. I find a lot of young cute T shirts, the kind you'd expect to see sold at the kids section in walmart, tinkerbell, winnie pooh, Eyore,  very very cute prints, and I like it a lot.

One time at Fashion bug I found a size 10 pair of panties, that tied on and off at the sides and were silky with really cute silver butterflies on it or something. I bought them even though they didn't really fit thinking I'd loose some weight an be able to fit them and it just never happend lol.

Ah, that's cool.... well of course there definitely is a difference in selection based on where the store is. I've been to the Catherine's in Lakewood, WA (Tacoma area)... mm, yeah, my grandmother would love it. And I've been to the Catherine's in Fresno, CA... with my grandmother. I saw a lavender colored business suit... I made a quick exit.

Bikini undies in a size 15? That is impressive. I think I've gotten the few pairs of undies I actually do wear at Fashion Bug in Lacey, WA.... I wear a size 10, and they're string bikinis with cute metal accents on the strings.

One thing I do have to say about plus size clothing though... I'm personally really into Ren Faires and the like (yes, I know, I'm a nerd.. :-)) - and if you go into any of the shops there, typically you'll find "one size fits most." - And they actually fit ME! (Bet your boots I got the crafter's card... they're based down in SD, I think?) Score... one absolutely fabulous black lace and dark green velvet off the shoulder dress.

If you google "super size BBW" and the word "clothes" you'll come up with tons of hits.  Here is one resource:  http://www.ssbbw-magazine.com/ssbbw-resources.php

They list resources for bras up to 70JJ, bridal clothing up to 50W, streetwear up to 10X, etc.

Im in adoration of the stuff at One Stop Plus, I dont know the quality, as its online and they dont deliver to canada which really naffin sucks cos I could spend an absolute  fortune there, the prices arent so bad, compared to other places. They have many  "brands" and differnt size charts, but heres the link to the main page for sizes http://www.onestopplus.com/Help/Help_SizeCharts.aspx
They also do some nice lingerie, shoes, accessories and mens big n tall.
Takes ages to go thru everything, but you can refine your search to size, price and brands...
Lucy
