it may be my thread but i get no say in what goes on in it. look at lucy's fucking usps/canadian postal strike thread for fuck's sake. its about 4 different unrelated things. all originally having some sort of fucking vague connection to do with canada, but fuck all to do with the usps or the fucking strike..

It's just how we Canadians effin roll  ROFLMAO

It's not needed anyway because, as Red mentioned, if somebody is going over the line, you'll have notes in your own mail from other forum users who are seeing the same thing that you do.

Do people really do that, that often? I am not surprised, but since I don't get that sort of email, I would be surprised that it happens with any frequency. And I think I've only written someone about forums a time or two. Once to you, I believe.

Of course there is always the off chance that I am the one they are pissing and whining about!

often we only know there is a problem if someone hits the report button.

I am sure that if someone hits the report button an alarm goes off in your house, e. g. like a fire alarm...right?

Gosh, I can see you jumping out of bed at night, cause someone pressed that button due to the alarm going off

i've only had that happen once, after a certain imbecile "pretty boy" made a snarky remark about my dead M. DarkSteven wrote me a nice message, but other wise, no, people don't seem to be seeing the same things half the time, so i don't think they're writing each other about it all that often either.

I've had it happen a few times.  Not lots, but enough to know it happens.  I'm always suspicious of the people who claim that "lots" of people agree with them in email.  When I see that, I know it for the BS it is.  More often, someone will comment on something I've said and we'll start a discussion in private messages that moves away from the original thread topic.

Not going to quote everyone here.

LaT, yep, you did.  Same time frame, different matter on the one that I received the most about.  That one didn't garner "lots" but I can assure you that you weren't alone.

"A lot" is a relative term, Syl.  I think we all get the random comment on a post here or there.  When seven or eight people contact you about the interaction, rather than the content of the subject, that's pretty high in comparison.

Even though it has happened and probably will happen again, it's usually not over a single comment.  We're talking the big type of train wrecks here.  I don't mention it on the thread that's generated the personal communications.  I figure it's like anything else.  If you know that you've done it, you should probably realize that other people have done it, too.  In most cases, you just don't know what other people had a reaction to like the one you did on the instance that you wrote someone to mention.

oh there was one other time when i think of it, because of one of the most recent "trainwreck threads." maybe people who are more "dialed in" or have been here longer have more of a sense of camaraderie that they express that way. i dunno. but i still don't believe it really happens all that much.

Yes, I'd consider that to be "lots" of comments for just one incident/thread.  To be more clear, I think back channel posts of this nature are the exception rather than the norm.  That's what I mean when I say it doesn't happen a lot but it does happen.  I get suspicious when people insinuate the majority of readers agree with them and are just reluctant to post said agreement for fear of invoking the wrath of "Teh Powah Clique".  That's when I start calling BS.

I remember that horrible post. Way over the line.

I don't send or receive emails about bickering or attacking posts at all. I've reported a post or two in my day, but my email is clear of the nonsense.

about the moderators and being anonymous...
if they are... then how do any of the users know who they are?
and how does anybody know that there are more than one for sure...
and how does anybody know the site is owned by more than one person...
and who are they?
and how does anybody know the site owner is not the moderator too...
and it seems he might be operating under an inconspicuous user name too
or maybe many

maybe i am totally scitzophrenic... maybe i am the only person here

Edit to add (no the answer is not really important at all, that is my whole point)

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds theological almost?

Well it does actually bring up a few excellent points that I sort of discussed early on.

The whole.....well I know who Mod XYZ is. I am going to make it obvious, and be all smoochy suck assy flirty and Mod XYZ flirts back showing that they indeed are not anonymous to everyone...... it's kinda off.
