In modern English, Slut has much more to do with promiscuity/morals than "being slovenly". Now the question is... are people entitled to challenge the idea that promiscuity is intrinsically immoral. Hell yes they do. They do, absolutely. As I said, I am in no way a proponent of moral controls on sexuality insofar as it occurs between 2 consenting adults. They do not, on the other hand, get to ruin the language for that purpose.
