My name seems to be showing up on various "Favorites" / "Friends" lists from time-to-time... usually without my being asked first. And 99.9% of the time, they are people I've never even spoken to. I find this incredibly presumptuous and RUDE!!

"Friends" are self-explanatory, but what is the purpose behind "Favorites?"
(Smiles) Thanks for taking the time to broaden my horizons about this feature.

"Add to Favorites" requires no action on your part. People are just bookmarking you.

"Invite to Friends" means you have to accept the invitation.

Presumptuous and rude?

Seriously?!?!? That is your problem, not that of your admirers. Quit taking yourself so seriously.

i use the favorites simply as a reminder of profiles i found interesting or people i would like to revisit.  I would rather it not be called admirers or set something up where people can bookmark you to remember you.  With the vast number of profiles on this site, its nice to have a way to remind yourself of people's profiles you may want to remember.

I have had a couple people respond when i add them to admirers and conversation is started and only 1 asking me to remove him as his gf got upset lol.

I don't do the friends thing either way -- i don't accept and i don't add -- not sure what it really is there for, unless people can click on their friends to email them easier.

I personally would rather not have the whose viewing me, if i wanna stalk someone and just sigh over their picture lol it's kind of embarrassing that i would keep showing up on the whose viewing them.

All in all, none of it is too personally taken by me.  someone adds me to their favorites -- okay, until they contact me it doesn't phase me much.  I don't see it as rude either as the favorites listing to me isn't for me, its for them and for all i know they may do the same thing i do and just use it as a bookmark for profiles they may like to revisit.

I agree with LaTigresse, you are seriously taking yourself too seriously -- you are a nickname on a internet site.  It's really not that deep.

I have not ever requested to be someones friend and i dont put anyone in my favs list.. but then i am here mostly for the forums presently so perhaps its different for me... There are posters that i find interesting cuz of the viewpoints they have presented in the forums but i know who they are so dont need to bookmark them..

Jmo, when a guy shows up in the admirers page, he is doing it to get me to read his profile so he can start a conversation with me.. imo, its a way to get attention.. one i dont fall for, btw...

Why presumptious and rude? I don't have any opinion regarding this, why people would want to list me as a favourite is their own affair and something between them and Collarme.

And to be honest, I'm not that fussed what other people think of my profile or me either. I'm not here for the purposes of popularity or entertainment.

However when it comes to 'friends' I don't take kindly to people sending me friends requests out of the blue unless there's been some dialogue first. I'm not an item on e-Bay.

But then again I operate on a 'that's for me to know and you to work out' basis when it comes to friends.

What they said.
How is it "rude" that someone bookmarks you as a fave profile? And you can't randomly show up on friend lists, you have to accept or decline.
Chill.

I know some people use the friends thing as a sort of vouch for thing though shoudn't be really. I use it so I can get to the profiles I like quickly. To be honest not much different to social networking sites sometimes people you do not know add you, all you need do is ignore it.

(LMAO) How comical it is to "see" how differently one comment can be interpreted on here!
I merely asked for a definition, and all of a sudden I am deemed too deep (I never knew), fussed over what people think of my profile and me (sorry, but no), and here for the purposes of popularity and entertainment (that's news to me! LOL).

I have a logical mind. I don't care for presumptuousness. And I have a right to my own feelings.

Perhaps the "chill pills" should have gone to some of you?

Sorry to disagree but if that were true then your post would have read something like

'I do not understand the purpose of friends on here' instead you made it emotionally charged by your language, ie
quote:

I find this incredibly presumptuous and RUDE!!

Without that bit you would have got far less emotionally charged responses.

Yet your words are not logical.

There was nothing emotional in my response. The fuss appears to be all yours.

Oh wow. You started a thread inviting opinions. You got some.

If you wish to misinterpret what I wrote then please, feel free. However having reread my previous post I'm pretty sure it can be taken to be IMHO and not pertaining to anyone else.

However if you wish to redefine my opinion as something else, then please also feel free. It's your thread after all.

That saying, I do hope your day improves.

OP you are the one who used the phrase, it's presumptuous and rude.

To me, that is implying to me that to you its that deep because you are offended by what people are doing.  To put the effort into thinking profiles are presumptuous and rude- i.e., be offended,  because they add me to their favorites/admired list, seems to be a little too much effort for me lol.

But hey, you are entitled to your feelings, but then again, i am entitled to believe that what you are ranting about isn't that deep.  It's a message board, you proclaimed your feelings, by right, i think the situation isn't that deep to warrant the feelings you claim to have.    See how that works?

Again, it's really not that deep.

Darn! I forget there's a rating scale in these forums as to how answers are given! (LMAO)

LaTigresse? I'm afraid I'm all of out fresh meat.
And I have NO IOTA of a desire to argue with you nor anyone nor to be bashed over a question I pose on a forum!

Thanks to those who merely answered my question. (Smiles)

When someone adds me to their favorites I just laugh because my profile is completely empty and it's nothing but a blurry pic of my eye lol. Why they want to bookmark is beyond me. It's just funny.

I've never added anyone to favorites because there's no one <well except Master> who I want to look at their profile again and again.

As for friending, I never allow anyone to be friended since I don't know anyone on here. I'm not here to play a popularity game. I don't do it on FB, why would I on here? And I've never requested to be friends with anyone else. I don't know anyone in person to want to bother.

Me too, it's easier to just click the picture for cmails. I use the "admire" feature for the ones I talk to the most. And one deceased friend, who I leave there in memory.

People add me to their faves all the time, sometimes I know them, but mostly not. Whatever, maybe they like looking at pictures of baby capybaras!

I use the fav list to track someones posts if I like what they write, or at least how they write. No stalking involved really.
