Warmest thanks to you all! I appreciate everyone's kindness, both here and via cmail, and I apologize for being slow to respond. All I can say is it's been a wild ride. After all sorts and conditions of scans, biopsies, poking, and prodding, I appear to be the proud owner of not one but two cancers. The primary malignancy is a hefty tumor in my rectum, a few centimeters away from the exit. I call this MiMA, a trying-too-hard-to-be-hip acronym (based on MoMA) for "the mass in my ass." Getting MiMA out of my tailpipe without permanent loss of bowel control promises to be a major challenge. Head north a bit to my mid-abdomen, and you'll come to a spot of lymphoma. This malignancy, which I have not yet named, appears to have developed independently of dear old MiMA. The silver lining in this new discovery is that, as lymphomas go, this one isn't so bad--slow-growing and not terribly aggressive. Sometime next week, I'll go for a bone marrow biopsy to learn if the lymphoma has spread. So please keep those prayers and good wishes coming! And again, many thanks.
