ORIGINAL: LadyConstanze I recently campaigned for a separate big freezer unit in the garage for the pets, as I figured feeding them dry food or canned food is the equivalent of feeding children McD or some other type of fast food on a daily basis. One of our cats and the boy dog had severe allergy issues and we went from specialist to specialist, nothing helped, changing their food to just meat, some rice and a bit of veg (for the dogs) and just meat for the cats, the allergies have disappeared and their coats are super shiny. I don't like meat, but hubby isn't quite ready to be fully vegetarian, so I usually bulk up his meat dishes with those tiny yellow and orange lentils, adds a lot of taste and he lost about 10 kilos without fasting or calorie counting and feels so much better. Whenever I hear people complain that they don't have time, that's why they buy tinned, I wonder, because leaving dried beans to soak overnight isn't really that much work, boiling up rice, well it boils itself, in the meantime I can vacuum or fill the washing machine up, fold washing, etc. Like you, I make big batches of things and freeze them in, a lot of it can be used for different dishes, instead of using some artificial thickener for sauce or flour, mashed potato or those Indian lentils that dissolve. It really isn't rocket science, I rather abuse my body by treating myself to a nice glass of wine on the weekend, than chemicals throughout the week. I'd like to get a kitty one day and if I do, I want to make my own food for it. The stuff they sell in stores is awful for cats. I have two rabbits right now so that isn't really much of an issue. They do get pellets...but I get top quality stuff and my baby will be being reduce to 1/4 cup a day soon. (she's almost 6 months old...first 6 months they need unlimited pellets.) but my old man already gets 1/4 cup a day and he never finishes them lol they mostly eat hay and fresh greens.
