OK, send me the picture, doesn't sound like anything, lol, well I assume it was via the blog that you got on that, I can assure you that Constanze Borgia is not my real name, historically I have always fascinated with the Borgia family, and according to our family history (on mom's side) there was some bad blood between them and some ancestors far back, I guess my family must have been better at poisoning or taking antidotes, given the fact that I'm around. And I don't think that this will narrow it down a lot, since in that particular period of time most families in Italy were feuding with each other, alliances were made and broken....

I'm actually a lot less worried about a strange stalker, as most of them are people you do know, in my case a moment of being careless and replying with the wrong email... You know yourself how easy it is to find out a lot with an email.

The good thing about it, I learned who my real friends are, I had a career change that actually really worked for me and I got another beautiful dog, because when animal protection (or the RSPCA) came to check us out (you know for the reported "abuse") I gave them the folder with all the vet bills, our vet's phone number and they contacted me and asked if we might consider adopting another dobie, neutered 18 months old, who is difficult to place and was in over 5 homes already and needs a home to settle down. I guess the fact that I spent roughly £500 on a hernia surgery for a rat convinced them.
Possibly should have stopped with 2 dogs, though they really helped me through it.

Oddly enough around the "other guy" people tended to disappear over time, one guy got massive trouble with the wife, people he used to be super friendly with, one by one they disappeared, just dropped away, I do wonder how many had bad experiences or strange things happening in their lives...

OP,

First, I want you to know that I appreciate the emails you sent. Everybody can be taught. Just, sometimes, certain people need clubbed over the head before they listen.

Man, I could have used a guy like you back in the day. Somebody with your computer knowledge? Damn!

I want you to do something for me from here on out. Just listen. That's all I want you to do. As the saying goes, you were given one mouth and two ears for a reason. Sometimes, sitting down and shutting up is the best way to go.

Listen. Hear what people tell you.

The photo has been sent. Looking at it for a second time, I just noticed the black horns sticking out of your head in it, so, perhaps it's a Halloween picture (or, do you normally have four-inch appendages growing out of your forehead?).

Good. Whew. Yes, that was the name (I wasn't going to say it in public).

Hmmmmmm... Borgia family. Borja. Hmmmmm... (googling away) ... ah, I see. Two Roman Catholic popes, one of whom fathered a few children, I see, clearly from his Mistress, the females of whom seemed to be deeply intertwined in political intrigue of Renaissance Italian political life.

Family motto: Either a Caesar, or nothing!
Interesting what history lies awaiting our perusal.

Yes, I can gladly confirm it's not me, though rather flattering, they look like they're 18, maybe early 20's and that weird beard on him, ewww not my thing...

History is a bit of a hobby, and the Borgias made history, additionally a few years ago there was the excellent TV series, I think on Showtime and the actor playing Cesare (Francois Arnauld) was right down my alley, to the point of hubby going "Don't deny you have a type, what are you doing with me?"

I always thought Lucrezia got a bit of a bad rap and the incest rumours were sparked by people trying to damage the reputation, there doesn't seem to be any factual evidence, trying to survive in a time where women were political pawns or chattel, she did well. Amazing to think how different Italy might have looked if Alexander would have lived a little bit longer, Cesare was without a doubt cruel, without scruples, ridden with syphilis (possibly would have gone insane anyway) but what a strategic talent...
Historians always tell us to not judge historic figures by our standards but by their time, so during a time when everybody poisoned everybody else, your way to survive was to know more about poison...

Bit of a Borgia fan myself.
Ceasare Borgia, is The Prince, from Machiavelli's book. Which i read in high school.
While i know the history, the tv show didnt quite stck to it.
But gawd it was fun.

There is/was another version of the borgias on netflix. I enjoyed the hell out of that too.

They didn't stray too far though, they could have made a real pig's ear out of it but for the most part they actually kept close to historical dates but spiced things up a bit for the screen.

You know on occasion I like rereading The Prince. That time in history was quite something, I think lately the historians take a slightly more balanced view on what went on, basically it was corruption all over and starting false rumours to discredit and wrestle power from enemies was seen as "normal politics", if you could get away with it, you poisoned them, but most of them had tasters... A bit like old Rome...

oh most definitely,
Oh it was a hotbed for sure, all the kingdoms, the art, the families who basically ruled the papacy for a more than a few hundred years.
The alliances, the various intrigue, the medicis, florence, france, spain italy the plots. THe persecution of religion. Bonfire of the Vanities etc.
I love the history of the renaissance, and have done a LOT of personal reading and study. Lucrezia fascinated me from teenhood, that chick could have been so much more powerful had she been a man, but then again, she was the daughter of the pope. an exalted position even tho she was sold off like a brood mare. Mind you it was the way it was done...not for love but money power and greed.

Have to admit, I have a girl boner over both the Cesare's in the tv shows.
Francois Arnaud

and Mark Ryder(lovely irishman)

In fact im feeling the need to do some binge watching :)

It looks like Collarspace is doing something similar to what alt.com did, based on this page which keeps popping up in my field of view on my browser whenever I log into Collarspace lately:

To find out more about how a "yes" answer will use our profiles, I opened a separate thread on that topic alone:
