I think with so few of us posting, it's natural to carry the conversation from one thread to another. And Bosco's gonna do whatever he wants anyway, so you can either go with it or go fucking crazy trying to talk sense into him. Don't worry, the nurse will be in to wipe the drool from his chin when she gets done with her break.
Notice how Bosco praises Elon Musk, but demonizes anyone else working against climate change. See, it doesn't matter to him that it exists or not, only if it can be used to advance capitalism, and somebody can make a buck off it. There are ways to do that, but the government has to guide it. This is the primary reason climate change is being dismissed by so many around the world, fixing the problem may come at a cost. But. As we've seen with Elon and his Tesla company, there is an abundance of opportunity as well.
The most important thing is making climate-friendly solutions available to the masses, and then figure out a reasonable timeframe to make that new technology mandatory, and do away with the old, more dangerous products. It's been done before, we can do it again. But I think Dems make a mistake in compiling so much together in a single bill, it can make it impossible to even read, much less approve of. In 1989, the EPA began requiring summer gas. This reduced ground level ozone, thus reducing smog in big cities. This was even before the Clean Air Act was signed into law a year later. And we didn't exactly have liberals running the White House then.
More recently, we made the switch from freon to R410A. Freon was phased out gradually, until production in and import to the US became a thing of the past. The last a/c units that required freon were built in 2009. But the freon phase out began in the early 90's. We need to look at the economic impact of that change, and mirror it as much as possible with new laws & regulations. The goal should be saving the environment, but nobody cares about the environment if saving it means destroying them.
