OK...I challenge you to a debate:

You call the thread ridiculous. The thread is about Biden's policy of
1. Building chip and battery manufacturing capacity in the United States,
2. Giving tax rebates for EV cars BUILT in the US.
3. Hampering China's ability to manufacture advanced electronics
4. Being the first President to affirmatively tell China that we would militarily protect Taiwan.

Status: offline 		Kinda hard to cover up that sort of thing, considering the number of telescopes Americans have. Plus this whole internet thing.

It is kinda comforting to actually see the possible enemy's "surveillance systems" though. They have a balloon, we have the U-2. Nah, we don't just ask Bono, this U-2 is a US Army spy plane we've used since the 50s. The Air Force has the SR-71 Blackbird.

Of course, Biden is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with Republicans, because it is always easier to be an armchair quarterback than actually the one responsible for the decisions being made.

Well. This is where critical thinking comes into play.

1.. The DOD already determined the balloon was no threat to US Citizens
2. All US intelligence agencies ensured that the balloon was incapable of gathering any electronic intelligence.
3. US intelligence agencies identified it capability and determined that anything it could capture photographically, would be a lower quality than is available from public satellites.
4. Safety of Montana residents was considered in the timing of when to shoot down this harmless balloon

Knowing #1-#4 above...

I understand the desire to keep it quiet until we could shot it down.
