I don't have it (although I do get cold sores occasionally) and don't know how I'd feel if someone I really cared about did. But if I were serious about someone, I don't think it would be a deal breaker. I'm really focused on trying to figure out what is essential and what isn't, and if I got to know someone and really cared about him (and he did the honorable thing and told me before we had sex), I think I'd deal with the chance. But I think I'd be less likely to get to know him if that was the first thing he told me. And that is true for most things--if he said "Size 12 shoes"--well, that isn't enough for me to want to get to know him. Dan Savage seems to be on a crusade to try and get people to realize that it isn't a big deal. He was talking about it on a podcast. He said something like 95% of Americans test positive for type 1 or 2 by their 70s, or something.
