I mean ... that sounds a bit bizzare ..... and IF there were other signs of all out nut case situations... then ummmm get the hell out !!!!!!! Sorry a ring on her finger isnt going to change the fact she sounds like a total NUT JOB!!!! Cant polish a turd....

I think its kind of odd that you have to ask a message board whether or not your in a safe situation.  I'd think your self preservation instincts would have kicked in by now and you would not just be leaving but running for your life.

Turning on the suspension of disbelief and treating this as if it were for real, the first thing I have to wonder is how can you get to the point of being ready to take someone for your life partner in marriage and also be her Dom which supposedly would involve deeply delving her psysche and be oblivious to her being so emotionally unstable and violent.

"How can you justify anyone doing that" can only be a rhetorical question to elicit a bunch of how awful and of course not comments.

The dom should think he had a lucky escape. that type of violent behaviour has issues attached.

While unusual, it is not unheard of for a person's explosive rage to seemingly "come out of nowhere".  It could be the submissive has Intermittent Explosive Disorder, for example.

What person or persons, submissive or dominant, can justify this kind of violence?

let's see, folks who justify beating another person unconscious?

*amateur or professional boxers and their promoters
*law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties
*during an assault, the victim of the assault who is in fear of losing their life
*folks engaged in unhealthy relationships

being in control of one's "seething rage" is not orientation specific.
justifications for violence are case specific.

Interesting reading Celtic.  Thanks, you showed me something I hadn't known about.

Intermittant Explosive Disorder is very rare and its nature a matter of debate among psychiatrists.  Nothing I read made me inclined to retract my original comments.  To take a quote from the page you linked:
"The reader should note that DSM-IV's classification of IED is not universally accepted. Many psychiatrists do not place intermittent explosive disorder into a separate clinical category but consider it a symptom of other psychiatric and mental disorders. In many cases individuals diagnosed with IED do in fact have a dual psychiatric diagnosis. IED is frequently associated with mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse and eating disorders, and narcissistic, paranoid, and antisocial personality disorders."

There would have bound to have been a few clues.

My pleasure.  I caution one and all against making armchair diagnoses, but it is always good to remember that many "issues" are, under the surface, rather complex and not entirely within the control of the affected person--and not ever likely to just "disappear" on their own.

Getting beaten into unconsciousness is a hard way to learn the importance of not dismissing out of hand people's real issues.

I have also heard of intense rages occuring during PMS  for some women as a result of extreme hormonal changes

but the  cause really does not matter ...it has to be dealt with professionally and even with treatment brain chemistry/hormonal levels fluctuate    extremes in moods might be corrected but will still exist and if not monitored carefully  and if not stayed ontop lifelong a future severe rage can occur again       ..the actions have more than likely destroyed the dynamics of the relationship..the Dom has now seen the worst side of and will have a hard time being able to top as they will worrying about setting off another incident so trust level is gone  and will also have a severe impact on the ability to have open communications and will feel like he is walking on eggshells if he tries to .. so any future  D/s dynamic  is down the tubes should he decide to continue the relationship

If we assume a hormonal or psychiatric disorder is behind the rage (and that the slave is not just a flat out t-total bitch), then it is not at all certain that the D/s dynamic is destroyed. In fact, the D/s dynamic itself is more likely to survive than the other aspects of the relationship.

All slaves, all masters, all people have difficutly controlling their negative emotions at some point. Some people have much greater difficulty than others. Such difficulty does not preclude D/s dynamics within a relationship. A man worth his salt is not so fragile as to blanche at the mere sight of a slave's distemper.

It does raise certain challenges for the D-type in the relationship, and if the relationship were to continue a lot of focused effort on the part of the dominant would be necessary.

I would not expect any sort of relationship to continue after such an episode. To my mind that seems highly unlikely. I would not rule the possibilty out either. If the relationship endures, I suspect it will endure with a master slave dynamic.

This would be a new definition of "submissive" that I am currently unfamiliar with.

Run Rabbit run !! Everyone has hit on the being beat unconcious part- there's no excuse for physical violence, except in already mentioned scenarios. The little biotch wasn't worried about beating you senseless, but she was worried about her X's feelings. Something very rotten in Denmark!!
