Remind me to add "being beaten into unconsciousness" to my list of hard limits.

Also, is it just me, or does beating a dom into unconsciousness seem like very un-sublike behavior?

OH OH OH
I second all of that

LMAO

OP: Have either one (or both) of you ever been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder or psychosis?

(I've asked this several times now. I'd be very interested in an honest answer to this.)

uhmm...wow...WTF????  When did we have to start worrying about the Dom's safety??????  i did not get the memo about Dom abuse....did not even know it existed!  Who knew???  Evidently not me!!!!!

On a serious note here, you were not a victim here, you were a volunteer.  You should have gotten out longggg ago.  When she wanted to get married on her exes birthday, the marriage was about hurting him and not being with you.  You were just the tool to use to hurt the ex.  Quit trying to "save" women.

I think both need some help, and to gain some maturity. This is deeper than just a psychosis, this is a failure to thrive in the mind.

There is a difference between love and infatuation, and I think it quite clearly defined here. But at 47 years old those infatuation days should be over. Doing violence to people should end in the teen years, and even hitting doors and walls should be gone by 30.

But it is the same self control not to do violence as it is to give up on something you think you love. I think both suffer from arrested emotional development. They could be rocket scientists, but that is a totally seperate issue. Both of them are immature enough so that one still has temper tantrums and the other does not see enough flaw in that to consider it a hard limit in life, a deal breaker.

Act as an adult and act on your thoughts, not feelings and you will do alot better. In this case four grand better. That is ridiculous. Absolutely insane behavior unless you are made of money, and even then. If you are made of money you did not get there flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet.

Being a Man is being able to say no. That is all there is to it. Being an adult at all is to be able to not have temper tantrums, especially violent ones. There are no other facts that matter. Neither one is, nor likely ever has been ready for a marriage.

Sorry to speak facts so plainly, you if you want bullshit you'll have to find someone else.

Just thought I would add -- if you (the OP) haven't been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, I would suggest you visit a therapist and ask that they help you evaluate you for the possibility.  I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of sixteen and a few things you've said strongly remind me of myself.

quote:

... Years ago, having studied journalism before switching the focus of my poetry to music, I was an aspiring writer, the power of the pen. It is a way of venting, just writing , writing, writing, every possible thought that can come to mind, much of it ridiculous nonsense often bordering on the edge of insanity. That's what writers do, spend hours and hours writing, often just to crumple it all up and throw it away, only to rewrite the same exact garbage the next evening.  I taught myself how to play the guitar and read music to combine with my poetry. Yes, I may be moody at times, but without those moods, my songs would be flat, monotonous and useless.

The intensity of your moods rendering other times/sensations 'monotonous' is a strong indicator of the disorder, not to mention most bipolar people are in some way creative (this is not a A = B, there are plenty of creative people who aren't bipolar.)  It is more common than many people would believe and depending on the severity, you may or may not need medication.  I went through a year of therapy and had to demonstrate proper coping methods before my therapist was convinced that I didn't need medicine, but it was worth it.  Being bipolar helps me understand why you place such value in emotion and why it seems to have strongly clouded your logic, but you cannot allow it to do so.  You can enjoy those intense feelings and moods, but you have to be able to de-attach yourself from feelings that lead to destructive and unhealthy behavior, and you certainly cannot operate in such a state where any emotion, whether it be anger or love, would compel you to remain in a dangerous situation.  In your current state, you come off as emotionally masochistic to say the least.

Try and stay well.

<Not replying to A/anyone in particular.>

i've just finished reading the whole thread.  i have some random thoughts on it.

With the exception of Termyn8or, the members whose posts suggested the Op was bipolar, etc., struck me as 'whistling into the wind'.  A DMS IV diagnosis cannot be made by amatuers reading posts on a message board.

The actions of the 'sub' described in the Op were criminal.  It is immaterial whether she is into D/s. etc.  Personally, i'm fed up with society's tendency to 'medicalise' any and all criminal conduct. Not every defendant is 'legally insane'.

Would the members who posted on this thread be so quick to look for 'medical' excuses for criminal acts committed by a M/man?  i don't think so.

W/we seem comfortable labeling certain conduct by M/men as 'predatory' or 'abusive' or 'criminal'.  Why the reluctance to apply the exact same standards to a W/woman?

While i think submissives run the gamet of personality types, a criminal is IMO per se not a 'submissve'.

There are issues of physical safety Doms can encounter, and i've rarely -- if ever -- seen an Op discussing them.

Doms also run legal risks from 'submissives' who get buyer's remorse or s'thing and go running to the cops, claiming they've been raped or assaulted or kidnapped or whatever.

There is a 'battered man syndrome' just as there is a 'battered woman syndrome'.  The dynamics of these syndromes are complex, vary from situation to situation, and IMO, are serious societal ills that should be better addressed by law enforcement and society at large.

i have no way of knowing if the Op is a 'battered man'.  i can't peer thru my pc screen and observe Him in real life. i only raise the syndromes as an issue because, while submissives often get 'warned' about predators on CM and other sites, i've never seen a warning like that directed at Doms, male subs and other M/men posted on these boards.

Pink, why you say with the exception of me ? I really try not to play armchair shrink unless it is something I happen to have some personal insight into.

But now that we are down to it, I think most people in this country are bipolar. Replacing manic depressive as a term, it also encompasses more symptomologies. Understand what I said MOST PEOPLE.

Point number two, children are bipolar, and/or manic depressive. That is their nature, that lack of self control. But that is what we expect from children.

Now spend about half of your childhood in a fantasy world of movies and games and your body will grow and you will appear to be an adult. But what will have prepared you for life ?

They have all kinds of names for it but it all boils down to one thing, people don't fucking grow up.

ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW. Look at them on the highway. Look at them in line at the grocery store, look at them everywhere. Look at them camped out overnight at a Best Buy when a new version of a video game comes out. Or for tickets to a sporting event.

Anybody who can see how society is today knows you only get married to give your kids your name. At 47 how many kids you plan on ?

He wants a possesion and she wants to be high maintainence. A trophy eternally polished. A match made in ,,,,,,,,,,, you decide.

Actually, yes, Pink, I was asking about him as well. He displays classic symptoms. Sorry if you disagree. I really don't have enough info about her to question whether or not she does have any problems like that. But I asked if either one of them had been diagnosed because the situation came across as one fueled by either drugs, alcohol, bi-polar and/or schizophrenia, or a combination of any of the above.
I'm not a doctor, but I live with one, and He is always amazed at what I can pick up on, as far as medical issues go.
The fact that the OP won't address this allows me to respect the fact that he will not lie about it, although I wish he'd just tell us.
I've been around enough people with problems like this, and read enough about it to be able to spot it when it walks in the door.

after reading all of this, i see myself.  oh, not in the violent sub, but in the dominant.

"she beat me!  but i love her and need her and want her!"  now replace the she with he and thats me and my first husband.  he learned fast to not leave marks that showed, i wore a lot of long sleeved clothing.  even in the summer in south texas.  a LOT of long sleeved clothing.

abuse is abuse.  no matter who does it to whom.  the OP didnt agree to being beaten unconscious, then again few of us do.  she was wrong in that.  yes, its brilliant drama if written as a movie-of-the-week.  but not to live that way.  i survived broken ribs (oh and rib cartilege never DOES heal quite right) and a broken wrist...and enough mental abuse to delight the most hardcore humiliation fetishist.

that isnt someone whose affections you want, honestly...it ONLY gets worse.  unless the person is under the help of a good doctor and wants to change, they dont.  trust me.  nearly 17 years after our divorce, two additional divorces under his belt, my ex still has not changed one little bit.

but then again that's my personal experience and doesnt mean much in the long run of things.

Termyn8or, i'm sorry if referencing Your post offended You.  i wouldn't deliberately do that for love or money.

The term 'bipolar' means -- to me -- that a qualified psychiatrist has evaluated a patient and made a diagnosis under the DMS IV.

http://www.mdf.org.uk/?o=56888

IMO, W/we as a society have allowed far too much criminal or tortious conduct to be 'excused' on the basis that the defendant claims to have some 'mental disorder'.

http://www.legalzoom.com/legal-articles/article14598.html

Remember the Menendez Brothers case?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menendez_Brothers

Whatever happened to the idea that some conduct is criminal; rude; unacceptable; stupid; self-destructive; etc.?

Why does society even consider allowing S/some P/pl to evade personal responsibility for T/their actions if T/they can dream up some excuse?

There you go... Or have her committed and find out if there's some kind of organic problem...  I guess it would depend a bit on the nature of the relationship.. But I have trouble seeing how a dom would be able to reestablish control in that situation.. no matter what.. something like that should almost always end a relationship.. unless it turns out to be a brain tumor that was causing some kind of disability and that could be corrected..
