Kind of why I didn't take you seriously in the first place.

Rawni are you trying to look after me? Such things are endearing.

Only if I can cage you and have my way with you. I'm really not that nice. Well, I am, but not always.

There goes that morality thing. Feel violent yet?

Good night to you as well.

There does appear to be a relationship between morality and violence.

And here's where the question turns.

Now, I have been called the spawn of satan, but never, ever before... satan. I've been upgraded! Woot!

So what I actually said was, if you don't say "Get thee behind me Satan!" soon you will find that the Daughter of Satan will try crawling into your bed. I am employing some humor.

Concerning what you said about writing a book. I have considered this possibility, but there are better ways to achieve my ambitions. I do not see it as a solution.

Morality is the ability to empathize combined with the willingness and self discipline to behave so as to minimize harm to others.

This is nicely put. I'm trying to think of a logical exception to the above, and can't. Holds up for me…..

It's nicely put, but I don't know that it applies universally. What if they want to be harmed, and you're willing to accommodate? Who can claim omniscience of all variables and calculate least harm?

The closest thing I've found to a Kantian categorical imperative is the non-aggression principle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-aggression_principle

The puritanical is a counter-trend.

As ZGWHopeful pointed out

quote:

Morality and ethics are what separate us from the animals. Do away with them and, at the risk of hyperbole, it's not a huge leap of logic to "My neighbor has a better <thing> than I. I should stab them and take it."

morality serves a useful purpose that can be argued to be indispensable, but as thetownbicycle pointed out

we can't even clearly define what morality is. We know it has something to do with the general welfare.

Why must it get no nonsense and brutal? Because often times it is the only solution available. Though a trend may exist does not mean there fails to exist alternative solutions where a problem can be solved differently, however. People and society often prefer results over what is morally upright. Morality is not results oriented.

Since morality is not results oriented, one is often caused to ask, What good is it anyway?

Yes, you can. There were some very clear definitions in the texts I read for the Soc and Philosophy courses I took for giggles (and frankly, easy marks) in University. Do you need book titles and page numbers, or are you going to be brave and go to your own local library?

When morality is defined in terms that are comprehensible and results oriented it is easily perverted. The Jewish question becomes no longer a Jewish question it becomes how do we solve this problem once and for all.

This is pure crap. Morals let you define yourself in relation to the rest of the world, at an individual level.

The results of morality lie in how they are applied. I use a wrench to undo my bicycle tire, the tire comes off. Easy, yes?

By the same token, I apply morality to my actions, I end up acting in a way affects my confidence.

The "payoff" is knowing who you are.

(I even made that less robotic for ya, be happy.)
