cloudboy -> What is SUBSPACE? (2/7/2006 9:52:18 PM)

My first RT experience as a sub was as a maid with a Mistress. She was quite kinky and she liked paddles, straps, bondage, plugs, nipple clamps, rules, eye contact restrictions, speech restrictions, commands, and positions. For all intents and purposes, she initiated me into "what its really like," and I remember her first speech to me. She said,

"Now you will likely experience subspace (I was getting a dose of bondage, nipple clamps, and electrical current). Keep in mind you will experience an exhilerating high that is often followed by a sinking low. This is normal, just work your way through it."

There it was, this concept of subspace. I didn't get it then and I still don't get it now.

I talked to my current Mistress about this, and I said, "I don't experience subspace, I experience you. When we engage in D/S I don't go into subspace, I go into Mistress space."

We are quite connected --- so d/s just accentuates this connection and closeness. Subspace on the other hand seems to imply I go off someplace into my own plane --- somewhat akin to what one does while masterbating alone --- and this simply does not happen with me.

How about you? What are your thoughts on subspace. Is it a term with any meaning for you, and if so what is it?

Next, why is there no equivalent term for Doms, i.e. DOMSPACE?

Please tell me what I don't get or that in fact there is nothing to get (aka there is no such thing as subspace.)

aw hell lil bro.

this has been hashed out 40 times...but okay.
that "space" is connected to hormones...
some got it
some aint
some just aint found it.
YOU may well indeed find YOURS when ya LEAST figure on it.
She gets Hers...watching you...being with you...learning your triggers...
seeing how you react...
YOU ...MAY...get yours...some time...when you are in the middle of your next playtime, not even paying attention to your surroundings..and off to funland goes your head...leaving the real world behind...
it'll hit ya like a first love...right when ya aint looking.

try NOT to concentrate bro.
not on "space"
let it flow, bro.
let Her guide you...take you through the play...move you step to step...
let Her help you by paying attention ONLY to Her.
you aint spose-to worry about the outside world when you are with Her...

let it go...roll back on your haunches and r e l a x ...listen to HER only...Her voice...Her body movements..
BAM it may hit ya and not even know til ya come off it..

then again
ya may never get it

wait for it lil bud

"I" can't coz "I" have meds blocking everything PLUS my childhood abuse won't let me.

take care

DragonNphoenix -> RE: What is SUBSPACE? (2/7/2006 10:41:09 PM)

For me the 'space' is like a Manic high... I am bi-polar so this is what I relate to. The only main difference is that my low is different than the bi-polar depression that follows a manic phase. During the low after the sub-space phase is worked through with my Master. He will hold me and run his fingers across my welts.. ask me how I felt during the act... what I am thinking... etc. I dont know what it would be like if it wasnt for him... I never experienced the subspace before My Dragon.

All I can say is that you when you get it... you REALLY get it.

Let us know when you do.

Try this article about sub-space, I found it helpful. Sub-Space

I posted the same link in another forum earlier this evening for someone trying to figure out how to handle more pain. But yes, this place exists, I've been there, I love it there, it's a lovely place of peace and happiness. When I'm there, I am absolutely not in control of anything that's happening to me or around me, I'm just there in that happy place, calm, relaxed, and at peace.

An important thing to remember though, is that when you come out of sub-space, you will be in need of lots and lots of after-care. It's not uncommon to crash when coming out of sub-space, and usually excellent after care will prevent that. Water and chocolate can also help.

This was never a place I set out to go. It just happened to me, and then I had to research what I had just experienced. Relax, have fun, and if you get there, great, if not, great! Just enjoy yourself. This is supposed to be fun.

My Dragon is wonderful in the department of after-care. We keep chocolate covered cherries and propel water next to the bed for me. <sometimes I think that he is too good to me...>

The best after care, though, I think, is touch. I think I would loss it if I did not have the snuggles and touches afterward.

This is a repost of my personal experience of subspace from an earlier thread....hope it helps.

Subspace for me always comes during a scene or at times, it has even been triggered by just really great sex. Externally I am told that it is like this. If I am being scened, when I enter Subspace my body relaxes and goes slack, I no longer respond to painful stimuli, my eyes are no longer focused, my pupils dilate and I get a very calm and serene look about me. I can't really respond verbally at this point. Every touch can generate an orgasm, even a stroke on my cheek.

Internally, it is very calm. It is like being enveloped by a cool mist. Color perception is different and I very frequently see things in shades of purple. Quite frequently there is a sensation of water running over me. There have been times when I can see the room, including myself, as if I am looking down from above. Mentally I am very foggy, kind of like after a good dose of morphine....lol. As I begin to come back down, I generally get a case of the shakes. The world comes back into focus in bits and pieces. I am very much in need of a warm blanket, a good cuddle and quite frequently I am extremely tired, although there are exceptions to that as there have been times when I have bounced up like I am ready to run a marathon, excitedly chattering and giggly. The effects can last for several hours after....sometimes even longer....and it would not be a good time for me to drive a car or operate heavy machinery...lol. Although, I may seem perfectly coherent...sometimes it takes awhile for that fog to fully lift.

Man I totally did this a month ago. I understand for the newbies, but if you've been on the site for awhile, could you please just try doing a search first?

Not that I'm against rehashing of material, but starting a whole new thread just adds to the basket. Try and attach a new relevant question to an existing thread.

Subspace....?

Subspace

Subspace can you control it?

Subspace?

Not talking subspace...or sub drop...so what is it?

Subspace or just fantasyland?

Subspace safe?

Subspace or subdrop anyone?

Subspace? (2)

A thing called subspace

cloudboy -> RE: What is SUBSPACE? (2/8/2006 6:30:42 AM)

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have searched for this topic before asking about it (my bad.)

I definitely go somewhere too, but I'm not sure I'd call it "subspace" for the reasons mentioned.

Just to recap thoughts on this subject from other times for anyone interested:

quote:

I think it's a chemical reaction of endorphins to the brain caused by the pleasure that comes from a physical scene, possibly involving pain or sex or a combination of either with added bonuses. (KittenWithaTwist)

quote:

It's akin to hypnosis (LuckyAlbatross)

quote:

sub space for me is when everything seams right the pain stops being pain and i start to drift. (AlderTheKitty)

quote:

There is a state of being that I sometimes achieve during sessions where I will go from really conscious of the sound and pain visible with flinches/anticipation, then somewhere in there loose that focus of that and it shifts to the actual feeling of what that pain is, and where it is..ie the warmth/stinging/burning, and it's radiating or deepness. (starshineowned)

Then there's this A-Z ANSWER:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_195635/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#195872

(off the same thread as the other quotes)

quote:

For me, I rarely reach subspace, but when I do, I'm told I look and act like I'm drunk. (Evanesce)

quote:

i am not very experienced at the conclusion of one scene, it took some time for me to surface
and i was not able to make sound judgements of what was best for me i was very limited in my ability regarding motor skills
and it was about 36 hours before i was able to think clearly i did manage to drive my car but got lost twice, made additional wrong turns, and had great difficulty staying alert and focussed on the road it was most definitely not safe for me to be driving at that time pity i didn't know that in advance more the pity that my Dom, the one who was supposed to bear the burden of protecting me was not aware of what it would be like to come out of subspace. (tapestry)

quote:

First, to get there takes a whole lot of pain for me. And not just any kind of pain. I need the baby steps first building up to intense and overwhelming. When it gets to that threshold where I can't take anymore, it's either die or fly time. Then, my body does it's shut down and refuses to acknowledge the hurt anymore and it's just a 'thing' at that point and it's all about my head. My endorphins are on over-drive pumping so hard and fast, that I am, virtually, beyond all feeling. While I'm still completely aware of everything around me, the pain is just... gone and I'm flying. (bitatruble)

quote:

For me, subspace is rather easy and quick to get to, simply because my nerves decided to cross link consentual pain to exercise. Simply pushing myself to muscle failure will send me there. (slipstreme)

quote:

i totally agree with you subinutah that subspace can happen besides during times of excruciating pain. For example when Master whispers somthing nasty in my ear or even says it out loud i still feel it, even if it is a slap on the ass ect. (Hallittlelolita)

quote:

eing suspended just plain gets me high. It starts when my Dom starts setting out bights of rope, and I am just stoned by the time he completes the tie and flies me.

If I am going to play hard, my favorite warmup is being towed to the cross, preferably across some distance, by my hair. Not like dragged lying on the floor, but silently, forcibly grabbed and firmly held by the hair while being pushed or pulled to the altar of my chastisement. My body gets the message that "it"s on now, bitch!" LOVE IT LOVE IT WANT SOME MORE OF IT! Or some variation thereof regarding the hair. Hair tied into the hogtie. Make me go down in "present" position and stand on my hair while messing with me so I move. (classykindasassy)

And for domspace, the inestimable veronica:

quote:

She gets Hers...watching you...being with you...learning your triggers...seeing how you react...

I get the concept of subspace, from a physiological and emotional perspective. However, I don't experience it. Makes you feel kind of cheated, eh? I was slightly distressed at first, but have accepted it does not happen for me, at least not the way people describe or not yet. I am no longer concerned.

for me, subspace is a little bit of heaven. i don't particularly like pain, and i don't aspire to have pain inflicted . . . ahhhh, but as the price of admission to an endorphin rush and the place i get to with subspace . . . yes, i will pay.

" I go into Mistress space."

I've heard of sub space.. probably experianced it... but I've always prefered to know i went to Master's space... where he's happy having me... where he wants me. In his own world. His space as it goes. I like knowing that when he looks at me... he sees me as he wants me to be. And that's usually glassy eyed... usually near tears if not in tears.. from being happily in pain and extacy.

Some have even claimed to have "out of body experiances".... can't say i've gone there. I've been there to feel it all... hear it all... see it all.... smell it all.... taste it all...
